What are appropriate rides to take a 1 year old on?

Our ds will be 11 months when we go on our disney trip...will we be able to take him on rides like Dumbo, Pirates, Pooh, etc? Since I've never had a child I guess I can't visualize the ease with which we can go on these things. Do you hold baby on your lap? Keep him in a sling?

Also, are most 11 month olds comfortable sleeping in a PNP crib or should we rent a full size?

our youngest was 10 weeks our first trip, 15 months the second trip, and she rode EVERYTHING that did not have a height requirement, pooh, peter pan, dumbo, pirates, haunted mansion, she never had a problem, sometimes she was in the sling, sometimes not, sometimes she slept through them, sometimes she was up. She was the easy one, she never compained.
Where as my older daughter when she was 4, we had to drag her OFF rides, we would get up,and she would hold tight to go again (imagine dragging a 4 year old off peter pan....). But she only did that once or twice (knowing she got in trouble).
11 months is easy, take them on everything they can, and have a ball!

We held our DS (10 1/2 months at the time) on our lap on those rides. We found the safari too bumpy but everything else we took him on was OK

We were at WDW for 18 days, he lasted 3 nights in a PnP then we got proper crib - better sleep for all

take baby on anything w/o a height restriction. Bring a front baby carrier for lines and rides. Baby can sit in a front carrier the whole way through.

Oh, this brings back sweet memories! Our DD was 1 year and 2 days when we took the kids to WDW the 1st time (her brother was 2 years 4 months). They were both too cute!

Be sure to visit Toon Town - lots for a little guy to explore! Let him check out Mickey's house (and see Mickey) and play in the toddler play area. Our DD was pretty active at that age and didn't want to be in a stroller all the time. Rode on shoulders some and we carried her when she wanted to see more. Depends on the child, but many don't want to be in a sling/carrier at that age - too confining!

Take him to Crystal Palace to see Pooh and Tigger. She liked those guys and Mickey, didn't really care about anyone else that year. DS was crazy about Buzz and Woody, but he was 2.

Skip the shows that get dark - loud noises in dark theaters are too scary for this age. Take him on the carousel and also Indy Speedway - he can ride with you and pretend to drive - this was a cute picture too!

And Spaceship Earth is perfect for naptime - lulls me to sleep every time!

Have fun - the next year will go by so fast! WE just spent her 8th birthday there last month. Talk about time flying!

You got some good advice on the rides... DS was 15 months, but rode most on our laps or between DH and I. He wasn't much for the dark rides...didn't necessarily freak him out, but he looked at us like we were strange for bringing him on them His favorites at 15 months were Dumbo, Aladdin's carpets, and the carousel at MK and the safari at AK (I do agree it was BUMPY though!). I would have been comfortable with all of those at 11 months, too. And then his other favorites were the free things like the bus, boat, and the pool, of course! It was SO MUCH fun to watch him get so excited about everything. You're going to have a blast!

For the PNP, does your child ONLY sleep in his crib or is he flexible? My DS hardly sleeps anywhere, but is fine in a PNP. Do you have one that you can practice with before you go?

We just got back from taking DD who is 11 months. I agree with all of the previous posts, any ride with height requirement is great. She loved Winnie, It's a Small World and we even took her on Pirates. The most fun she had was the character dining, she would squeal with excitement for the characters. Toontown was also a big hit because she was able to meet teh characters. As for sleeping, we stayed at the Poly and had a crib which worked out really well. If you would like to see a pic, let me know and I will post. We had such a great trip that we joined DVC and are headed back in October!!! You'll have a blast!

Well, he isn't born yet, I just wondered in general We'll have our own PNP so I'm sure we'll know by then if he'll sleep a night in it. I just wondered how most other 1 year olds are...I would imagine it would be uncomfortable!

We took our 8 month old (and her 2 sisters) on Pooh, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Pirates, Haunted Mansion (scared the sisters, but not her), Small World, all the shows...Tiki Room, PhilharMagic, etc. She loved the safari at AK and the animals, at Epcot she loved the aquariums. We also did 3 character meals - she LOVED POOH and friends at Crystal Palace and we loved that she was free!!
