Its a long flight, a lot of the airlines only offer wifi movies which if you use a phone means you need either those cordless ear bugs or that chord that you can plug into your charger slot. That is what I forgot last trip, they did have them at the ABC for the return flight

Not sure if swim bag = beach bag. One bag for all of the wet, sandy stuff (mask and snorkels, reef shoes, etc) and a separate bag for towels and stuff is helpful.

When our kids were little would throw a roll of duct tape in the luggage - so many uses - including taping the balcony door closed from the top - just in case. A sharpie to write on ziploc bags, etc. Frogg Toggs or cooling towels for extreme heat. When we stayed somewhere with a full kitchen, brought a kitchen sponge and along with spices in ziploc bags for whatever I would be cooking, some bisquick in a baggie too. Parchment paper pieces for cookies, pillsbury rolls. Have a wonderful trip!!

Not sure how long you’re staying or what kind of room, but maybe a couple of Tide pods just in case you need/want to do any laundry. When we picked up our luggage in Maui last week, it was all wet!! I was so afraid I was going to have to wash everything but luckily it was just the outsides that were wet, and they dried overnight.

I keep a few big towel clips in my beach bag. Handy to keep coverups and things from blowing off your chair if lay them out to dry. (I walked straight into the ocean in mine…🙄)

I’d add a Hydroflask or your fave reusable water bottle. I also usually carry some solo cups for the room—for my POG juice ;)

We didn’t use fins on Oahu but I wish I’d had them on Maui. I took my own snorkel belts (which I also didn’t need on Oahu) and was SO happy to have them.

Autograph book for your son?

Hats?

I’d skip the rain jackets. Otherwise looks great to me!

Why do you think I should skip rain jackets? It rains is HW right? We will be heading to the other side of the Island where it rains more like the Kuala Ranch and North Shore. Is it really that dry in July?

Bring light rain jackets (shells) if you do. There’s always the possibility of rain - and often heavy. But in July it doesn’t rain often, and usually you just get a few minutes of rain, and then clear skies again. Actually, quite often it’ll be raining and sunny!

Looks good but there are no insects in Hawaii. What?!?! Yes. It’s true (Not totally true). But it’s remarkable.

Beach towel (sand repellent preferred), so you do not have to use the one at the hotel. That's assuming you'll have access to laundry.

We have so much stuff to pack so was thinking maybe no towels, they just take up so much space and yes laundry, we are staying dvc 2 bed.

I usually bring a small travel size sunscreen and then buy bigger ones at target or Walmart. When my kids were really little I made sure to have it on their face and arms Before they walked out into the hot Hawaiian sun from the airport. I am Canadian so I find the prices in Hawaii pretty much on par with our prices. The target in Kapolei has a large variety of different types of sunscreen and aloe.

I have a collapsible cooler bag that comes in handy for bringing back groceries and for picnics or cold drinks at other island beaches.

I bring my own sharp knife and cutting board. We love all the beautiful fresh fruit in Hawaii, especially papaya so it come in handy and goes into my checked bag.

Another thing I started bringing about eight years ago was a collapsible pineapple corer. I bought it on Amazon and although it’s not a necessity, it’s fun to use and travels well. It leaves you with perfectly cut pineapple and a shell you can put a mixed drink into.1655990813973.jpeg

Well I’ve only been twice now, but a total of 24 days across 4 islands, all in June, but we didn’t get enough rain to ever bother with putting on a jacket. It’d sprinkle and then the sun and wind would be right back to dry us off. And will you really carry them with you everywhere you go? Just a thought. But yes, take that bug spray! Hawaii definitely has insects!

Unless you have a favorite dress/Hawaii shirt, I would buy new ones on Oahu as souvenirs.

If you have laundry in your room, no need for more than one workout/running outfit per person. I train for my races even on vacation and I just bring one pair of running shorts and two shirts at the most. I will just throw them in the laundry with that days' load.

I would skip the laundry bag if laundry is in your room.

Wear your heaviest shoes on the plane so you don't have to pack them.

I've been to Hawaiin Islands over 10 times and have only needed a rain jacket once. That was in Volcano NP at the end of May when they were having unseasonable cold with heavy rain. Like others have said, rain passes quickly and is usually a sprinkle.

Use your Loungefly backpack as a carryon. Don't pack it. I use mine as my purse.

Hydroflask or other reusable.

Finally, I would bring a few reusable grocery bags if you're planning on a grocery stop. There is a plastic bag ban and the stores charge for paper bags. In the past we purchased reusable bags on our first ABC store visit and use those. I also use them here at home because they are strong and amazing.
