What a weekend! Can we move on to July, please?

This has been one nasty week.

First was the tornado that hit our neighborhood. And while no official tornado was reported, DH and our neighbor somehow calculated that it would have taken wind speeds of 120 mph to do the damage that was done. Which is an F2 tornado. (Don't ask me how they calculated that. I think it had to do with the way a particular board broke, I'm not sure)

Then yesterday, DH disappeared for the entire afternoon when running a "quick errand". Turns out he had a blowout on 45 (freeway) not long after leaving our house and had to put on his spare then go to walmart to have the tires replaced. And he couldn't find his cell phone to call me. So he spent 4 hours in Walmart waiting for them to fix his tires (or, rather, waiting for the car in front of him to get out of the way) and he couldn't think of any way to contact me and let me know. Ugh. Luckily, he wasn't hurt and he was able to maintain control so he didn't hurt anyone else, either. Apparently he somehow had a puncture in the sidewall of his tire.

Then this morning, we walk out of the bedroom to a *very* strong smell of burnt plastic. When none of the usual culprits proved to be the cause and we couldn't find anything, I decided better safe than sorry and called the fire dept. I was afraid of an electrical fire in the wall. Thanks to y'all, I knew that they had some device that could check for a fire in walls and I remembered posts on here in the past emphatically saying don't feel stupid, they'd rather respond to something that turns out to be nothing rather than letting it go too far. So, I tried their main number first to see if this warrented a 911 call or if we should wait, and the lady on the phone very emphatically said hang up and dial 911 do not wait it out just in case it goes away. So, I got to meet the local firemen. Of course by the time they arrived (took *maybe* 10 minutes -- good response time, considering how busy the area is today with further heavy rain and lightning and stuff), the smell was mostly gone. They checked the house over with their thermal imager and said everything was clear and definitely it was better that we were safe rather than passing it off as nothing and ending up sorry. And once they left, DH figured out the source of the smell. The doorbell had fried. We heard the doorbell ring this morning (and we usually ignore the doorbell unless it's rung multiple times) and didn't think anything of it other than it being odd that for once, all the cats in the room went running into the living room. So, now we're without a doorbell. It's been dismantled and taken off the wall.

Okay, enough with this month!!

Yikes! Here's a :grouphug: and I hope today is better.

I didn't know that about the fire dept. Thanks for the heads up although I hope I never have to call them.

A doorbell tip--check to see what kind your neighbors have and get something different. My BIL put a new doorbell in about a year ago, well their neighbors put the same one in about a month ago and every time someone rings their doorbell, it rings in my BIL's house. It's kind of funny but annoying. They are good friends with the neighbors so it isn't a big deal. They are doing something to fix the problem.

You're kidding, golfgal??? That is hilarious!!

It's gonna be a while before we replace the doorbell, though. DH and our neighbor fixed the fence this weekend, but we still have to get the roof repaired and we can't get the insurance guys to come out and take a look. *headache*
