Hi All,

Flights booked, car booked, hotel accomodation at airport booked now the difficult one the villa. Its a bit daunting as there are so many and as its our first time we are a bit clueless!! We have seen a nice house on the net at Westridge, Davenport and wonder if anyone has stayed there, if its quiet, close to everything and could comment.

A big thankyou in advance.

Cath :cheer2:

Hi Cath,

Obviously this is just my opinion, but Westridge being in Davenport is located quite southerly from all the attractions, hence it wouldn't be my ideal choice.

I have driven around many of the developments, mainly as our first villa rental was an absolute disaster, so I try and choose very carefully now.

Personally I prefer a Kissimmee location, where there are 2 main development areas Formosa Gardens and Poinciana Boulevard, can recommend Indian Creek, Emerald Island and Windsor Palms at FG also Terre Verde and Cumbrian Lakes at PB are nice too.
Should you choose to stay in Kissimmee you are within easy reach of restaurants, supermarkets, Disney and the I4 for Universal etc - the Formosa Gardens area homes are slightly better location wise that Poinciana.

A newer home is preferable and if you choose a South facing pool villa you will get the sun all day long.

I have used the following websites and can recommend them all, most homes should come with a local Management Company who would be on hand should you have any problems.

A villa development map is below also:

www.thedibb.co.uk/villa/map.htm
www.villas2000.com
www.vr360homes.co.uk
www.holiday-rentals.com

Like I say we all have different opinions , I can only go off where we have stayed. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions ;)

I agree with Johnny (our resident villa expert :thumbsup2 ), we also prefer to stay in kissimmee as we feel some of the developments on highway 27 are just that bit far from the attractions.
good luck in what ever you choose!

Thanks guys, that is helpfull, I will now trawl through all the websites you gave me. I think this is one of the hardest decisions as we have never been and you can get things so wrong and spoil your holiday. So again, thanks for your advice and as the time gets nearer to going I will be asking more and more questions.

One more question, to make an ADR, is there a website to go on or do you have to ring the restaurant direct?

Thanks,

Cath :thumbsup2

Hi Cath, always happy to help - it's been quiet on the Trip Planning Forum recently (where is everyone??) hence I pounced when I saw your question - regarding villas the best advice is to take your time until you are sure you have found the right one, irrespective of the location or anyone's recommendations.

For ADR's you ring this number which is valid for all Disney restaurants, up to 180 days in advance - 001-407-939-3463

I stayed at Westridge about 2 years ago, it was very nice, gated community with a very nice clean Clubhouse and pool, I would recommend it. It is down the 27 and is about 15 mins driving time to WDW thats including a number of stops at traffic lights, there are lots of villas down this way now and there is a publix and walmart not to far away. Most of these places are nice and the websites you have been told about are excellent, I personally use Villas2000 all the time now. Have a great holiday. :wizard:

I've stayed on Westridge on the last two visits and it's a very nice, quiet location. However, my experience that it is just too far from the I-Drive area. The road works on the 192 / I4 don't help but on some occasions that fabled "15 minutes to WDW" was over an hour - and this was in a February, hardly the high season!

The people, houses, pools were great ... its just the location that lets it down. For our next visit we're following Johnny's advice and have booked to stay on Indian Creek which is much closer to everything.

Stayed at the Manors North, Westridge, Davenport this year. The villa was absolutely beautiful and the community is gated, safe, and very clean. My only critisism is the distance to the theme parks. If you intend to go every day you will probably find the journey tedious - plan for at least 20-30 minutes for the journey each way, especially if you're going to Universal or somewhere on I-Drive. However, if you're looking for a relaxing holiday with the odd day out or going for the golf then Westridge would be just perfect.

Hi, we stayed at Westridge in June and because of location would not stay in Davenport again .

We have used villas for the last 15 years around the Formosa Garden location on 192 and you cannot get a better location in our opinion. My Dh who does all the driving felt the extra miles were just too much. The reason we decided to give Davenport a try was our kids are now in school and we are limited to when we could go.The difference in price between our usual villa and the one at Westridge was about £500 at the time.

If you are prepared to stay that bit further away Davenport has a large Wallmart and plenty of eating places nearby.

Thanks very much for all your advice, it was informative and interesting. We took it all on board and have decided to pay a little more and be closer to the attractions so after having surfed the net for about 4 hours we have found a lovely place at Indian Creek. I have put the request in to book so am just waiting on a response. Fingers crossed. :thumbsup2

Again thanks for all your help.

There will be a lot more questions to follow so don't go away you lot!!! :)

Me again!! Just to let you know that the couple from Indian Creek villa have got back in touch are we are all booked. Now we are getting REALLY excited as we can see where we will be staying. This trip just keeps getting better and better.
