Okay, I hope this isn't too complicated. We (me, DW, DD28 and DS32) are planning on spending Dec. 21-26, 2008 down at WDW. We plan on staying in a 2BR unit. I have enough VWL points so that I can make an 11 month ressie (day-by-day) for 4 nights. I plan to do this for Dec. 22-26 (checkout on the 26th). This should be a pretty sure thing getting this ressie, doing it day-by-day at 11 months. Then at the 7 month point, I plan on adding on the 21st at VWL using my AKV points. That will give us 5 nights at VWL. Then, to make it even more complicated, at the 7 month point for the 26th (checkout day), I want to switch the entire reservation to AKV (2BR, Savannah view). You might ask, why don't I just make the entire ressie at AKV to start with; simple, I don't have enough AKV points.

So, here are my questions. 1) How easy do you think it will be to add on Dec. 21st at VWL for a 2BR to my existing 4 night ressie? 2) How easy/difficult will it be to get the entire ressie changed to AKV at the 7 month point? The reason I don't want to do a day-by-day for AKV at 7 months is I wouldn't want to be stuck with just half a reservation and find I couldn't switch the 24th and 25th.

Does this all make sense? I am just concerned about switching to AKV and availability. Worst case is we would have the 22-26th at VWL and we'll spend the 21st at Pop Century.

I think booking Christmas holiday at any DVC resort at the 7 month mark will be extremely difficult. In fact, I would think there would be waitlists running for those days way prior to the 7 months.

Well that was kind of what I was thinking. What about for the 21st at VWL? Do you think I could get it? We'd be happy just staying at VWL but would prefer AKV. Like I said, worst case is four nights at VWL and we'll just stay the 21st at Pop Century. We did that last year when we all went down and stayed in a 2BR at BWV.

I love the WL especially at Christmastime so I don't think you'll be dissapointed. I have yet to stay at AKL but plan to soon but only a few days as I want to switch back to the WL for the last few days of my vacation as I can't imagine a trip to Disney without staying at WL. I think it will be extremely difficult to switch at the 7 month period for that timeframe. I would either suggest borrowing points from your 2009 use year for the 21st and stay at the WL or borrow all the points you need for the AKL at the 11 month timeframe. Good Luck.

Wow... those plans are laid out like NC State game plan.....not enough points, time and too complicate to implement. In the end, just won't work out for you.

Ok, kidding aside.....The first part of your plan booking the VWL and adding the 21st dste at the 7 month mark is probably doable, might have to waitlist. Changing everything over to AKL, two bedroom Savanah view....I think is asking too much, especially with limited availability.

I would suggest maybe finding a AKV owner who wants VWL at Christmas and trade ressies. That seems to be the easiest thing to do. Best of luck with your planning!

VWL has both dedicated and lock off 2 bedrooms, so when you make your second reservation, you will need to get the same sort of 2 bedroom villa so you don't have to move. That adds another level of uncertainty I think.

Since you really want AKV, that's where I would start the ressie. Take what you think will be the hardest days to book, book those, and try to add on there at 7 months with VWL points.
