We're taking DD to DL for her 5th birthday in April (surprise trip) and since we're having a small party w/ her friends before we leave (that's when she'll find out we're going), I thought I would put together a tote bag of Disney vacation essentials for her and give it to her at the party.

- Sunglasses
- Flipflops
- Personalized birthday t-shirt
- Disney Princess beach towel
- Kid-friendly camera (either disposable or Fisher Price type thing)
- Sun hat
- Autograph book w/ pen
- Disney game or book (for plane)
- Disney gift card (which we'll hold on to but for her to use to purchase what her little heart desires)

What am I missing?

You could tuck in a few Disney dollars and some maps so she can look at them on the plane on the way there! (I can send you some after my February trip if you want!) Your package sounds awesome, I am sure it will be a big hit!!

Great idea about the maps! I would love it if you could send me some after your trip in February -- greatly appreciated, really! :)

I think I'll include a CD w/ Disney songs too! Ooooh, I'm so excited!

Could you find a Disney CD at say a Borders? Or better yet download some songs from the link that was posted here this week burn a CD and she can listen to that on the plane as well.

You have put a lot of thought into this! Your list looks really good, the only things I could think of if you want to add are glow sticks, which you can pick up very inexpensive at a $ store, and maybe a light up twirly toy, the kind that you see so many kids with at night. They are going to love their goody bags. Have fun!!

Thanks for your suggestions! The CD is definitely on my list... and the glow sticks are too! As for the light-up-twirly-toy, she was given one last time we were there and I think I'll pack it again for her. :)

Keep the ideas coming...!

That is a great idea but I am on a different wave lenght that everyone else. I think you should give something like that to your daughter I don't think it should be given to her with a bunch of other 5 yr olds. I would give her that gift seperate from her party, she will still get excited without other little girls feeling sad that their mommy and daddy didn't do something like that for them, just my though and hope I didn't put a damper on your excitment for you and your daughter

I think you have a great bag going. What a wonderful way to let her know you are going! She will be thrilled!:woohoo:

The glow stick idea is great. I always forget that one so thanks from me for the reminder. Kids love those. I've gotten into the habit of bringing their "glow" light up toys from previous trips so I dont have to ALWAYS buy another one. We have at least 8 of them!

Just today I saw Disney disposable cameras (at the grocery store). They were 800 speed film with 27 exposures. The cost was 2/$10.00

For our last trip I found some sticker/activity books with the princesses at Target, they were small and kept her busy on the airplane.

Also, I sneaked some princess PJ's in my suitcase and a card I made from the characters welcoming her to DL and put them on her bed in the hotel room, she was thrilled when she found them.

When we went for my DD 3rd birthday (her first DLR trip), I had my DH keep her busy in the other room at the hotel, opened the door quietly, knocked and closed it quietly. I left outside a letter from the "Princesses" welcoming her to DLR and an "invitation" for lunch at Arials Grotto from Arial herself.
She was beside herself, when we went to lunch she thanked Arial for the invitation and told everyone at lunch she was Arials new best friend.
Have a great time, hope the trip is :wizard:

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! I am definitely going to use the invitation idea... and I saw some sweet Princess jammies the other day!

Planning for this trip is even more exciting than our last one!

Thanks again!

You didn't say where you are staying, but if you are staying at the DLH, or anywhere on site, ask for a "special delivery" when you check in, or call first, and they will give your dd an autographed pic of the princesses or some other character, my dd was thrilled.
