First time visitor wondering what veterans have done about shoes for water rides such as Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids. Do you carry flip-flops to change into out of your daily comfortable walking shoes? We can handle a change of clothes that will dry, but the shoes have me confused.

I change to flip flops for Kali (and often have a bathing suit top under my shirt, which I leave in a locker with my shoes) but not Splash. I don't feel that Splash gets me that wet, while Kali can totally soak you. I don't remember splash getting my feet uncomfortably wet.

We wear Keens/TeVas as our regular shoes. They dry quickly. I have gotten completely soaked on Kali, so now I try to do it on my way out of the park.

Flip flops are your best bet for Kali. Splash isn't that bad.
Have fun!

Okay interesting. I will have to look for them at the shoe store. Do most of you that recommend them for Disney get the sneakers, sandals or what?

Thanks for asking this. I just posted more of the same asking about Splash and Pirates to find out how wet everyone is getting

I would plan on having 2 pairs of well worn-in sneakers and 1 comfortable walking sandal (not a $2 flip flop from Old Navy)...You can rotate the shoes daily (which is apparently a thing...you're not supposed to wear the same pair of shoes 2 days in a row) and if a pair gets wet, you can switch out at the hotel to let them dry. The walking sandal would be for wet rides or if your feet get swollen with all the walking and humidity...plus sometimes (depending on the shoe) they look nicer if you have any signature ADR's planned, etc.

I only wear athletic shoes in the parks (I have very narrow flat feet that don't do well in any kind of sandals though I do have a pair of Ecco Sport sandals that I can tolerate for a few hours around the resort). The only ride that I feel the need to protect them on is Kali -- they don't get soaked on Splash. For Kali, I wear a rain poncho (yes, I'm *that* person) and then I put a plastic shopping bag over my feet to prevent my shoes and socks from getting soaked. That works very well for me -- the shoes might get a little wet, but not soaked by any stretch of the imagination. We don't carry any bags/backpacks into the park -- if it doesn't fit in a pocket, it stays in the resort room -- so taking flip flops to wear on Kali isn't an option for me.

This is what I taking with me to Disney 1 pair of keen water shoe top scandles that are closed toe one pair of keen low cut hikers that are vented and a pair of tea closed toe sandles that I can put my carbon f ibex inserts in

We go to WDW in the summer so we always wear TEVA sandals. We found them to be very useful on the water rides and in the midday rain. THey dry very quickly. Nothing worse than walking around in wet sneakers. DS found this out the hard way.

Tevas for me. They are my favorite park shoe. They are adjustable every which way so that you can get a great fit, and they dry very quickly.
