My DD is almost 2 ½ and sleeps in a toddler bed without a pillow. We are thinking of getting a “big girl” bed for her for Christmas. What age do you let them start sleeping with a pillow? I assume she is old enough, just wondered what everyone else thought. I asked my SIL the other day (her DD is 2 months older than mine) and she has had one since she turned one.

Thanks,
Amy

My daughter was about a year old when she started using one...

I think your daughter will be fine.

We got big girl beds last summer when the youngest wasn't quite 2 yet. I did start her out with a flat pillow though. Nothing too big and fluffy.

My son was closer to three before he used one. Until that time he slept in the butt up with head cocked to the side position. Not conducive to pillows. ;) :flower:

DS has been using a travel pillow since he turned 2 in July. The travel pillow is a great size for him. He's still in his crib...has never tried to climb out so we haven't converted his bed. :)

We put a pillow in the crib since they were a few months old BUT the pillow is under the fitted sheet so it just make a small elevated hump!! The 16 month old still has it like that and the 2 year old has a regular pillow in a big girl bed.

My daughter didn't have a pillow until she was at least three. It was never an issue and we really didn't think about it.
She's such a restless sleeper that she never really uses it now i.e. her head is never on it.

We started using a pillow when my son asked for one, he was about 2.

I can't remember when we gave my oldest a pillow. I remember she could talk, but then again she was a really early taker so I am guessing sometime in her 2nd year of life.

I put a pillow in my youngest crib this summer when she was a year old. A flat one and it was mostly to elevate her because she was congested.

She slept so much better. It really helped in a lot of ways. She has always hated her crib. She is fine with it now.

I would start with a flat one, not a feather one! :goodvibes

We got our boys pillows when they started with sinus problems, the pillow helped the drainage. I don't know that I'd use a pillow except for that.

DS got a pillow when he moved from a crib to a twin bed, he was 2 years, 2 months old.

I believe my son was almost 1. We got the hint when everynight he bunched up his sheet for a pillow. :rotfl:
With my daughter I believe she was a little over 1. We gave her my sons old flattened pillow and DS got a new one.

We just gave DD a pillow last night. She is 3 years and 2 months. She is a very restless sleeper.

When DS moved into his bed, he got a pillow. Doesn't matter, he still rarely ends up on it by the end of the night. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
