Were people who were students in 90s American schools less creative than previous generations of American youth?

I've noticed that lot of the greatest video game and sci fi creators were people who were Dungeons & Dragons players during the 1980s.

Old Bioware, the guy who made Bioshock, James S.A. Corey, etc.

Why aren't we seeing more people who were students in 90s American schools creating video games or other geek stuff?

Did something in the American education system change that caused 90s kids to be less creative?

Was there another backlash against Dungeons & Dragons during the 90s?

Did parenting styles of the 90s had a effect on the creativity of 90s kids?

I am very, very hopeful that the smartest and most creative folks of the 90s used their talents in far more important areas than the video game market!!

Maybe a lack of sci-fi movies? :confused3

I live in the Silicon Valley where the tech culture is alive and well. Lots of kids want to follow in their tech-worker parents' footsteps. Video games continue to be extremely popular among kids, and many of the elementary school kids I work with want to be game developers someday. I wouldn't say that people educated in a specific decade are more or less creative than others.
