What are the BEST uses for WISHES?

I am considering getting the Silver Winter Dream Maker Package for a GIRL'S escape (Wed-Sun)... although it is only 3 nights on the package. That would give us 12 wishes total.

What I am trying to figure out is what is the best use of these wishes vs. just paying CASH for things...

Anybody have any ideas?

I am not sure, but somewhere there is a breakdown of what you need to "spend" for each wish to make it break-even. You may want to check the restaurant thread or maybe wdwig.com or mousesavers - can't remember where I saw it!! (Sorry)

That having been said - if this is the type of trip that you want to really go all out for and you feel you will get your money's worth then the convenience is worth it. However, you may want to decide what you REALLY want to do in terms of eating and entertainment (that you could use wishes for) price it out and then see what the total is. Then compare this to the additional cost of the meal plan.

That is the best advice I can think of and unfortunately it is going to require doing some "homework" on your part - just remember - planning is half the fun.

P. S. I personally have never found this package to be a very good deal.

Hi Karen I've been looking at the same thing and it looks to me like the best value would be for dinner shows like HDD or Spirit of Aloha, spa treatments and meals at nice sit down restaurants. Keep in mind that each wish is worth $34 and that will help you price out what you think is the best value per wish. Also try Mousesavers. The section on WDW packages has a section on how to make the most of your wishes!!

I'm on the silver plan for my upcoming december trip. I'eady booked a theme park tour with the package(1 wish). Also used one wish to get a candlelight processional package deal. The tour is one thing I've been wanting to do for a long time and with this package I am able to. When I get back from my trip I will be doing a full report on how I got the use out of the package.

We used our wishes primarily for meals. When you do this, you can get an appetizer or soup or salad, entree, non-alcoholic beverage and a dessert for each wish. Since the wishes include tax and tip, you can easily get your wish's worth.

You can also use 2 wishes each for tickets to Cirque, and you can call in advance (6 months I believe) to order them, you just have to pick them up at the box office the night of, and use your card to deduct the wishes.

In October I will be using wishes for the 2nd time, we really enjoyed the ease of just signing and not having to worry about $$ since it was all paid up, up front.

We ate at mostly expensive restaurants, our favorite was Alfredos, where believe it or not...we had a $200.00 lunch!!

When they hear that you are using wishes they really add on lots of food! When you order Filet Mignon they offer a Lobster Tail Add On, we never ate so well!!

Disney CP how did you use a wish for the Candle Light CP? I was told that I can't use the package plans for this and I am on the Platinum Pkg. The activities planners checked and it was extra.
That being said on Mousesavers they have an article now on how to get the best use out of your wishes on the packages.

I also used mine last year for the Candlelight package, we ate at Chefs De France.
I simply called and booked it, had to give them my Credit Card # incase of no show, and then told them I would be paying with wishes, and I did when we got there.
I would call and try again, unless Disney CP can give you some more info on how they booked it.

I booked it through dining. I told them I was on the silver plan and the double checked the information before proceeding. They told me that when I picked up the stuff at the epcot window I would need to present my room key with my wishes on it and they would deduct it that way. I would definetly call back and ask again because I'm sure you should be able to.

I got my monies worth by using my wishes on the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, Spa treatments at the Grand Floridian, and dinner or lunch at restaurants such as Wolfgang Puck's, San Angel Inn, Hollywood Brown Derby, Jiko, and Teppanyaki.

We were on the silver plan when we went to WDW in March. I kept pretty good track of what each thing would have cost. The best values were the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Wolfgang Puck's Cafe, Portobello Yacht Comapny, and Hollywood Brown Derby, all for dinner.

We used them for one breakfast - a really bad deal. The other bad deal - 2 wish restaurants. At Jiko, 4 of us (Dh, me, DS17, DS14) used 8 wishes ($272) and would have spent $191 with tax and tip. At California Grill, my husband and I used 4 wishes ($136) and would have spent about $120 with tax and tip (while we were there the boys used 2 wishes for a $103 dinner - they shared lobster and pizza along with appetizers and a huge dessert). By the way, both Jiko and California Grill were fabulous, my favorites of the trip, and we ate some of the more expensive items.

I just did a wish trip for my three night solo trip last week. I used two of the wishes for tours, one three for meals, and one for the photo box (I hadn't planned on using it for that, but a change in flight time home kept me from having the time to have a sit down lunch my last day). Here's a break down of the costs of my wishes:

$59--Keys to the Kingdom Tour
$49--Undiscovered Future World Tour
$64--Dinner at Wolfgang Pucks
$40--Dinner at Alfredo's
$40--Dinner at Le Celliar
??--Value of Mickey photo box

$252 plus the photo box. I paid $217 for the six wishes I had. I think the wishes are a good value if you use at least some of them for higher priced items like tours and dinner shows. Some restaurants are a better value than others. It was nice not having some things prepaid for my trip.

I am going in December on Silver Plan. I am using the wishes for CP at Teppanyacki, Spa treatment at the GF, Keys to the Kingdom Tour, an EPCOT tour, golf and probably an expensive meal that requires only one magical wish. Some restaurants require two magical wishes. I concur with previous posters that you should plan on using your wishes for the more expensive offerings. I hope to use the wishes for the Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Brown Derby, but it is too early to book. It wouldn't be most cost effective to use it at Hollywood & Vine.

The wishes also work well for my goal of taking my parents to Disney and have them really enjoy themselves. They are Depression Era people and very cost conscious. If I take my Mom out to eat she will order the least expensive item on the menu. If I tell her its all included in the package she'll order what she really wants. My Dad would never agree to a spa treatment, or the outrageous greens fees at WDW but I tell him its included and if you don't use it we loss out. So he goes and enjoys himself. For me the Silver package works.

Just wanted to thank you all for giving me the information on the CP and the packages. I was able to book my CP package tonight as you all said and was told my Platinum Package would indeed cover it. That is sure going to beat standing in line like I planned waiting to get a seat with no reservations.
