Onto day one.....
The flight down to Orlando was smooth and fast! We arrived 1/2 hour early, grabbed our luggage and headed over to the Alamo counter. As we were going over to Alamo, I noticed how short the lines were at the other counters for getting a car. Ooohh, this is our lucky day! We'll be outta here in a jiffy! We get up to Alamo and yikes!
What is this? A long line to get a car! Oh well, I thought it was too good to be true to get out of MCO within a 1/2 hour. What did I care though, I was in sunny Florida and it was warm (well, it was warmer than where I came from!)
The line for the car ended up going really quickly so we grabbed our minivan and we were on our way. Whoo Hoo! The trip can officially begin now! We made a pit stop at Albertson's to get snacks and breakfast food for the week and once again we were on the road to Shades of Green. We were all very excited to see how SOG was decorated for the holidays. We got to SOG in no time and our rooms were ready for us! Things couldn't have gone smoother so far and we felt as if the pixie dust was being sprinkled everywhere.
We were in room 4110 in the new section of SOG and the view was great and the room very spacious. We ended up being near the parking garage which worked out well for us since we drove our rental car a lot on this trip.
After unpacking, it was off to get my parent's their APs. We caught the next bus to the TTC and we all activated our APs. In hindsight, I wish we activated them the next day. I didn't think we would be back this time next year, but my dad loved the trip so much he ended up booking us again next December. We never made it to a park that night so I felt bad activating it a day early without even going to a park. Oh well, lesson learned!
We had 5:30 PS for Citricos at the GF so we jumped on the monorail to get us there. When we walked into the GF, the decorations actually took my breath away!
It was beautiful......the tree, the garlands, that giant gingerbread house, etc! Everything was stunning. It was such a wonderful feeling being at Disney and casually strolling around the GF taking in the festive atmosphere. My DH won't have to use "Crazy Santa" on me here!
You all know that peaceful feeling you get when you have finally arrived and you have the whole week ahead of you? Well, I finally felt it! I was so relaxed for the first time in a long while and I couldn't wait to experience some Disney magic!
It didn't take long for that magic to kick in! We got to Citricos and were seated by the window. You could see the castle in the background. Pure Magic! I had called Citricos about a month before the trip and ordered a birthday cake for my dad
and a Cinderella's Slipper dessert for my dd's. When we were seated we got menus with "Happy Birthday" written on it which was a cute touch. The service at Citricos was impeccable and the food melted in my mouth. My dad was surprised and grateful for the fuss made over him. The cake came out and we all sang "Happy Birthday". I ordered a sugar free dessert for my mom and the chef did not disappoint! The Cinderella's slippers came out and the girls immediately devoured them.
I never even got a chance to get a picture of them b/c my dd's (especially Tink lover) dove into them before I could even blink. The slipper was a very cute presentation with the slipper on a plate with their names written in chocolate. I've got a mental picture of it, so that is enough.....but man, I've never seen anything disappear so fast!!!
After dinner, it was off to the lobby to soak in some more atmosphere. People were playing Christmas Carols with bells (sorry, the name of this escapes me at the moment). I loved it and just wanted to curl up on a chair and listen all evening. Can I just stay here, please? But it had been a long day and we had to get moving back to SOG. We jumped on the monorail once again and had to hear "Por favor....." We monorailed past the MK and "aaaaahhh" how pretty it all looked! People were bustling about going to the MVMCP and you could see the castle lit up in blue with snowflakes on it. It was great to see families excited to be going to MVMCP. That will be us in a few nights! Can I just bottle this feeling that I have forever? Pure happiness and joy...that is what we all were feeling at this moment.
We took a quick pit stop at the Contemporary to brouse the shops and we were on our way home to SOG. All in all a great first day! We needed to get to bed early because tomorrow was not one, but two surprises for the family!
"Crazy Santa" for the day = ZERO!!
Up next - Day Two - Who threw this clue on me? And magical WISHES!!
