We just became DVC'ers and are using for the first time. Our home resort is Vero and we stayed there last year before buying, but are using our pts. for the first time in 2 wks. We're staying at OKW for 3 nites (Th-Sat) and Vero 5 nites (Sun-Fri). Can anyone offer advice for perks we get, but might overlook (the book is awfully thick to weed thru with three kids!) and what room is best at OKW? We have a 7 yr,2 yr and 5 mth and booked a studio at OKW and split time w/ studio and 1-bedroom at Vero. Any tips would be great...it's our first time at this (although we go to Disney every yr and stay at the All Stars) and don't want to miss good stuff for us and the kids...thanks!

Welcome Home. If you go to the dvc board here you will find lots of great info. I havent stayed at OKW yet so Im not able to answer your question.

You will be given a list of current discounts at check in. Enjoy.

We were at OKW in November and had a wonderful time - I know you will too! You didn't say if you had your own car or not - that can have something to do with which area of OKW you might request. We stayed in the Old Turtle Pond area and it was great for me, my husband, our son and my little brother. We were near a bus stop and one of the quiet pools. You might want to consider that area or the area of the Hospitality House where the main pool, check-in and restaurant are located.

We had a first floor room and that might be something to consider with little ones or you might try to get in the Hospitality House area buildings which have elevators. The bus service for Thanksgiving week was wonderful and we did not wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for the buses. We also enjoyed a couple of meals at Olivia's (the sit down restaurant) on -site. If you eat there don't forget to show your DVC member card and get your discount. We ate there twice and I forgot both times!

Have a wonderful trip!

Hi nicksmom!

I copied this thread over to the DVC Board. So, check out responses there, too. :)

Get thee a 1 bedroom!!!!!! Blow off the studio with small kids! You need a one bedroom, so that you can pout the kids to bed in the bedroom, close the door and still have a life with your spouse! Put all the kids in the huge master bed and sleep on the pull out in the living room.

Request a room near the peninsula bus stop. This is the first pick up point in the resort and if you just miss the bus you can beat the bus to the lobby which is the last stop and only a short walk away.

If you get a 1 bedroom, insist on one with the second bathroom access. The original room only had access through the bedroom. The second access means you dont have to risk waking the kids to use the bathroom.
