Hi Everyone,

We arrived here at WH on Sat. Everything was fine getting here. Kids loved the flight, by dh and I were a little white knuckled. Those AirTran planes are small!

I have a few comments on things here at WH in case anyone wants to know. When we arrived we were told to go to the VillaDirect office to check in. We got kind of lost on the way and called. the girl who answered the phone knew the area less than we did, but we figured it out. When we got there we were given the keys and given the directions to the house. And were told that we had to go back to the office within 24 hours to give them a list of any damages or missing items that we saw. I was a little peeved about that because I didn't want to make another trip back to the office. Anyway, we got to the house and it was fine. Nothing out of place, seemed clean.

After the kids hit the pool I took a look around and noticed that the place was kind of dirty. Not obvious dirt, but not sparkling. Lots of scuffs on the walls and dirt in the corners. The tubs all had stained bottoms. My daughter lost a hair clip and we looked under the couch for it. Gross. Major crumbs. No wonder ants are such a problem. Then I noticed that the downstairs shower had broken shower doors. One of the lights in the upstairs bathroom was broken right off with the lightbulb still attached and working. And there was no Playstation, which they were supposed to have. So I wrote all of that down and brought the form to them the next day. I was told that nothing would be repaired or replaced while we were there. So were were pretty much out of luck with the Playstation and down to 2 showers. They have this manual in the townhouse that lists all of the rules of the place and one of them is that you have to keep the place clean to avoid the ants (they were everywhere) and that we have to start the laundry before we leave. I asked her about laundry soap and she said we have to get our own. So I said what if we don"t and she said to start the laundry without it. So does that mean that some of the towells and sheets are washed without soap?? I didn't bother to ask her that. I dod ask where the cleaning supplies were and she said there were none. So I asked how I was supposed to keep the place clean and we were told we had to get our own.

We're only here for a week and I have no intention of buying cleaning supplies that I have to bring home with me. So FYI to anyone renting at WH where VillaDirect is involved, you might want to bring a few things: scouring pads, dish soap, laundry soap, fabric softener, coffee filters, salt and pepper, toilet paper and a roll of paper towel. These items are not cheap to buy here (trust me). There was also no info here on the clubhouse, pool or park. We had to go find out all of that for ourselves. I realize the owner really is the one responsible, but I think VillaDirect could do a much better job. Years ago my parents rented in Westlake Villas and they gave you a starter kit of coffee filter, detergents, salt and pepper, tissues, etc. It was a nice touch.

Apart from that, WH IS AWESOME.Its so beautiful and thr splash pool is perfect for small kids. We will return here again, but will rent from someone who uses a different MC.

We're off to Cocoa Beach tomorrow for our last day!!

It's common to provide a "starter" set of supplies for homes like you mention, the right way to handle it though is to let people know about issues like this up front.

Thanks so much for the info. We are going to WHR in Feb08 . I am so excited! We are not renting through villa direct. We are renting from Alexander Holiday homes. We rented from them last year and had no problems, of course this is a different resort so any thing can happen. This is the 2nd thread I read about WHR being dirty. And the other one was rented from a different place. (Not the one you had or I will have) but similar dirty problems. :scared: I really hope they don't all use the same cleaning crew.
As for the resort I'm glad to here that it is nice. Is the pool water warm? We are renting a condo so it won't have it's own pool. We plan on spending a lot of time at the clubhouse pool. We aren't even doing WDW this time since we have already 3 times and this time we are with my parents and it would be too much for them to do parks all day. We picked this resort since it looked like we could be entertained there all day with relaxing by the pool for my parents and pooltables, pingpong, basketball ect for the kids. Also we promised my parents and kids we would bring them to see the beach for a day.(We've never been to a beach in FL) Let me know all about Cocoa beach. Let us know details about your entire trip and send pics if possible. Thanks.

We are staying at WH in June. Do you care to share the name of the townhome you are staying at? I'm a little worried- we are staying at a Villa Direct managed home, and they have really gotten some lousy reviews! (Full payment already made, to late to change without losing half of it!:headache: Hopefully all these headaches will not dampen your fun! Thanks!

Go to 192, make a left, there's a Publix 1/2 mile down the road on the right. Groceries / supplies there are no more expensive than any other place in the US.

We just got back from renting at Windsor Hills. We rented a 2 bedroom condo, which was very nice, clean, came with tp, dishwasher soap, laundry soap. The only negative was the MC! Come back in 1.5 hrs, we go back - no you can't have the room until 4pm. Not the most courteous people we've ever dealt with. We had to wait 5 hrs for the keys.

Was it VillaDirect??

No it wasn't VillaDirect. It was Magical Moments..on US192. The condo was excellant, but the MC needs a little assitance on common courtesy.

Kids loved the flight, by dh and I were a little white knuckled. Those AirTran planes are small!

They are....? I'm flying AirTran next trip. I thought their smallest plane was the B-717? Is that not the case? That's a single-aisle plane with about 30 rows....a heck of a lot bigger than the CRJ that I flew back and forth to Chicago last month :scared1:

Hope you don't mind if I add to this Bunnie Trail...

AirTran primarily uses Boeing 717 aircraft. The airline recently added the Boeing 737-700. The 717 uses the 2 x 3 configuration with a center aisle, and the 737 is a 3 x 3 configuration. The coach seats are all 18" in width with 30" or 31" (for the 737) seat pitch... some of the best space to be had in coach of any airline. Both aircraft have 3 rows of business class, and 21 rows (labeled 10-31) of coach seating.

We frequently fly Air Tran have always had good experiences on board. No worries you should have a great flight as long as the weather cooperates.

Enjoy your upcoming trip!

We love Windsor Hills! We have stayed there 3 times and have never had an issue with cleanliness or bugs. We rent directly from the owners at windsorhillsrents.com. You can see inside of the very house you are renting and tell if it is an owner or management company you will have to deal with. Renting from owners saves money and you don't have to find an offsite office to pick up keys, they are in a lockbox outside the home. If you find the unit dirty or lots of things broken or missing, you should probably contact the owner and tell them too. I'm sure they would like to know if their guests are being mistreated or if they are paying a management company for services like maintanence and cleaning but nothing is being done. This resort is too new to have broken showers, scuff marks, and filth under the furniture. I would be p.o.ed if noone was cleaning my house like I was paying them too. As for the pools, they were heated last May when we went.

Hi everyone,
If you rent from an owner you may not always get your keys from a lockbox. The check in procedure is usually dictated by the MC protocol. Some MC's have you pick up keys at the office and some at the house/condo. Also, it is pretty commonplace when you rent a private home that there are no supplies provided. The owner, however, should let you know this. Most of the cleaners/MC will take any of the cleaning supplies left out as as a "liability issue", especially if a child were to get into a cabinet and drink or eat any of these cleaners. This is what I have been told when I wanted to leave Windex for the glass in my condo for guests to use. It is just too bad the some MC's are giving WHR a bad name. It is an incredible resort and most of the homes are kept up nicely. If there are items missing you should call the owner if you know them and definitely let the owner know if they refuse to fix things!!!! That is just unacceptable and the owner needs to know. Many of these owners live out of the country and may not know what is going on.

All true! But...every owner employs a local MC to "run" their homes and clean it.

You can RENT directly from the owners, but you will always have to DEAL with the MCs, as they clean, manage the properties, and take care of any issues, major or minor, during your visit, they are our (the owners) local eyes ears and hands on scene, and you really want them there if you need something!!

Here's the problem I have with that concept though, if someone makes a mess, spills something say, in your home, and there's no cleaning supplies available, they have no way of cleaning it up! They may be great guests, but they can't clean up a spill if there's nothing there to clean it with! (I ran out of kitchen cleaner in Jan...and I dropped a beer in our kitchen there...shattered and spilled everywhere...and I really had no way to clean it...and this concept dawned on me....how could a guest clean it up? ) I don't feel it's a guest's responsibility to buy things like Fantastic, 409...Pine Sol....etc....but it'd sure be nice if it was there for me! We have a kitchen pantry that stuff goes in on a high shelf out of kids reach...do the condos have those too?

If your home is not clean, let the MC and the owner know. The owner will have paid for his/her home to be cleaned and will want to know, and the MC should come by and fix the problem. By the way, we have always been happy with Global - plus they have a 24/7 number in case there are any issues.

That's what I thought...coming from our little airport (PWM), the 717 and 737 definintely count as "big" planes.

Back on topic, I'm renting from an owner this summer, picking up keys from a lockbox. He says his MC is a small family-run company, I'm not sure which one. The owner himself is a little bit disorganized so I"m keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey Snowbunny we are also flyng from PWM. Only in Feb. though. Have you ever flow from there? How is it? We are from the most northern town in Maine so we have flow from Presque isle and bangor but this time we hit a very good EARLY deal from PWM.( so a 7 hour drive south it is:drive: ) As For WHR that is where we are going also, make sure you post losts of info when you get back.:flower:

Yes we have, last trip was on JetBlue though so the Airtran experience will be new. The airport is small and easy to get around - sometimes parking is a challenge as the outdoor lot ($8 a day) tends to fill up, but I've always managed to find a spot in the garage ($10 a day, make sure you go into the long-term not the short-term garage).

I'm driving up your way today, we are headed to Quebec this afternoon. In the rain of course...if I have to drive, the weather will be bad.
