Were you a teen mom/have a DD who is a teen mom?

My dad was 15 and my mom 16 when my brother was born. They were 17 and 18 when I was born. My dad did the best he could, my mom was a total loser. My grandmother and my step-mom are the two women that taught me how to be a mom.

What I think is funny is the term "sperm doner". My mom came to my wedding and my brother's ( my dad made us invite her ). No one knew who she was and kept asking us about her. My brother and I started calling her "the birth mother".

I was 16 when I had my oldest DS 15 years ago. His dad, my DH, turned 19 two days before he was born.
When we found out I was pregnant and decided to go through with the pregnancy and keep the baby, we decided we would work hard to become a good family, and not just a couple of kids with kids. DH was very supportive although I offered him to "step out" if he didn´t want to become a father.
My parents (DH parents lived far away) made it very clear that we wouldn´t be living with them but offered us to live in an apartment they owned, if we would finish school. We didn´t have to pay rent while we were in school but we paid for everything else. Utlities, insurance, phone bills, our car, etc. and of course for food and clothing.
DH had one more year left of highschool (our system is different here from the US) and so I decided to go to evening school so that I could stay home with the baby while DH was in school, during the daytime.
When I would come home at night from classes DH would go to work, and work all weekends too.
This schedule worked out very well for us, we both got to go to school and still got to spend a lot of time with our son.

2 years later we decided to have another baby. DH was studying at university at that point and eligable for student loans, which made everything a lot easier for us. I was still finishing highschool, taking evening classes. When I finished highschool 2 years later we decided to move to Denmark to finish our studies.

In Denmark my husband finished his graduate degree and I did both my undergrad and graduate degree in Copenhagen. We had 2 more children while living and studying in Denmark.

We now live back in Iceland and last year our 5th baby was born. We have been married 13 years and our oldest child is now 15. DH runs his own company, we own a house and have come a very long way, in every way.

I watched the show the first time it was on. One of the girls was from our hometown and was in the same class as my DS, just a different high school. It was so sad that her senior year was so different than DSs.

We watched thinking we would know some of the people on the show, but didn't see anyone we knew. I felt so sorry for the kids and the child they had. Life is hard as it is in our town, but it will be even harder for them. It was really heartbreaking.
