We're not going to WDW this year - yeah right!

So it all started with our decree to our 3 DDs this January. "We are not going to Disney this year. Instead we are spending $12,000.00 on braces for DD(10) and DD(14). Sorry DD(12) you don’t get to go to WDW because your sisters are getting braces. What are you getting? Nothin! But be happy you have beautiful straight teeth and can continue eating skittles and other yummy sticky things while your sisters must just dream of those delicacies!"

Fast forward to the end of February. DH and I were out to dinner with Dsis (known on these boards as Nsalz) and Db-i-l, celebrating DBIL's birthday. Now understand that I consider myself the princess of Disney world, but if I am the princess Nsalz is the QUEEN! She is a DVC member and goes a few times a year. I on the other hand hope to go once a year (although once we went 3 times within 12 months ). We were discussing our summer vacation plans. Not surprisingly they were going to Disney! We explained that we were on austerity budget and would be going to another of our very favorite places, Cape Cod . We go to the Cape every summer and absolutely love it there. We generally rent a house for a week. The prices are reasonable and we love the beach. Just lounging on the beach all week is a lot cheaper than Disney! We cook at the house and only go out to eat a couple of times during the week. So we’re on a budget this year and it’s just one week and it’s at the Cape.

Then Nsalz says, but I’m turning 40 this summer. We’re going to Disney because I’m turning 40. (Like she needs an excuse) You should come with us. Don’t you want to go to Disney in July?

Pixie Dust 112: Nope can’t afford it this year.

Nsalz : But the kids would have so much fun!

Pixie Dust: I am not going to Florida in July!! I’ve been there twice in May and that was too hot!

Nsalz: The weather is really pretty much the same in Florida and in New York in July.

Pixie Dust 112 and DH: It’s too hot and we can’t afford it this year.

Nsalz: But I’m going to turn 40, sure you don’t want to come?

Pixie & DH: we want to, but we’re not going to.

So we enjoy the rest of our dinner. We always have a great time with Nsalz and her DH.

OK now it’s the next night. DH says to me “Let’s go to Disney instead of Cape Cod this summer.” Now let me tell you I was shocked, he is the practical one and I am the one more likely to say, oh what the heck let’s go for it. And, let me tell ya, as soon as those words were out of his mouth, I was like ok – gave him no chance to change his mind. Justified all the money to be spent. Well the insurance will cover the down payment on the braces, and the van will be paid off in April. That payment is a little bit more than the monthly payment on the braces…. If we can get a good price on a flight and well we could get annual passes because we have to go next April because DD’s band is in the MK parade, and then we can get AP rates on the room….ok we’ll go.

So we talked to the DDs to make sure they would be ok with skipping the Cape and All Stars for little league softball. Everyone was on board! So we called Nsalz and said we’re going too! Then it was time for me to start looking for good prices on flights and rooms. Not so easy for a July vacation!!!

Most of the people who have replied to my TR are members of "our secret green club". We were on the welcome board, but got moved to the community board last week! The thread is fun and funny. I have a few actual relatives on the thread, my 3 DDs, Dsis and Dneice, but the rest of us don't actually know one another other than through the boards. We've all become friend tho! There have been a few times that various posters have met because going to WDW at the same time.

So come visit that thread and start posting with us. Evweryone is welcome!
