What advantages/differences do Management PI's get over normal interns?

Hi everyone! I have a few more questions about the management PI's. What advantages or differences are there between management interns and normal interns? Do managers have offices/cubicles/etc.? I have also heard that they get BlackBerrys. What about the benefits and perks? Basically I just want to know what the differences and advantages are when you are a manager versus a normal intern.

Thanks to all who have put up with me and who have answered my questions! :)

1. As a management intern you are considered a manager. Meaning you get all the responsibilities of a manager. From what I can tell the main difference is that as an MI you are considered more of a TS (temporary Salaried) than salaried. Also because you are an intern you aren't eligible for the full time benefits.
2.Again, you are a manager by all accounts. You have a desk, email address, and for the most part the same responsibilities. The amount of responsibility will probably vary depending on the department and how competent you prove yourself to be! I don't think the MIs get blackberry's however. I have to check but I know my friends who were MIs got pagers instead of blackberrys but once they were full time salaried they got blackberrys.
3. The Benefits/Perks are pretty similar to being a CP or PI. The only difference is that you are salaried, as well as some of the other things I mentioned in the PM I sent you.
I've been researching Management Internships since I did my CP so I know exactly how you feel!

Thanks once again! This is all so helpful. Good luck with your internship!

I don't think its about what you get physically from the management internship. When I was a CP, I would always shadow my managers (which one was an intern) and I got to see first hand what they had to deal with. The manager internship is about learning how to deal with things. You are given the same responsibilities and expected to perform exactly like the full time managers. Its not for everybody, but I could imagine what the experience would be like and the knowledge you would learn.

Does anyone know about the hiring rate once your program in completed? If I was to do this, I would want to plan on getting full time once the program was over. Do they always offer you a job, if you performed to their expectations?

I knew 4 management interns, after the internship: 1 got statused in the area he interned in, 2 got management TAs in other areas a couple of months after their internship (one I lost contact with, the other didn't get statused after her TA and is regular FT), then the fourth got statused in another area, but has since left the company. I don't know what the typical hire rate is, but that is what happened to the people I know. I'm sure a lot of it just has to do what is open at the time. I also know 2 people doing internships now, so we'll see what happens to them.

I think one of the major downsides to the MI is that there is SO much training. I was talking to the 2 I know doing the internships now, they both started their internships in January and they said they won't be in the area as an active manager until April.

The only thing I want to mention that hasn't been brought up is that MIs can't live in Northbridge, you have to provide your own housing.

I am assuming that TA means temporary assignment? Any idea why one of them did not get statused in that position? Did they do something bad?

Thanks for your help!
