and flying out of Atlanta with you and some others Nothing new to report about the trip, but waiting to see what comes through with some room rates to cut costs for all of us

If anyone is interested and is looking to stay at a nice, clean and affordable hotel - I recommend the Howard Johnson's Anahiem. It is about a 5 minute walk from the security gates into Disneyland/DCA, the room I stayed in was fabulous and very affordable, especially if you are sharing the costs with someone else.

For tight budget minded folks, I've stayed at the clean and well maintained Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate #1066, 100 West Disney Way, for most visits over the past decade or so. Current room rates are $49.99/night and WiFi costs $2.99/24 hours. The 0.8-mile walk to DLR is a bit longer than from other hotels closer to the park. It'd take me about 15 minutes to walk to the park entrance, which helped to burn off those Monte Cristo sandwiches.

My rooms have looked just like the one in the video, clean and comfortable, plus no charges for local phone calls. I recall the hotel was remodeled 5-7 years ago and converted to a Red Roof Inn, then a few years later, returned to being a Motel 6, both chains owned by the Accor Corp. with headquarters in Paris, France.

It'll be my first trip to CA so I'm going to do everything I can... and considering that it's only 6 miles from DL, it'll be a "must-do" for me

the Blue Bayou has the best I am told. I have that recipe from there, but never made them. I am looking forward to this trip too! I am so torn about staying on property... as I would love to have that magic.

The identical Monte Cristo sandwiches are served in both the Blue Bayou and Café Orleans. Like TS dining at WDW, nowadays, you should make ADRs for the Blue Bayou way in advance of visiting DLR. The Monte Cristo served at Café Orleans is a couple dollars less than at the Blue Bayou. Both locations are TS restaurants and use the same kitchen. However, dining in the Blue Bayou is well worth the slightly higher cost.

I'll make sure to look into flights connecting via Atlanta, and will check with Jen2 on which airline she is planning to fly.

I'd vote for going a day early for Knott's so that we can end our trip at DL.
