I have just received my bc points, for the memorial weekend, I have placed myself on the list for a studio or one bedroom. Based on your past experience, statistically do you think I can get it. I know they have you on the list until 7 days before you arrive. But, realistically do the wait lists work?

Waitlists do work but I would have a back up plan if I were you. You are trying for one of the smallest resorts and a holiday weekend besides so I think your chances are very small. I have had waitlists come through within a month of check in but they were for SSR at Christmas time and I had been on the list for several months before that. Good luck - I am currently hoping for a waitlist to come through for BCV for Sept 11-15 but have a back up reservation at AKV in case it doesn't happen.

so you think I should put myself on the wait list for all the disney villa resorts, except, vero,( have to rent a car), do you think the wait list will come thru even though many may have been on the list for all of the for a few more months?

Your best bet is to get on the wait list for all the resorts. You may want to be flexible and call and see what they have available for several nights in a row.

I'm not sure if your flying in, or drying, but its getting kind of late i the game to get affordable airfare.

Do you have a back-up reservation at another resort paying cash?

I wouldn't bank on getting your exact dates. Are you on the wait list, getting the resort day by day, or the whole time at once. If you go day by day you would have better luck, you could end up at several resorts.

Its so close to memorial day, i doubt you would get your resort choice of BW because the waiting list is probably a mile long. You might get lucky and try for SSR or OKW. We tried to get something over that weekend about 2-3 weeks ago, everything was gone. We were able to get SSR from the tues after memorial day, until the following sunday. You are just so close, its a matter if someone else cancels. I suspect though if someone else cancels at one of the smaller resorts, those who have reservations at SSR or OKW, would be on the waitlist for months trying to get VWL, BCV, BWV and slide into that resort before you.

Best of luck, if your flexible with your dates it could happen, last minute reservations require you to be very flexible.

I have back up cash reservations at bc hotel, but now received my points from disney last minute and trying to use them and get into a villa to use my points and save 4000. Your right though everyone has been on the wait list for months. I put myself on the wait list for a studio, 1 bed, and 2 bedroom in hopes something would come up. I can try to wait list for 3 days at year villa for beginning of trip and then 3 days at end, but only want to move once. I think day by day would not work, since I may end up in all the villas at each resort. Nothing like really working the system .

I've been on the wait list for BCV, BW and WL since the end of January for my trip 5/11-17. Since the trip is less than 7 days away now I have to call every day and check for availability. There was nothing available and she even checked ALK and OKW. Looks like we are at Saratoga.

I thought they changed that rule. I think you can only waitlist one resort at a time now.

Beach Club is tough, even booking months in advance, because it's so small. At this late date, I think your only realistic chances are OKW or SSR, with SSR the more likely of the two. If it were me, I'd probably ask if I could waitlist for both OKW and SSR, with the provision that as soon as one night came through at one, the waitlist at the other resort would be canceled. If you are willing to move from one resort to the other once, that might give you more options; not sure how that would get handled with the waitlist.

Some combination of renting a DVC villas for cash and booking with points might also allow you to stay using points for part of your trip. Look for an email with suggestions from me.

You can do multiple resorts. I waitlisted for a single night in April, and told them I'd take any resort. They put me on the list for all the WDW resorts. I got SSR, no surprises there, and was very pleased to get a room at the last minute; I went on the waitlist about 2 weeks prior to check-in. (I was adding on a day to a previously-booked trip at a non-DVC resort.) As soon as my SSR stay came through, the request was automatically canceled for the other resorts; that's how I asked that it be set up.

I have been wait listed since March or so... for May 22nd to May 27th... at Beach Club...

Been checking each day. Currently have a 2br at SSR.... have waitlist at beach club for a 2br..... also been calling each day to see if I can get 3 studios.. by combination at beach club and boardwalk.. since they are so close.

Diane, you can waitlist for as many resorts, and categories, as you want. MS will "warn" you though that when the first one comes through, all others are canceled - so make sure you've waitlisted only where you'd be happy to stay! ;)
