What are the chances of "critters" (bugs, snakes, lizards etc.)getting into your ground floor room?

First post here! We stayed at CBR two years ago at the end of October on the 1st floor and had quite a shock when I found a lizard in our room on the third day. Just one of those small ones you get as pets as a kid...no big deal, but I wasn't expecting it. We caught it and released it outside!

I always as for a non-ground floor. There is actually only one slithery critter that bothers me.

I know it's probably irrational consider climbing, but it makes me feel better to not stay on the ground floor.

Not disney but my family stayed at Atlantis last week and on our last night we found a baby lizard on the bed while my mom packed up! We were on the fourth floor too.

This past May at AKL, on the 4th floor, we always found lizards crawling around the ceiling of our balcony. Everynight. They never got in the room though.

We've seen snakes at all parks except MK, and at several resorts. Closest encounter was a large black snake slithering across the path a few feet in front of us at blizzard beach, custodial cast member with a pick up stick picked it up and put it in the bushes, then kindly stood there to reassure us as we passed by, I love cast members. A few minutes later we were telling a family our tale and they said they had a snake by them in the lazy river, that would be way to close for comfort! Just bugs in our rooms, always request higher floor, but more so we don't have guests above us.

I was in a first floor condo last week in Windsor hills. On the last day, I was grabbing my brush in the bathroom and next thing I know a big roach comes running over the counter. I flipped my lid..lol I have never seen one. They are huge and fast!!

I screamed for my dh who came in. Even he took a step back. The damn thing squeezed under the cabinet.

I was done. I said I wasnt using that bathroom anymore.lol I shut the door and left on the light. My dh was cracking up. He kept saying how he could go right under the door. I told him to shut up...closing the door Made me feel better...lol. I preceded to move all my bags to higher ground. Dh asked me why the light..I said he probably likes the dark more so maybe he Will still think we are in there with the light on.

I was being ridiculous but I felt better.. I didnt sleep well that night. When I had to get up at 3-to pee, I went all the way down the hall to the other bathroom.

Me too. My favorite thing was relaxing in the lazy river but now I'm not gonna be relaxed....I will be looking for snakes! Great....

We found a lizard in our room at AOA last year it was a ground floor room. I got a towel and put him out. If I had seen a roach I would have freaked!!

Bugs and lizards are always a possibility in any room. Snakes much less likely in upper rooms.

Geckos (small lizards) can climb really well, even up walls. My cats used to chase them in our Florida apartment; if geckos are caught by their tails, the tails drop off (and the lizard runs away!). We had lots o tail-less lizards around our apartment!

We stayed offsite once and has a horrible roach problem. Not the Palmetto bugs.

I don't want to see any in my room. Yuck.

My husband saw one slide into the lazy river at TL once, too. It got back up on the side and slithered into the bushes. We saw a big black racer at the Grandstand bus stop at SSR lying on top of the bushes there and a bird was attacking it.

I've seen lots of lizards getting eaten by the tall white birds around the park, but never IN the room... we have had weevils in the ice bucket on our ground floor ASSp room and a roach in our ground floor Coronado room though... lots of dead flying insects and spiders in all the rooms though... especially if you peek behind the furniture. Ugh...

Probably mostly black racers. Not poisonous. But a child did get bitten by a copperhead (I think it was a copperhead) at a resort once. He went to get his toy out of the bushes and was bitten. Wound up in the hospital for several days.

They could be either. Black Racers are common, non poisonous and not particularly aggressive. However there are poisonous snakes, including the cottonmouth or water moccasin, which is very aggressive. There are many, many species of snake indigenous to Florida. Only a half dozen or so are venomous. Best bet is to keep your distance if you see one, and notify the nearest CM. Don't wander off the sidewalks and keep your hands out of the bushes. Snake sightings are common. Snake bites are not, fortunately, and are usually the result of someone doing something unwise.

We had a ground floor room at OKW for two nights and never encountered anything other then Mosquitos outside on patio.
