Western Cruise: What to do after the excursion?

After Michelle posted the times I see that their will be time after most excursion to sightsee or shop. Are there areas near the ports (within walking distance) to shop, hit the beach, or sightsee or at least near enough to taxi and get back in time before departure. I know the ship will have things to do but we were wanting to see a little bit of Key West, Cozmel, and Grand Cayman plus do an excursion or two. Would love ideas on what to do in each port.

Second question: DS (15 year old) is wanting to do the teen cruise in Cozmel. It lasts from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This could be a good night for us to go to Palo's. What night of dining will that be? (i.e. formal, tropical)

Your help is appreciated. Afterwards maybe we can be of some help to future travelers. Although our next cruise if it's soon after the one in July will have to be for cash instead of points, since this one has taken most of our points.

I am pretty sure that there is shopping and other stuff to do around the ports. Since DCL hasn't started this itinary yet- I do not know for a fact though. We go on May 25, 2002 and I will post a trip report when I get back.
The way I looked up my info was to go on www.google.com and search for Cozumel and Grand Caymen. I hit the jackpot! Tons of info.

I have been asking the same questions about which dinner nights are which themes and haven't had any luck either. Unfortunately we are the guinea pigs on the Western Cruise. I am on the 5/11 Inaugural ship and I will take LOTS of pictures and get a trip report up as fast as I can. This should help you out a little. I am planning excursions at all ports and will let you know what I see where.

We have been to Cozumel several times (we Scuba) There is lots to do, shopping,sightseeing or a short cab drive away nice snorkeling beaches. Being the 15yo wants to do the teen cruise you can do Palos. Personally we love Cozumel and probanly will dine out at Panchos Backyard and then hit Carlos and Charlies for a litttle fiesta~
