What added benefits would you like to see as a DVC member

It would be IMHO that Disney offers discounts to Florida residents to persuade them to visit Disney more often then other places. With all the tourist attractions in Florida Disney has to say in some way to Florida residents "Bring your family and friends here"

Back to the topic. Disney doesn't need to provide an incentive to buy into DVC. Points are selling quickly as it is. That's why the per-point charge has gone up again, because if anything Disney can afford to slow down sales, or they run the risk of having nothing to sell.

And they don't need to give us an incentive to come to WDW either. Heck, we all prepaid for another 40-50 years worth of trips to WDW.

It's much more of a grey area as to whether a park pass discount would entice us to spend enough to make the discount worthwhile. We honestly would spend the same amount either way. We come all the way from Wisconsin, and once we're at WDW we visit the parks based on our vacation needs, not how much it costs.

So in our case, it would be nice if we got a discount on passes, but it wouldn't help Disney's bottom line. Just mine.

If so, I don't think it will happen. Disney has certain %'s of discounts that they offer for various groups. The only group that has larger discounts offered than FL residents and AP holders are CMs.

Please understand BWVDee I am not trying to offend you because you are a Flordia resident. But yes I do feel that Disney should offer DVC members better discounts. I am an AP holder. So being an AP holder and a DVC member I am thinking to myself something is just not right here. I purchased the AP with no discount. If I hold an AP I certainly attend the parks, shop and eat much much more. Will I continue to purchase an AP?....................that really depends if Disney will not allow discounts on AP's I may lodge at my DVC but see and do other things. As DH points out if Disney were to give a discount on AP's we would be going to Disney theme parks three times or more a year. We may only purchase hopper tickets after this year.

I really dont know Jimbo if that would be true or not. While staying at OKW last week we found a lot of DVC members were lodging there but not going to the theme parks. They instead were doing other attractions. It may not show now as to the attendance level of DVC members at the parks but it wouldn't surprise me if in the next 5-10 years members were just lodging.


Oh the Badgers should of been #3. But they are playing in Milwaukee which is even better. GO BADGERS

Ya, a lot oc common sense in this statement, unfortunately. They already have our $$$$ and will be getting more $$$$ from us. No discount needed.

I voted "other". My preference is a park wide 10% discount -- good anywhere, anytime.

We have used taxis to go resort to resort (and I tip heavily because the fare is usually negligible).

Adding my 2c to say I agree with this statement. I hope that Disney sees the fact that DVC members are spending more time and $$$$ offsite they smarten up and start discounting passes (other than UPH-is it really a discount if the price is already outrageous to begin with?)

I think this is the crux of the matter! Supply and demand, which would be the incentive to offer DVC members similar discounts to Florida residents.

Florida residents are already there. They've been to WDW. They may want to go back but the beach is cheaper. So why do they go? A DISCOUNT.

Someone from NJ or MI spends a lot to get there. The 15% difference in ticket price is not as big a factor in their overall cost. It doesn't dissuade them.

Over time the DVC veteran becomes more like the Floridian. He goes to Orlando. Stays at DVC. (Trading out points to II is too much a pain in the mouse.) He's been to the parks, and the restaurants. He may want to go back, but there are other things to attract him elsewhere.

Why should he spend money on property?? PERKS!!!

In spite of the ads that we were "buying into the magic," it turns out to be all supply and demand. It's NOT what DVC members want.

ITA with Jimbo; I've never been certain that discounted APs automatically mean increased spending at the parks.

When we were deciding to buy into DVC, the fact that it is in Orlando was a big plus. While I know that our first few trips will be totally Disney-centric (we're even paying $3,967.77 per ticket for MH ), as time passes, there will be days - and even entire trips - where we don't go to a Disney park. There is a lot more to do in Orlando, and one reason we liked SSR is that it seemed "resorty" enough that we could spend an entire week just relaxing and enjoying the SSR facilities. And a savings of $30-$50 per AP is not enough to make us change that.

As to the Poll, I voted DVC FP - that would give us value whenever we did go to a Disney park.

I just wish we would get the same discounts as florida Residences. Especially with the dining, if they offered more dining discounts, you would want to eat out more, by eating out more, you would not use your villa as much, meaning less wear and tear. My inlaws get passes for certain times of the year that are cheap!!!

I voted FP, because I agree with the posters who say that the discount wouldn't make much difference. Even at 10%, that's not enough to make me not buy APs or any tickets. Of course, if I went all the time time, it may help, but it's still not that much $$ in the long run. You could easily save that by not eating out once or twice. Anyway, for us, I think the FP would be ideal. That way, we'd really get more out of our stay and be able to go during the busier times which are easier for our family.
