What are my chances of last minute booking in August?

I am waiting for a green light on purchasing disney points via resale from an international seller, thinking that this may very well happen since Disney usually doesn’t buy back from an international seller. The process is taking so long, I may not get the points until July, there are some points that need to be used ( from 2020) before September 1 of this year. What do you think my chances are of getting a two bedroom at OKW or SSR anytime in August at the last minute ? I would be looking for four nights pretty much anytime in August. Not asking anyone to check availability-just wondering what you have encountered in the past. Thanks!

That is pretty short notice… but if you are flexible with the whole month, there is a chance but I’d say chances are not great.

Just purchased resale from an International seller - got the ROFR passed on 3/22, had to wait until 4/19 for the seller to close due to notary availability, package submitted to Disney on 4/22, finally saw the new contract loaded on 5/4, points still not loaded yet and not ETA from member services. So yeah ...

Thanks! The broker said they could try to rent the points for me if there is no availability.

Yikes!

Don't despair, it was just my experience - who knows. But, from what I understand, it's the trade-off of buying from / passing RoFR with an international seller. I got a decent deal, but it is what it is I guess. I have to admit - I wasn't as prepared for the lengthy turnaround. My resale prior to this was wrapped up in about 5 weeks all-in (not international)

Unless I am missing something if there is no availability for you to book a stay then the points couldn't be rented as there would be nothing to rent.....
That's what I was going to say... but maybe OP only wants a 2-bedroom and broker is thinking that there might be 1-bedrooms available even if there are no 2-bedrooms, so points could be rented out that way? (I guess that theory wouldn't work if all 2-bedrooms were lock-offs.)

The broker can’t rent them if there are no rooms for you to book with them.

Unless you mean what is there wont work for you in terms of travel dates.

Also, rooms that are still there at 60 days out can be taken by DVC to offer for cash to create breakage income. That is also a reason why last minute availability is difficult as they may choose to move many of those rooms from points bookings.

As an update to my above post response. Points were finally added today. I ended up using the chat and the DVC Member Services indicated it was still processing and try back on Wednesday next week. Separately, I sent an email to DVC Member Services earlier today before trying through chat, and I got an email 4 hours later saying the points were loaded. So once you see the contract, I would contact them in follow-up - seemed to have done the trick.

Thanks for the info and best of luck to you!
