Wha's the deal with the Pepper Market?

My SIL is planning her first Disney trip (well, first trip in many years, the last time she was there Epcot was new!). She wants to stay at Coronado Springs. It looks like a nice resort, but I'm a little concerned about the Pepper Market food court. Can you get food "to go" or can you only sit down and order? If you are on the dining plan, do you just pay the tip separately like at a TS? It seems like a weird setup to me and I know she's going to have questions about it, so I'm hoping you folks can help me! Thanks!

We loved the PepperMarket when we stayed at CSR! We loved all of the different options and yes you can get things to go. I cannot answer the dining plan part though - have a wonderful stay!

If you are on the dining plan the Pepper Market is an excellent counter service choice! It feels more like a TS but it's not. When we were there last year the tip was included for the DDP. (just for Pepper Market, not all restaurants) Yes you can get food to go.

I wouldn't worry too much about the set-up. We thought the food was poor (very bland) but we wouldn't let that keep us away from CSR.

Hope SIL has a great time.

:)

Well, that's cool. I wonder if it says that officially on any of the dining plan paperwork? I want to make sure I let them know if they'll be expected to leave a tip there or not.

We ate there end October for lunch using DDP.

You went to a podium and were seated, given menus just like a TS. Server came and took drink orders just like a TS. She explained the set up and gave us a card each.

Then you go up and order your food. The person who takes your order stamps your card to show what you've ordered. You go back and pick up your food.

It is a food court set up with different stations eg grill, bakery, kids section.

The server gave us drink refils, checked everything was ok, cleared plates.

We wanted ice cream dessert so went up and got that after we had eaten our entree and they stamped the card again.

The card said you would be charged a 10% service charge including if you were on DDP.

When we had eaten we went to the cashier with our cards and DDP cards. We didn't have to pay any extra at all. When I asked about the tip for the server she said we should have left it on the table for her - so I went back and did that.

The podium staff and server did a good job of explaining how it worked and what you could get on DDP.

We had 2 mexican entrees - chicken quesadillas, steak ranchero, 2 cokes and 2 bowls of ice cream for 2 cs credits.

We enjoyed the food - it was cooked to order, served on real plates with real silverware. Staff esp server were very friendly and pleasant. It was clean and food was fresh.

We ate there late lunch so it was quiet.

We just stayed there in Oct and were on the dining plan. We chose to get our meals to go and ate outside by the lake. It was good food and no problems. Nice choices and we didn't find it bland. Hope they enjoy it!!

We love the Pepper Market. Have never stayed at the CS but usually stop there for lunch or dinner after a round of mini golf @ WinterSummerland. The food is good. Everyone can find something they want and the desserts are yummy too. It is nice having a server refill our drinks. We like that you can go back and get your dessert or something else without having to go through the cashier line again. They just stamp your card and then you pay for everything on your way out. We have always found it quiet and uncrowded even during SPring Break time. Love to walk around CS in the evening. It truly is a beautiful resort.

I loved the Pepper Market when we went! We were on the DDP, and there is a 10% gratuity for eating in, but if you're on the DDP you don't have to pay it. You can take whatever you want to go as well. We did both. There are some tables outside, and we sat outside one night with some buffalo wings-payed OOP so we got the food to go. We ate breakfast inside on the DDP and we both got really good food! Can't remember what it was, but it was delicious.

Personally, it's a little out of the way for a CS, but it's WELL worth it at the CSR, and is one of the best CS we had at the World-besides Earl of Sandwich lol.

We love the Pepper Market!

For eating in we get real plates, cloth napkins, and silverware. A nice change from paper plates and plastic forks. The food is fresh and there are many more choices over the average CS place. Lots of variety.

Most food is made fresh to order so there is frequently a short wait, and if others in your party want cooked items from other stations then your food may be ready at different times. This is always something we try to avoid so one of us doesn't end up finished when the other is just sitting down with hot food.

If you want your food order to go, get a "To Go" ticket when you enter instead of the normal one. Same ticket, just has To Go stamped accross the top so the station prep people know to package it and the cashier knows not to charge the 10%. If you're on the DDP the cashier will not charge the 10% for any meal, but you are asked to leave a tip on the table.

My family loves the Pepper Market. We had a great time there our last visit and definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a great way to use their CS credits.
