It's a little after 4:30am, we're on I4, sta
rting our trek to Ni for Ellie's Christening, which is Saturday. Are we crazy for driving 20 hrs with a 5 month old? Ellie is sleeping hope that will last a while.

We're now about 5 minutes from the mouse, wish we were stopping.

We hope to talk to a lawyer while we're in NJ to find out what we need to do for a second parent adoption so I can also be Ellie's legal parent.

Safe journey! No, you are not crazy for driving that far with a baby. It will be easier than you think!

Hope you have good luck with the attorney. It will be wonderful for you and your Ellie to have you as a legal parent too!

Thanks! We're in Georgia. So far so good. Ellie slept most of Florida

We're hoping to make it to Virginia today.

IF for some reason you end up close to Raleigh, let me know! I'll pm you our number!

Best wishes on the Christening, I love events like that!! I usually cry:)

My only word of advice on traveling with little ones, be aware of how much they are eating and how it is settling in their tummies. Both of mine would get car sick, even when quite little.

Safe travels. May it be the first of many road trips. We always drive to WDW, 1250 mi one way.

Keep us posted on how it goes with the attorney. Fingers and toes crossed here.

Oh and we want pictures of the Chistening.

Your a trooper to drive that far! We do it from NC, takes us 10 hours, but that is SO my limit!! :scared: After that, I'm complaining & ansy. You go girls!! :worship:

We're geeks. We love it actually. I'm not saying the kids don't get antsy, they do, but we make the car ride part of the vacation. We usually spend 2 nights at hotels on the way up and back. DP does all the driving (her choice).

We make it special by having special snacks and games etc. We have them run and kick a ball around at rest stops. Dairy Queen is always a must stop at least once as we don't have one around us and I love DQ. We try to find hotels with indoor pools.

DP and I love the family time for talking etc. Although I must admit having a DVD player in the van (we swore we never would) is wonderful. And we don't let them play hand held games much except on road trips.

It also makes those 7 hour trips to Boston and Rhode Island to visit family seem like nothing.

We were talking at work the other day about our first trip to Disney...

I had to explain to the "kids" how I-75 wasnt complete the first time we went to Florida......

Their heads just spun around at that concept! :rotfl2:

I love road trips! Have fun, and drive safe!

Be safe! I can't wait to see picts!!!

If you end up coming to NJ, depending on where, I am not too far.....I would love to meet you and your princess!!!

I love road trips, never have the time for them but I do enjoy them. Enjoy the time while she's little - soon it will be "are we there yet?" every 10 minutes!

Thanks for all the good wishes.

We made it to Maryland, exit 13 on I-95. We stopped about 7:30. We have about 4 more hours to go tomorrow.

They baby did great!! I'm tired headed to bed.

That sounds like a heck of a long drive (I live in a wee country!). When mine were small they always found the motion of the car quite soothing, apaprt from when they were teething.

I don't know if you have seen, but recently the first baby (a little girl called Lily) was given both mum's names on her birth certificate, the mum who undertook the IVF was down under mother and her partner's name is down in the space under "father". So there is no need for the partner to have to adopt, she get full parental rights from birth in the UK. And I'm sure they will change the form eventually.

I won't post the newspaper article, it was a bit well, foxnews, about the whole thing.

God bless you and your family and have a lovely day.

Diane

We made it to my mother's house about 1:00 pm on Friday. We've been having a great visit, with my mother and my sister. The Christening went beautifully. It turned out to be a beautiful day. We had a great party afterwards with mostly family and a few friends, about 60 people. Ellie was so good did not mind being passed around from person to person. We were happy for the break. :rotfl:
