If everything goes correctly we should be able to book at the 8th month mark depending on our ROFR and closing. Our home resort will be VWL. What will be available at that point? We are hoping to get 2 studios or a 2 bedroom. If I have a zero chance at that I was thinking about 2 studios or a 2 bedroom at either boardwalk or beach club or a 1 bedroom at BLT or VGF OR 1 studio at the POLY(obviously there is no real way of telling this one yet) at the 7th month mark. What are my chances? I figured you all have lots of experience with this so hopefully you can help me figure out what I may be able to book! TIA!!

You'll have a very good chance at VWL at eight months - less of a chance once the seven month window opens at BWV or BCV because that's Food and Wine when those resorts fill fast once the window opens.

Two studios will not connect - so if you are thinking two studios for your family - there will need to be an adult in each - if you are bringing friends, they may or may not be close to one another - if you want togetherness, book the two bedroom (if you are traveling with my brother in law - book two studios :))

Awesome! We are bringing my mom and I would love the 2 bedroom but I was ok with 2 studios if need be since my kids can pick and choose where to sleep each night if we are close or not no biggie! My first pick would be a 2 bedroom there so Im glad to hear there is some hope of getting what we want! Thanks so much for the quick response!!!:goodvibes

To a certain extent, it depends on what you mean by early Nov. If that includes any part of Nov 5 to 8 (Thurs through Sun), then you risk not getting anything at VWL at 8 months out or any others at 7 months out. That tends to be an extremely high demand weekend -- end of Food and Wine, Food & Wine race, beginning of Christmas decorations in parks and beginning of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and end of Jersey week -- and one of the few times I have seen even SSR not avaialble at 7 months out for one or two of the nights. If before then, you should have a good chance at VWL at 8 months out but iffy at 7 months out for resorts other than SSR, OKW and AKV.

To give you an idea, using the Resort Availability Tool, right now the entire 7-11 mos window (8/8-12/14) is available for all VWL room types (with the exception of Studios/2-bdrm lock-offs Nov 27-the Friday after Thanksgiving). VWL doesn't typically sell out outside of the 7 mos. window, therefore if you book exactly at 7 mos. @ 8 AM Eastern online you will have no problem whatsoever getting any room type you want. That said, October does go quickly, and Studios go first, and with them 2-bdrm lock-offs (which are a Studio and One Bedroom combined, therefore when Studios sell out implicitly 2-bdrm lock-offs sell out). Keep in mind a 2-bdrm lock-off have the following beds/occupancy: Studio side has 1Q, 1D sofa, 1 murphy bed (occupancy 5); One bedroom side has 1K, 1Q sofa (occupancy for 4), whereas a dedicated 2-bdrm has 1K, 2Q, 1Q sofa -- thus more actual beds but occupancy for 8 vs. 9 -- something to consider.

As far as BCV, the dedicated 2-bdrms have two configurations -- 1K/2Q/1Q sofa and 1K/1Q/1Q sofa, and because not all have 2 Queen and there is a separate room type for these, these actually sell out before the 7 mos. window (one of very few room types that sell out in advance of 7 mos.).

As far as BLT or VGF, unlike VWL both 1 bdrms have occupancy for 5, and have 2 full baths vs. 1 full bath in VWL 1bdrms -- which depending on how many are in your party could save you over a VWL 2 bdrm and be closer to MK (5 minute monorail/walk vs. 20+ min. boat ride).

I believe the sleep sofas in the second bedrooms are double, not queen. The configurations are 1 Queen sofa in the Living Room and 1 Queen bed and one double sleep sofa in the second bedroom. That would matter to me.

Studio have double sofa -- corrected that above. One bedrooms have queen sofa. 2 bdrms have 2q beds (not sofas) in 2nd bdrm -- at least according to descriptions in booking tool, which is what I'm basing this off of. BTW, 5th "bed" at BLT is sleeper chair; 5th bed at VGF is murphy bed. You can see all the descriptions (taken from booking tool) in my WDW point spreadsheet if you open it in Excel.

A very few 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds.
All at OKW do. There are about 24, I believe, at BCV - they are a specific booking category. I am not sure if there are others or not. But they are the minority for sure.

That's just at BCV. The other odd one is BWV that only has lockoffs so never 2 beds in the second bedroom, always a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa.

You should have a decent chance. I was able to book VWL for 10 nights this year at the 7 month mark. My dates were 10/25-11/4. Of course I was just booking 1 studio. But if you get in before 7 months, you may be able to pull it off. Good luck!

All dedicated 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds, with the exception of some BCV (which are a separate category). It's the lock-offs which don't. All of these exceptions are noted in the comments in my spreadsheet for each room type, if you open it in Excel and hover over the points to view the room description.
