Wet or dry? How is El Nino treating you?

It has been unseasonably wet (and somewhat cool) here in East TN for this time of the year. We hit 90 degrees only once in July so far (very rare...usually 90s most of the month)...and have a 3" surplus in rain.

How is it where you live?

Right where I'm located at the lake (it can actually vary just a mile down the road or on the other side of the lake) out of the past 58 days I think we have had "maybe" 8 days (individual days - scattered here and there) that have been totally dry..

All of the rest have been rain all day; part of the day; off and on during the day; torrential downpours; etc.. For the most part temps have been well below normal - but the humidity and dew points have still been high..

Last week we broke the record lows three nights in a row - down in the lower 40's..

To sum it up - this one will go down in the books as "The Summer That Wasn't"..

I'm in upstate NY - in the mountains..:)

Down here in FL, El Nino's expected to keep the big storms at bay this hurricane season, so it can stay exactly where it is, thank you...

We usually have very little summer rain, but we had less than usual last winter, so we better get some great rain this coming fall & winter.

We have had well below normal temps since Memorial Day. Sometimes we were lucky to hit 65. I agree with previous poster it's the summer that wasn't. As far as rain we been dry as hubby didn't mow for several weeks.

St. Louis MO

It has been wetter than normal, still had hot into the 100's heat index with seriously high dewpoints and humidity. Our June was hotter than normal. It is cooling off now and usually doesn't do that until the end of Aug.

Makes it miserable which is a normal St. Louis summer.

It's been pretty normal here. We did have a bunch of days in mid-July that were 100+ degrees, but that's pretty normal. If anything it's been slightly hotter than usual.

And guess what we're going to have today, tonight, and tomorrow? Rain!! We already have a flash flood warning in effect.. Geez - hard to believe there's any rain left !!

You know what they say about WA :umbrella: ;)
Well, we are DRY!!! Too dry. Battling fires....lawns are all brown. We have only had maybe 3-4 days of showers all summer.
We are also HOT!! Been in a heat wave (for here ;) ) for the last several days. Hit 99 yesterday.....VERY unusual for us. We are usually high 70s to low 80s.

North Central Ct here and it has been a cool rainy mess. Rain, rain and more rain! It has been cool, some nights in the 40's, plenty of days we barely made it to 65 degrees. Not summer as I know it.

Right now it is hazy and humid, thunder somewhere in the background but no rain yet. There is supposed to be more storms late this afternoon or into this evening. So far this month it is the second wettest July on record and our weather guy said if the rains continue this week we will break the 1938 record.

I am really not looking forward to winter, I hope this does not mean a lot of ice and snow!

NNJ rain, rain, rain.

We are under a thunderstorm advisory (again).

drought, about 30 inches short for the past 23 mos, rivers are drying up and lake levels are down significantly. We've also had excessive heat, breaking records over and over. We've logged the hottest 30 day period ever recorded for the area.
El Nino is supposed to bring us rain in the fall. Fingers crossed!!!!

Someone please kick this "El Nino" character out of Western PA. I'm trying to get an addition put on my house with a new roof and over the past three weeks I've had 3 separate water "incidents" because of it...Not to mention the delay in getting the new roof!!!:mad::mad:

Oh my goodness!! It's raining buckets here now! Can't even see out my window..

No thunder yet, but I just switched over to battery in case.. Once the thunder starts I'll be signing off until we get a break..

We don't need more rain !!!!

This time of year is supposed to be our "monsoon" season in NM, but it's really only been a tease. The days are hot & sunny and then the clouds form in late afternoon. We wait for the clouds to burst, but usually we get nothing or just a light scattered showers.

On the downside, we have been trying to do an outdoor photo session with a pretty pricey photographer. We've had to cancel 3 times already because he wants to take the photos around 7:30pm, but that seems to be when the gray clouds are over the mountains. We want a mountain view in our background, so the sky is not cooperating in that sense.

Other than that, we could always use rain if anyone wants to blow some this way. It's going to be in the mid-90s today but we have low humidity so it's very tolerable.

Miserable here. We are used to it being hot here, but this past month has been awful. So hot you can't even go outside. We havent had much rain either. Just a little over the last week or so.
