ORLANDO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Westchester woman is facing charges for allegedly slapping her husband during a vacation at Disney World earlier this month.

31-year-old Asia Curry, married mother of two, had spent the day, June 3, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with her family when she and her husband began fighting in the parking lot, the arrest report noted. Curry’s husband disclosed to authorities that “they began to argue verbally about marital issues related to the stress of their vacation at Disney World.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said the argument, which occurred in front of a deputy, then escalated quickly, with Curry screaming and cursing at her husband. According to the police report, the husband attempted to walk away but Curry started to follow him. A sheriff deputy said Curry began spitting in the direction of her husband and when he reached his squad car, Curry “slapped him with an open hand in the back of his head.”

Curry explained in the police report that she thought her husband deserved to be hit.

The husband was not injured in the incident and despite pleas to the Orange County Sheriff’s to not press charges, Curry was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence.

Curry’s arraignment is set for August 17.

If a person is OK with hitting someone in front of an officer you are unhinged and I will assume it must be 100X worse in private, those poor kids. I hope dad and kids are all gone by the time she gets out and she is forced into anger management therapy, really hope someone from domestic violence support reaches out to dad.

Just when you forget that WDW is in Florida...
Which has absolutely nothing to do with this particular incident. Unless there's a Westchester, FL the odds are that this family is from Westchester, NY. I have no idea of the experiences that family had before the incident, but if she felt justified in screaming, cursing and physically assaulting her husband in front of law enforcement. Just imagine the behavior she might be doing in the privacy of their home.

This is about her. Not WDW or Florida, that's just where it happened.

The two kids are also victims in this case.

Domestic violence doesn’t just affect the parents.

I imagine the kids got to witness their mom being handcuffed and taken away.
They could be relieved to see that there is punishment for violence - my daughter is a foster mom, and has talked about some of the things the kids have said about a violent parent. I'm an approved care-giver for her foster kids, so she can share details. I agree that witnessing domestic violence is damaging.

People just love to insult Florida and Floridians - we're the 2022 version of New Jersey. What cracks me up is most come from states with far more looneys, drugs and crime.

if it happen in public, it happens way more in private.

They have become bold due to the lack of repercussions in private.

For the record, I am totally politically incorrect and when I saw this article online, I chuckled. But it is a microcosm of the world we live in. Disney planning can be stressful...as is evident from the article. The key is to have a plan and be flexible. Now, with that being said, if she would have Genie+ as the root cause...that would have been priceless.

I've seen a lot of couples lose it at Disney. But I've never seen one beat up the other.
Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. If it turns out the couple have had no prior interactions with law enforcement for domestic incidents, I'd chalk it up to a Magical Meltdown. pixiedust: Not an excuse, but a plausible explanation, perhaps.
