Wet as a frog, sick as a dog, bumps on a log! ~Spring Break 2012 TR ~UPDATE 3/14

Alright guys. This is it. I am going to post as MANY updates as I can tonight. Like legit. I am only taking breaks to eat dinner and use the restroom.

So, in case you have not guessed (even though you have had PLENTY of time to think about it so you really have no excuse), we were eating at Yak and Yeti!

This was our first time EVER to eat there and we are SO glad we tryed it.

We got to our reservation pretty early, but NO one else was in the restaurant and we got seated right away on the bottom floor.

Our waiter was on the exchange program. He was from Morocco, so it was a bit hard to understand him at times, but he was pretty good overall.

After we placed our orders, my dad and I decided to explore upstairs. I love how rich the culture is in there. It just screams, "ASIA!"

IMG_6309.jpg

IMG_6308.jpg

And my personal favorite:

IMG_6310.jpg

Such an Abby moment.

IMG_6315.jpg

The wait for our food was a little bit longer than what I normally expect from Disney, but the rain probably had a lot to do with it.

By the way, I tryed ALL of these dishes and none of them disappointed.

My dad got the ribs.

IMG_6317.jpg

My Papaw got the duck, which was surprisingly REALLY good and tender.

IMG_6316.jpg

My mother, grandma, and Blake all got the steak and shrimp.

IMG_6320.jpg

And I got the bourbon chicken, which was absolutely divine.

IMG_6319.jpg

Our waiter even took a picture of us:goodvibes

IMG_6323_edited-1.jpg

Do you not just love our chair decorations? I think they were called something like...um...rain ponchos? ;)

We all got the cheesecake, except for my dad who opted for the fried wontons.

IMG_6326.jpg

IMG_6327.jpg

So overall, our experience at Yak and Yeti was pretty good. The food was amazing and I loved the decorations. I personally thought the dessert was not all that great, but everyone else in my family loved it. Our service was so-so. It was not that it was bad or anything. It just was not quite...Disney quality.

Well, we thought about doing a few more things, but we were basically rolling ourselves around at this point. *cue the Oompa-Loompa music*

So, back to POFQ we went.

Continued in next post

So, the next morning I was really excited because we headed to my favorite park! Any guesses?

:hyper:EPCOT! :hyper:

We headed down to Sassagoula Floatworks and got a little bit of breakfast.

My mom and I got a fruit cup, Blake got some french toast, my dad got a ham and cheese omelet, and my grandparents decided to skip breakfast.

As soon as we got to EPCOT, my dad rushed to get us some of these babies.

IMG_6347.jpg

The rest of us got in line for Test Track. Well, except for our residential Bump on a Log (my grandpa). It said there was a 40 minute wait, but it was only 25 minutes at the most.

There were these two ladies in front of us playing hand games the whole time. And I mean ladies. LIke GROWN ladies. One was probably in her forties and the other was probably at least fifty. It was extremely awkward. We are just minding our own business while they are singing, "Cinderella, dressed in yella, went upstairs to kiss her fella..."

It is so cool...and a bit scary...to think that I will have my permit in a little less than a year!! :crazy2:

IMG_6334.jpg

After Test Track, we all met up and went over to Mission: SPACE (Green Team, of course...once again- BUMPS. ON. A. LOG.). We convinced my grandpa to do it, but my grandma waited it out.

A few years ago, she was riding with my brother in one capsule and my parents and I were in another. Well, right before you step in (when you are standing on those numbers in front of your capsule), they come on to the intercom and warn you-"If you are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant, you may want to refrain from riding. If you have back, neck, or shoulder issues, you may want t to refrain from riding. If you have a fear or are uncomfortable with dark enclosed spaces, you may want to refrain from riding." You know what I am talking about. Well, my grandma took the last part to literally. Not really sure how it went down, but all of a sudden, we see my grandma hurrying out the exit, leaving my little brother ALL alone on his number line. Now remember, this was a few years ago. My brother was probably just six or seven. He freaked out. Thankfully, we had one more space for him so all was well in the end, but still.

SO, ever since, my grandma has not even gotten in line, even though we have told her over and over, that it is just a silly precaution.

After that, we went over to Universe of Energy. I love how cool and misty it always feels in there. Oh, and of course-Bill Nye the Science Guy. My science teacher had an unprecedented love for him. Seriously, like my teacher would make us watch at LEAST three or four videos a week. I kind of took in a love for Bill Nye by osmosis.

Next, we went to my absolute FAVORITE counter service.

:sunny: SUNSHINE SEASONS!!!!!!! :sunny:

I am in love with pretty much every ceasar salad I lay my eyes on. But, the Sunshine Seasons ceasar salad?

To. DIE. FOR.

I was able to convince my grandma and my little brother to try this piece of heaven as well. We also all got the Strawberry Shortcake-which is my favorite dessert.

Figures.

IMG_6342.jpg

My madre, padre, and abuelo all got the Turkey Sandwich.

IMG_6341.jpg

I honestly can not remember what desserts everyone else got.

After lunch, it was time for our fastpasses!! We got placed on the third row closest to the ground. Bummer.

Sorry, but the dangling feet that are in your face just kind of ruin the moment.

But, we had an AMAZING time none-the less.

Next, we headed over to Livin' with the Land.

Now, I have to tell you-Disney must have put something in my grandpa's drink at lunch. He went crazy on this ride.

When we got to to the vegetable room, he was making all sorts of weird observations. "Hey look! A pumpkin!! Someone must be kin to a pump."

...awkward...

We headed over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends next. I love it in there. It just feels so...Disney.

IMG_6348.jpg

IMG_6352.jpg

In the big blue world, I'm gonna go explore! In the big blue world, that I've never seen before. So many creatures....swimmin' 'round the SEAAAAA! In the BIG blue wooooorrrllld...and all of them are waiting for ME!

IMG_6354.jpg

Please note our mid-laugh expressions.

Okay, so here is the deal. This one kid kept messing with us. Like, we would go to look at something and he would get RIGHT in front of us...on purpose. He would try to jump in all of our pictures. He even tryed to push us out of the way.

I, of course, gave him a nice Disney-fied shove back. :)

Yeah, I know. I am such a nice person.

Well, anyways, he tryed to climb up in Bruce with us. Like, I am serious. He was laying ON TOP OF ME. It was SO strange. Well, right before that, we had spotted him picking his nose, then sticking his finger in his mouth.

Ew.

SO, when he climbed in with us, my grandpa yells at him, "Go eat your boogers somewhere else, ya little weirdo." :rotfl:

I died.

The kid just walked away and I promise you that he never even came NEAR us again.

We probably scarred him for life.

Oh well. All in good fun, right? ;)

Enjoying your updates! Love your food pictures too!!!!!

I have to say... I think this might be the most entertaining trip report I've ever read!

Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for stopping by! And oh my goodness- I know. He was freaking me out. After my grandpa said that to him, though...he ran off and started talking to his dad and they kept looking at us. His dad was an...above average sized man... and we thought he was going to kill us. :crazy2: It was truly one of the weirdest moments of my life.

I have to say... I think this might be the most entertaining trip report I've ever read!

Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

:thanks: and :welcome:

HOLD YOUR FIRE!

Yes, it is me...back from the dead once again. Believe me, anything you want to say to me about my absence can not be worse than what I am saying to myself right now. But, the good thing is...I AM BACK.

And ready to finish this thing. So, let's go go GO!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, after our pow wow with Booger Boy, Turtle Talk was letting people in! It was one of the best interactions I have seen so far. One exchange was especially cute.
Crush: Hey, little dude on the front row! Rockin' that blue shell. So, where ya from little dude?
Kid: *looks over at brother, shrugging his shoulders until his brother tells him 'Arizona'*
Crush: Whoa dude! You TOTALLY just had a Dory moment!
Hahaha these are the moments that especially make me appreciate Disney magic.
Figment was calling us over, so we humbly obliged. I have to admit-he's getting to me. I used to not really be a fan. But ever since I downloaded Imagination onto my iPod, well hearing someone's voice every day for a year can make your heart change a bit. So, I am now in the neutral zone with Figment. Maybe in future trips, our relationship will be further explored. (Could that be foreshadowing? :scratchin )
After our encounter with a certain dragon, we were able to convince my grandparents to watch EO with us.
Okay, storytime with Abby: I never really cared for Honey, I shrunk the Audience, but mainly because I always freaked out...like through the whole show haha. But, Captain EO? Oh, sweet Jesus. I just do not know where to begin. The singing and the dancing is spectacular...OBVIOUSLY. I mean, hello...THE KING OF POP! The acting is where it gets a little shaky. MJ does a great job. Everyone does, really. All the HUMANS, that is. I just do not understand the reason for his companions (Hooter, Fuzzball, Ody, etc.)! They honestly just crack me up. But, enough ranting. Everyone has their opinions. Go ahead...JUDGE ME.
ANYWAYS, we decided to take the boat over to Morocco. This was the first time that I can remember ever taking the boat! It was so nice and windy. PERFECT WEATHER.
We had an ADR waiting for us at...
TEPPAN EDO!
Can we just take a moment of silence in honor of the AMAZINGNESS this restaurant beholds?
.....
....
...
.....
Okay, I'm good! :thumbsup2
This was our first time to try Teppan Edo and let me just say-now that we crossed over? THERE IS NO GOING BACK.
IMG_6384_zps4000ba64.jpg
We sat with a very nice mom and her eight year old daughter. They were on a mother-daughter birthday trip. So sweet!
We had a fantastic chef, Yasumasa, who just went above and beyond. I have heard that most of the chefs there are great...but YOU HAVE NEVER MET YASUMASA.
He goes beyond great.
Beyond amazing.
Beyond spectacular.
BEYOND OUR HUMAN ABILITIES TO GRASP HOW AMAZING SOMEONE CAN BE.
There is no word for him. He is just YASUMASA!!
IMG_6383_zps45554b0d.jpg
Anywho, the food was divine as well. My Mamaw, brother, and parental units all had the Asakusa (steak and shrimp). Somehow, we ended up without a picture of this. But, take my word- IT WAS GOOOOOOOD.
Papaw and I decided to be rebels and get the Filet Mignon. BEST MEAT I HAVE EVER HAD. It was absolutely fabulous. (Just letting you guys know that at this point I have used all of the positive words I can think of to describe Yasumasa, the food, Teppanedo, etc. so from this point on, I will be repeating some of them. Thought you would like to be informed. :goodvibes )
IMG_6382_zps6e6d974d.jpg
Here are some shots of Yasumasa in action. JUST LOOK AT HIS FACES.
IMG_6378_zpsd7d3b24b.jpg
IMG_6377_zpsd45158d6.jpg
Blake got a birthday hat since it was...well...his birthday.
IMG_6385_zps24aea235.jpg
We ordered a few Chocolate Ginger cakes and a few soft serve ice creams.
IMG_6388_zps7d004246.jpg
IMG_6389_zps9cb74ddc.jpg
I honestly did not care for the cake, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. And I mean-you just can not go wrong on ice cream!
So, in conclusion, Teppan Edo was definitely a success. It has a big fat checkmark next to it in our Disney book now! If you are considering this one-DO IT. You will not regret it. I pixie promise.
When we came out, there was a performance going on with those AMAZING drummers whose names I do not know. They are absolutely spectacular.
IMG_6369_zps870eed02.jpg
IMG_6367_zpsefd04e65.jpg
We decided to take a stroll around the world (how often do you get to hear that?).
IMG_6391_zpsd0eb2dd3.jpg
Blake was really fascinated with all of those fish hahaha.
IMG_6392_zps7c56b901.jpg
IMG_6396_zps4a976503.jpg
IMG_6398_zps0f8a943d.jpg
And even though we were about to pop because we were so full, we just HAD to stop in Germany. I got a Chocolate Caramel Cupcake!
IMG_6399_zpsbe6b64ac.jpg
And my padre got a Chocolate Caramel Cookie!
IMG_6400_zps7b031494.jpg
We felt like spreading our golden wings, so we headed over to American Adventure. This show is so inspirational, I just love it!
Blake and my grandparents decided they were "getting tired" and decided to head back to the resort.
WHAT?! TIRED?!? No such thing as "getting tired" in Disney World. Not no way, not no how. But remember...we are a bunch of bumps on logs, so...off to beddy bye they went.
My parents and I decided we wanted to stay for Illuinations. I am SO glad we did. I can not remember the last time we saw the whole thing. It was so gorgeous!
IMG_6404_zpsbe5b7853.jpg
IMG_6421_zpse1b2b17f.jpg
IMG_6434_zps8a2d09a6.jpg
IMG_6436_zps9b48a151.jpg
EPCOT was closing, so we were able to run...and I mean RUN...to be some of the first to the buses.
Oh yeah...we were THOSE people.:rotfl:
Goodnight EPCOT!
IMG_6444_zps9cb0288e.jpg
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, I have some big news that I will expand on later because I need to get to bed. SCHOOL TOMORROW.

Gross.

Anyways, though, we have booked TWO MORE TRIPS!!!

One to Disneyland in...37 DAYS!

and

One to the World in 88 days (I think).

I AM SO EXCITED.

jwebnjwk'nwd nwidnw dlwrij cirj;rmwerpasrnheinvoinla

Okay, I'm done.

I will go into more details later since one of those trips will be my first ever SOLO trip! Well, not TECHNICALLY solo, but I still consider it...

But, like I said...MORE LATER. Hopefully tomorrow. I really am going to try and get this finished up pretty quick. And I am considering starting a new TR after my trips. Would anyone be interested?

Well, for now...I have to settle for dreams of Disney World because I am off to bed!

GOODNIGHT DISBOARDS! I LOVE YOU ALL!

you have the honors of being the TR that I have followed for the longest!!! :) Enjoyed the updates. Yes do another TR. My daughter is your age almost and we enjoy seeing the "world" from your perspective. Looking forward to the next installment. I wanted to eat at the Japan place but DD and DH not thrilled with eating with strangers...We are trying Rose and CRown this summer and the japanese sushi place....Did you ever eat there? I think DD wants Rose and Crown to pay homage to 1D!!!

Woohoo! So glad you are still with me hahaha. I think I will do one, as long as I finish this one first!:rolleyes1 As far as I know, I am the youngest TR writer. I always keep an eye out for other teen writers or moms who have kids around my age because I love hearing similar stories to my own! I must admit, it was a little weird eating with strangers. But, it worked out in the end. And you can always just bring more people to fill those empty chairs! ::yes::

I have actually not tryed either one of those. I am not really a sushi girl, nor is anyone else in my family, but it might be worth a try! And the Rose and Crown sounds good! The UK is one of my favorite areas at EPCOT WS!

The next morning we decided to sleep in a bit. We headed down to Sassagoula Floatworks to get some grub.

My parents split a croissant. I had some Hostess chocolate donuts that I brought from home (HOSTESS COME BACK) and Blake had some biscuits and gravy.

We caught a bus right away and embarked to our park of the day!

IMG_6446_zpsed18c488.jpg

(AKA MY TWITTER PROFILE PIC BAHAHA)

That's right! HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS/MGM.

Whatever floats your boat.

We fastpassed Toy Story Mania and then went ahead and got in line because the wait was only 20 minutes!!

I got the red wait timer thing!

IMG_6448_zps11f866c1.jpg

IMG_6449_zpsa66f4a10.jpg

IMG_6450_zps8fc5616b.jpg

After I dominated (HAHAHA-not), we headed over to Rock N' Roller Coaster.

Confession time: THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TO EVER RIDE!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved it! It is by far my favorite ride in all of Disney World now.

IMG_6456_zps0db82605.jpg

For my reward, I got a chocolate covered strawberry, which by the way is my favorite desert. So, if you have one of those days where you just want to make someone's day, feel free to mail me some. ;)

IMG_6457_zpsbd70000d.jpg

After that, it was already time for our Toy Story Mania fastpasses! I did a lot better this time, but still not spectacular. I just have no arm strength.

But, no worries, I have been workin' out just for these next couple trips, so just you watch. I am going to DOMINATE.

HA. HA. HA.

...like I would work out.

We hopped on over to the Backlot Tour next! And guess what?! WE DID NOT GET WET...AT ALL!

MIRACLE.

IMG_6458_zpsaeb31c5c.jpg

IMG_6459_zpsa90262cc.jpg

IMG_6464_zps53f1ff16.jpg

LOOK AT ALL THAT DISNEY WATER!
IMG_6468_zpse11ac7d3.jpg

Be prepared. This is one of the most attractive faces you will ever see in your life. Ready?
IMG_6470_zps9779264a.jpg

BAM.

We were getting a bit hungry at this point so we skipped over to ABC Commissary! We discovered the magic of this place last trip. I feel like it really gets overlooked since there is Backlot Express and Pizza Planet, but this place is honestly delicious. And it is NEVER crowded.

We were actually there right when it opened and we walked down this red carpet when the doors were opened and all the cast members were cheering for us! It was adorable!

Everybody got the Surf N' Turf Combo except for my rebel mom who got the Chicken Bleu.

IMG_6477_zps8c406cf1.jpg

IMG_6476_zpsb81da226.jpg

And the parfait here is REALLY goo! SO, next trip, when you want to avoid the chaos and crowds of Pizza Planet and you are just not feeling Backlot, stop on over at Commissary. You will not regret it!

A Lights, Motors, Action performance was about to start, so we raced over there (HAHA RACED...punny) to catch it.

IMG_6474_zps330d64ea.jpg

I love Lightning McQueen, but I have to admit. I MISS HERBIE!

IMG_6485_zps650e33c1.jpg

After that, we strolled around for a bit.

IMG_6487_zpsabf171f8.jpg

IMG_6489_zps361a52da.jpg

Just walking around San Fran and Hollywood. Ya know, the usual. NBD!

Continued in next post

We did Muppets 3D for the first time in YEARS and I am proud to say that it was not as bad as I thought it would be! It was actually really cute!

We were really excited to try the new Star Tours, but those lines are HOT. The line has always seemed long for us, but this was just unbelievable. And I never remember that much of the cue being outside. That being said, the new ride was great! I love how they pick the 'Rebel Spy'. To me it provides a more authentic 'Disney' experience since they interact with the guests more.

IMG_6491_zps13b8e7b7.jpg

We did American Idol. This is probably my mom's favorite attraction.

After that, we were starting to get hot, so we stopped for some much-needed ice cream. YUM.

IMG_6493_zps400f611f.jpg

I LOVE HIM.

Next up was one of my favorites- VOYAGE OF THE LITTLE MERMAID. Ariel was VERY good! I have seen a few actresses who are kind of pitchy and make the osng their own which is fine, but not at Disney. People come to see Ariel sing Part of Your World, not a mermaid actress singing PaaaaaaaRRRRTTTTTTT of your WooooOOOOOOoooooOOOOOooooOOOOOrrrrlllllllddddddd! If you work for Disney, you need to be THE character, not your won version.

But, like I said. Our Ariel was VERY good!

Now, as good as our ice cream was, we were getting pretty hungry. And, if I remember correctly, we had an ADR of some kind. Hmmm. Maybe at a resort?

OH! WAIT. It's comin' to me!

OHANA

One of the most magnificent restaurants in the WORLD!

We have eaten here every trip for the past 4 or 5 trips. It is just so yummy and filling and EVERYTHING. Every time we say we are going to skip it the next time, but we can never bring ourselves to do it! IT IS THAT GOOD.

Our waitress, Paula, however was not very good at all. Look at this gorgeous pose she gave us.

IMG_6502_zpsf6828080.jpg

I will let you draw your own conclusions.

The food, however was SPECTACULAR.

IMG_6504_zpsc57378cd.jpg

IMG_6505_zps8223f586.jpg

IMG_6500_edited-1_zps06bb025d.jpg

And of course, Blake got a cupcake for his birthday. My goodness, longest birthday EVER. :rotfl2:

IMG_6507_zpsa6a2c12a.jpg

Doesn't he look thrilled?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! WE ARE IN DISNEY, ACT LIKE IT!

My family is in LOVE with the desert here. Like, it is scary. I sometimes wonder if they love it more than they love me. Yeah...

It's that bad.

IMG_6511_zps3ab067f7.jpg

I like it, but it is not necessarily my favorite desert on the planet.

IMG_6506_edited-1_zps1577a576.jpg

HAPPY OHANA FAMILY.

IMG_6518_zps3c742a3b.jpg

IMG_6519_zps6a49cdcd.jpg

We said aloha to our cousins at Poly and caught the monorail to MK and then a bus to POFQ.

It was time for a good night sleep!

Thank you!

To me, Spring Break is the PERFECT time! We are actually doing Disneyland this year at Spring Break!

We are just south of Houston and I must admit-the drive is SO long! But, I just fill the ride with Disney movies and Disney music...oh, and of course...naps. I have cousins that age and I can not IMAGINE driving all the way to Orlando with them. But, I am sure that it will all be worth it at the end of the trip. My first trip was at age 3. I of course do not remember it, but the pictures are SO fun!! :goodvibes
