Last night, we were at MILs for dinner. While we were there, it starts to rain, we are talking pouring!!! Then the thunder and lightning starts. The kids left early because Patrick had to finish his homework and Jim and I stayed to chat with his Mum.
Well, the phone rings and it is Meg, she is panicky and says there is this loud beeping and she thought the power was out, she didn't know where it was coming from and was scared. She mentioned the carbon monoxide detector and I told her where it was and her boyfriend (the older one, not Zachary)
found it and I said unplug it. Sure enough the sound stopped. Well by then we figure the power is NOT out. I told her to open all the windows and doors and the kids are staying outside. Jim and I head for home and can't smell anything but plug the unit back in. It goes off about every 3 minutes. We called the gas company emergency line and no answer???? Kept trying and finally got through, they say they will be there within 4 hours.
Meg went with her BF to his house and Patrick, Lola and I went to my Mom's while Jim sat on the porch waiting for the Gas company to come. Fortunately there was no sign of gas, it was probably a faulty detector, but it messed up our night, no Tony Awards, Patrick had trouble finishing his homework on time. But we are grateful that it was nothing and we are still here!!!
