What airport to fly into to visit St. Augustine, FL?

I'm considering surprising my folks and visiting them in Fla. this February. (They are spending 5+ weeks down there.) They have always wanted the kids and I to come to FL with them, but we usually save our vacation time and $$ for WDW. Well.... DH put the kibosh on going to WDW this January, so I was trying to think of something different to do. I just don't know what major airport is closest to St. Augustine. Any help? Thanks.........P

Looks like Jacksonville is closest. I would see which airport gives you the best rates though.

Jacksonville for sure. It's less than an hour away, and a pretty decent airport.

You just take 9A after hopping on I-95 south for a minute and that will take you straight to US 1, you hop off and jet to St. Augustine. Since they made that loop--it is a pretty quick trip. If the difference isn't too much off of Orlando--I'd fly into Jacksonville.

Though I think the travel time is right at an hour--my mom is just a hair north of the city gates of St. Augustine and we plan about an hour to go to the airport when getting my sister.

Jacksonville is a great airport to fly into.

When I lived in St. Augustine I flew out of either Jacksonville or Daytona, whichever had the cheaper rate.

Jax International is about 1 +10 away from St. Augustine, depending on traffic. It's a pretty nice airport that is easy to get in & out of.

Daytona Airport is about the same distance away (+/- 10 minutes), but it's a bit of a chore to get to from the Interstate.

Flight availability from Jacksonvile is probably much better.

Orlando Int'l is about 1 +45 away.
