Call me crazy, but our DD's newest musical instrument just moved in. A Fender Stratocaster.;)

She tried out electrics and acoustics at the guitar store, and both she and the sales dude decided she's simply cut out for the electric.

I might need somewhere to live in a few days - anyone got an extra room?:p

LOL! Good luck with that addition! And, don't forget the earplugs! :teeth: At least it's not the violin!

My daughter informed me that she wants to take lessons! It will sound beautiful in about what....8 years? :p

cool!! My ds took up gutiar about 2 years ago and it was the best money we ever spent! I love to listen to him play when he is in his room and doesn't know we are listening. He's much better than he thinks he is! I am sure whe will love it!!

To quote Dixie Carter's character from Designing Women, Julia Sugarbaker....

if you're CRAZY, then I'm absolutely INSANE!!! dd 15 got a new electric guitar and now dd 9 has decided that's what she wants to play this year (i told her she could have music lessons this year). dd15 listens to AC/DC and such while dd9 likes playing School of Rock and Freaky Friday over and over and dreams of playing those songs.:hyper:

It's quite possible.

Good for her! My DB played electric guitar all through his high school days, he still does and most recently played a long with the band at his own wedding for a song. :)

Hmmm being as you have allowed an electric guitar to move in,, does this mean our dd's piano and electric keyboards can come visit??? if htey do you are welcome to use thier room during the visit:)

Just remember what John Lennon's Aunt Mimi said: "A guitar's alright John, but you'll never earn a living with it":teeth:

That is a really great guitar. I hope she enjoys it for many years to come.

At 9, we bought DS a complete trap set (drums). He plays today in a band in Colorado, they hope to mmake it "big" one day, I guess they are pretty good, they have opened for the Radiators, and are going to open for ZZTop this summer.

He probably would not be playing today though if I hadn't insisted he keep at it in school when he wanted to quit. I told him there was no way he was going to not be in band after I spent all the $ on the drums. It was a great mom moment.

Although it would be nice to be the mother of the next Melissa Etheridge, or Linda Rondstat..::yes::

I don't know what would be worse, electric guitar or drums..My DBIL learned drums in his basement at an early age and made a good living on the club scene later with his band, Natasha. Nothing famous, but he did what he loved. Now he is a computer geek..Go figure....:teeth:

You sound like me when we welcomed a trumpet, then a flute, next a guitar, and now a huge set of drums! Yuck.....thankfully DH is very musically inclined and works with our kids and practices while I am at work!:rockband:

I think she's trying to start a one-girl band. She already plays piano and flute. She's not athletic at all, so this is her passion and I try to help her with it - as crazy as it all is.

She's upstairs now playing "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. Self-taught already. Not bad for 2 days.;) Maybe it won't be that bad.

we have too many to count
6 electric guitars, 1 accoustic guitar, 4 basses, an electric drum set, and a viola
I estimated the guitars and basses DH knows for sure
I know we have a Les Paul, a flying vee, and a stratocaster
good luck
