What are my chances Halloween 2018 week opening up?

Right now I am booked at the Fort at a full hook up site November 25-December 1st. I have never been to WDW to see the holiday decorations so I was looking forward to that. As we will be driving down from Canada with our hybrid trailer my Dh would prefer to avoid the potential for an early winter storm. Also weather would be warmer a month earlier and then the two teens in our party can pitch a tent in the site for more space if they wish.

The only openings for the week of Halloween is a tent site and we want a full hook up site for the sewer. My next choice is the week before October 20-27th. Not quite as fun as Halloween week but I'm sure we will still see plenty of Halloween decorations. Is there much chance at all of any sites opening up Halloween week or am I out of luck?

For Halloween week 2018, yes there is a chance that a site might open up. Most likely not until it gets closer, maybe 5 -6 months out, then that is where your persistence will pay off. Keep checking the website or calling or both every day to see if anything is available.

If you are able to extend your vacation a few days there are Full sites available now for 10/23 - 11/2. Even if you can't extend your vacation, you could always play the game and reserve those dates, then later on down the road, call back and drop the dates you don't want / need, just don't do it a few days before your check in, they may not let you drop days. Just a suggestion.

Interesting, how come the 23-2 is available but the 26-2 isn't? I will play around with dates later and see if I can book it that way, thanks for the tips. The problem with waiting 5-6 months out is that my Dh has to book his vacation time in November for the following calendar year. So after November I won't be able to switch weeks. Also could I just go ahead and book the 23-3rd which is available then just go and modify my dates right after to the 27-3rd which is what I want?

Just some friendly advice, if you decide to book the longer stay, don't wait to long as that will be gone also, how long, not sure.

I did book the longer stay and I tried to modify it after and it said there was no sites available for my stay even though I'm just shortening the stay not extending it so I'm going to try and call later tonight.

Calling will be the best way to go. I have called before and dropped a few days from a ressie that I made well in advance, the CM looked and no sites available for my new dates, they talked to a supervisor, and told me to give them 24 hrs. get the my new date for me, without losing my existing reservation. I think it was about 6 hrs later I got a e-mail conformation with my new dates. So, it can be done.

Thanks I'm going to call after dinner tonight and I'll report back with my results. It makes no sense to me that I can book the 23-3rd but not the 27-3rd. I would love to extend the trip to the whole 11 days but unfortunately I can't with kids in school, one week is enough to miss and we have limited vacation time and like to take some of that time in the summer months to do stuff while the kids are out.

Thanks for your tips! It worked! I called and the first CM couldn't switch it because it was showing no availability just like I was seeing but he put me on hold for a few minutes to speak with guest services and came back to say the switch was done. So excited now to have my first experience of the Fort over Halloween!
