"We're keeping the moon!" Another Nikki and Tom Adventure! TR link PG. 37!!

February 5, 2012 - Day 5 cont.

The End!

So we rode Soarin' and Test Track and made it to World Showcase just in time for "rope drop" and a margarita!

The rest of the day we just spend walking around World Showcase before heading back to the Wilderness Lodge to catch our ride to the airport.

So I"ll just let the pictures tell the story....
(I'll jump in here and there!)

Because Tutto Italia was closed, the Italy Food and Wine stand was there and open!! Thought that was so cool. I remember they did that a few years ago in Mexico too.

Moroccarita!!

DSC_0858.jpg

I kept asking the guy for a Moroccatini and I couldn't understand why he didn't understand what I was asking for!! Woops!

One loop completed.....and back around again!

I just LOVE that they have this miniature fountain from the Mexican Pavilion INSIDE the ride!

Get your minds out of the gutter!! It was a pork roll or something like that from a stand in China. Not delicious.

And YUMMM!

By the time we came around the UK, an amazing thing happened that we've been lucky enough to encounter a few times already in the past. It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

You might not even notice them if you are just walking by but when walking from UK to Canada, on your left hand side just past the Rose and Crown but before you hit the Off Kilter stage, there are two large doors. There is a building behind those doors that is used for demonstrations during the Food and Wine Festival but every so often, they open those doors and let loose a random variety of characters!!! We saw it and jumped right in!!!

Again, I'll let the pics tell the story.

DSC_0891.jpg

I have no interest in Max but no one was in line to meet him so I jumped in. We then went to get in line to see Mickey and look who else jumped in the line!

DSC_0893.jpg

DSC_0895.jpg

After we got Mickey, who was closest to the building, we turned to get more characters and saw they closed the doors!!!

DSC_0897.jpg

Fortunately, they weren't kicking everyone out, just not letting anyone else in!

So Tom got his pick with Perla (or Suzie?)

DSC_0898.jpg

...and I had a little fun with Eeyore!

After this fun little character adventure, we decided we had just enough time to get one last margarita.

As we were waiting in line, I suggested we get some chips and guac. Tom was like, "Are you sure we have enough time?" "Yes of course!"

So he went to get the guac while I got our drinks. "Meet you there!"

Well I get my drinks quickly and head over to the Cantina. And look....

and look.....

and look....

Where could he be?!

Now I was getting nervous about not having enough time. Finally I got a call on my cell phone, which was difficult to answer with two drinks in my hand, and it's Tom asking me where I am! Ugh!! Looking for you! Where are you?

Well would you believe that when I suggested getting chips and guac, Tom thought I meant INSIDE at La Cava de Tequilla!!!

So I ran in there and we scarfed down the chips and guac (which were delicious by the way!) and then we headed out.

DSC_0904.jpg

A little miscommunication and frustration NOT the best way to end a Disney vaca. But the drinks and guac made it a little better!

A few pics on the way out....

Back to work early the next morning so I purposely chose the 6 something flight instead of the usual 7 something or 8 something and would you believe, we were delayed like two hours!! The 7 something flight left before us! Oh well....

IMG_0684.jpg

But on the bright side, Tom FINALLY had no one next to him on the flight! And that made him happy!

So that's it!! Thank you all for reading along. Sorry it took so long to finally finish this one up.

I hope everyone stays tuned for more PTR info on the upcoming August trip and then joins me over there once that gets started!!!

:grouphug:

Great ending to your last day! I never knew they did that with the characters over by Off Kilter. All the times I've been over there I never saw that gate open.
Maybe one of these days I'll finish my TR. Haha! And I even took another trip since then!

It looks like you had a great trip! I can't wait to join you for your August TR.

We stumbled upon the same area in Epcot for the characters in September when we were there. It's great, isn't it? glad your trip ended well. Can't wait to hear about your upcoming August trip. We leave in just under three weeks. :cool1:

I was beginning to wonder if you would be leaving for the next trip before finishing your last day on this report :rolleyes1

I can't think of a better way to end a trip than with margaritas, chips and guac!! :cool1:

moroccatini.....moroccarita......some delicious alcohol please :goodvibes

Looking forward to your ptr for august

Boo for delayed flights!! I hate waiting around in airports BUT at least MCO has plenty of stuff to do and decent restaurants. I once had to spend lik 5 hours at the Fort Lauderdale airport after a cruise and it was torture! Jack was only like 18 months and I swear I thought the time would never end and there was barely anything to eat.

That looks like the perfect end to a trip! We MUST have another overlapping trip one of these days... I am considering AP's in October...

Aw, I hate last Disney days! :sad2:

The little character surprise was a nice send off, so were those drinks! ;)

I enjoyed your trip report, just like your others! Can't wait for your new one in August. :goodvibes

Boooo! The last day of the trip is always so sad. But luckily you have a new trip lined up and you can look forward to that! :) DH and I are also huge Whedon fans. I actually got DH a tshirt for Christmas that says Joss Whedon is My Master Now! :lmao: We also loved Avengers and I agree it had a lot of the signature Whedon humor in it. I can't wait to read all about your August adventures.

Yes, you have to finish that!! I haven't seen it in my subscribed threads in a loooong time! :)

Thanks for reading!!

It really is such a great surprise to find those doors open. Too bad our trips are not overlapping.

Haha! I know, i was totally stalling on this one!! Not sure why.

Yeah Epcot World Showcase is seriously what I can only pray heaven is like. :)

Delayed flights are the worst!! We were both in pretty rotten moods. Tom kept wanting to eat but I just wanted to wait because there was no definitive time on when we would be boarding. We ended up waiting a couple of hours at least..... sucked!

Last days are really crappy. But the best is when you have another trip to look forward to! :thumbsup2

Oh cool! That's a great shirt. So glad he's starting to get some recognition for his work.

Great ending to your trip! What a neat experience to jump in and get an impromptu meet and greet in as well.... I've heard it was a part of training new Character CMs?:confused3

I love your "sad face" picture as you two prepare to leave. Mike and I find ourselves doing the same thing each time.

And SUPER BOO-HISS on the delayed flight. We had that happen to us at NY Penn this past weekend coming home. The later-scheduled Acela and the Regional to DC left BEFORE ours....I guess the storms really messed up part of the line and everything was a bit of a madhouse. Delays are never fun.

Thanks again for sharing your trips with us, I love reading them!:goodvibes

:sad1: The trip is over. :sad1:

But wow how time flies. You have another one soon :cool1:

Thanks again for another great trip report!!

Thanks for sharing you trip! It was a lot of fun to follow!

Can't wait to hear about your August trip plans!

Nikki,I love your trip reports. To me they just capture the spirit of Walt Disney World. I didn't know you could check your bags on the last day and then go to the parks! I booked a late flight for our last day in January so I think I'm going to add another park day to my tickets. Yay!! I actually laughed out loud when I saw those pork buns, snicker. Looking forward to your next report and I hope you have an amazing time in August!! -Amanda

Looked like a great last day at WDW - I love to squeeze in a last few hours in the parks before we leave too!

And now... less than 2 months until your next trip! :woohoo:

That would make sense about new character training. They were all so great though, so I hope they all passed the test!

We do a sad face picture every trip on our last day!

Time really does fly. I can't believe it's been 5 months since this trip and now my next trip is less than 2 months away! Thanks for being part of the TR!

Thank you for reading!! August plans coming up!

:rotfl2: Love that.

Wonderful report Nikki! Can't wait to read the next one!

Thanks Brook! Did you start your TR yet??

Thank you so much for saying that! That really means a lot because we really do appreciate every detail and always have so much fun. Glad it shows in the pics!

YES! You should definitely add that last day!

Hey Emma! Can't believe our trips are so close!

August Plans!!!

So this trip is nice and long - 7 nights, 8 days! I planned everything out a while ago, mostly around the ADRs I wanted to get. Unfortunately there was one that I wasn't able to get exactly the time I wanted so it has caused some craziness in my planning which resulted in multiple ADR bookings!

Now things are a little different than the usual for us since we're taking Tom's 20-year old niece Brianne. It will be her first trip. Here is the rough plan. It's basically just the ADRs.

Thursday - August 16

Arrive at MCO @ 9:05am (yeah, that's right!)
MK all day

Friday - August 17

Epcot
2:15 Le Cellier

Saturday - August 18

DHS
1:45 Sci-Fi Dine In
Back to CBR for pool time
Evening at Epcot

Sunday - August 19

AK
1:15 Tusker House
Maybe MK EMH

Monday - August 20

Relaxing day
Maybe rent boat?
DTD?
Now this is the night I REALLY wanted 'Ohana for like a 5pm or 6pm because DHS has EMH that night.
Unfortunately the best time I got was 8:15. I guess we still could go to DHS after but that wouldn't leave too much time. And if we're there at 8:15, the logical thing to do would be to stay and watch the fireworks from the Poly beach.

Tuesday - August 21

AK

mini-golf
7:50 Tokyo Dining
Hoping for an Illuminations viewing
Epcot EMH

Wednesday - August 22

10:00am Crystal Palace

Thursday - August 23

Epcot

Soooooo, that is the ideal. I keep checking the 20th for an earlier 'Ohana ADR.

In the meantime, I was able to get an 'Ohana for the 21st at 5:10 so I took that. Which would mean we couldn't do Tokyo Dining that night so I also took another Tokyo Dining ADR for the 20th. BUT that screws up the plans for going to EMH at Epcot after Tokyo Dining on the 21st. I guess we could go to Epcot EMH after an early 'Ohana dinner. Also, if I keep the 7:50 Tokyo Dining on the 20th, we could boat it right over to DHS for EMH after we eat.

Confused yet?? Yeah, me too. I also, just tonight, snagged an 'Ohana for arrival day at 5:10. Originally we had nothing for that night but we might be exhausted so we can take a break from the MK for dinner and then either head in early or head back to the MK if we want to.

Sooooo, that makes THREE 'Ohana ADRs and TWO Tokyo Dining. All because my original 'Ohana ADR is 3 hours off.

If anyone bothered to actually follow that, any suggestions??

Oh, I almost forgot to tell everyone!! (Was reminded from another TR!)

I totally chopped my hair off the other day!! It was getting really long and hard to manage. Even putting it up in my signature bun was becoming painful because I had so much hair and it was really heavy. I never ever wear it down because it takes forever to dry it and then straighten it. I put it in a braid every day so as much as I love my long hair, no one ever really saw it.

So about every 2 or 3 years, I chop it and donate it. (If you followed my honeymoon TR, you may remember that was the last time I chopped it! Right after the trip!) And then never cut it again. (Well maybe a trim once or twice.)

So here is the before picture......

Here is the chopped off ponytail....

And here is the final look!

I actually really like it! It's very easy to dry and run the straightener through just a few spots to lessen the frizz. It's still JUST long enough to put in a pony tail so I think it will be really good for Disney!

I follow your ADR's!! That's probably because I have a few days like that!!

On one day I have 2 Le Cellier ADR's and 1 Via Nappoli... All because I can't decide where we should eat and if it ends up I choose Le Cellier do I want Lunch or Dinner?!!?

LOVE the haircut. I actually cut mine about 4 months after my wedding and never went long again! I have been contemplating growing it out again though as I really don't care for the way it looks right now and thing a little longer may be better.
