What airport do you fly into for Galveston cruises?

Just curious as to what airport you would fly into if you were taking a Galveston port cruise?

Depends on the airline. Of the major airports, Southwest and other regional carries fly into Hobby, which is closer to Galveston. Houston Intercontinental handles the major carriers (AA, United Continental, etc.)

Living in Houston, I can tell you Hobby is closer to Galveston but more airline options into Bush based on where you're flying from.

To add to the previous posts by Houston-area residents, in addition to Houston Hobby being a hub for Southwest, the airport has some additional commercial airline opportunities worth looking into depending on your preferences. JetBlue flies direct into Hobby via JFK while you can fly commuter jets via Delta or American through connections in Atlanta and Dallas, respectively.

You can fly to Intercontinental (IAH) or Hobby (HOU). IAH is in north Houston and HOU is south. HOU is the hub for Southwest airlines. Being from Houston, I always try to use IAH.

For Easter, I got my mom a last minute flight to see my neices on Southwest. And while I like the price, going to the part of town where Hobby is, is almost not worth it for me. I dread going there next weekend to pick her up in the late evening. It is a part of town where you do NOT want to have car troubles or forget your cell.

Hobby (HOU) is definately closer to Galveston and my favorite of the 2 airports. It is smaller and easier to get in and out of.

Depending on traffic IAH (Houston Bush Interconnetinal) it could take an extra hour or more to get from IAH to Galveston than from Hobby to Galveston.

It really depends on where I am flying to and what schedule I need to keep as to which airport I'm flying out of. But 90% of the time I prefer to fly in and out of Hobby and it is normally the same price or less to fly out of Hobby.

I would price both airports and your transportation options for both.
