Welcome to my 2011 pre dining report.

When- May 22-29
Where- AKV 2br villa
And now for the Who...

100_0016.jpg

Me “Belle” 29 (with a few years experience) I like all kinds of food. I’m adventurous and will try most anything once.

Dh “Herbie” 30something Again likes food…and not too picky about trying new things… Hates anything with blue cheese

Dd1 “tink” 15 She’s not afraid to try new things but would probably order a hamburger every chance she gets then try bites off of everyone elses plate.

Ds1 “JS” (jack sparrow) 9 (turning 10 on april 28th so will be counted as an adult on the dining plan) Ds is really coming out of his shell when it comes to trying new things. He even tried sushi for the first time the other day. TBH I think he is most excited about the adult deserts.

Dd2 “Princess” 5yo Princess is a bit picky about her meals…I see a lot of mac-n-cheese and hamburgers in her future.

Ds2 “Oso” 2yo Ds is the type of kid that will eat anything. He loves meat, chicken , cheese , fish , veggies, just about anything. One of his favorite things to eat is blue cheese (go figure it’s what I craved when I was pg with him)

We will be doing the DxDP I really wanted to make sure we would get our moneys worth so I went thru each and every menu and did a best guess estimate of what we would eat..and I think going with the dxdp will be the best way to go for us.

So here’s the line up

Day 1 MK
B 10:10 crystal palace (this one is iffy…I would like to make it to this one but since we are staying off property the night before dh would rather do the free breakfast go do early check in at AKV then hit the parks full steam)

D: LTT- loved the dinner here last time

Day 2 HS
B- H&V: have had lunch here and loved it plus Oso loved the characters and will love it more now that agent oso is here

Lunch oop at starring rolls
Dinner..hmm not sure maybe raglan road…would depend on how tired we are.

This will leave us with 1 extra kids credit but I’m sure we’ll find something to use it on. Not to mention the 70 snack credits we’ll have.

Firstly, can I just say how excited I am that I was able to read everything in your post (abbreviations, etc) without looking it up? First time for me! (I know, I'm lame - but I'm new! lol)

Secondly, I'm looking forward to your reviews! You have a lovely family :)

Ok so I finally went and made reservations for lunch at both beirgarten and 50's prime time. One of the reasons i booked 50's is for the "shtick". I'm hoping we get a good server who is in character. Last trip we went to wcc, partly for the antics and partly for the skillet. We were disappointed on both counts...the skillet was ok. I loved the brisket and could have made a meal of the cornbread alone but the rest was just "eh". The service was terrible, our waitress who was named "lazy Suzan" lived up to her name. When we asked for refills on our milkshakes we got half an eye roll and an "ok i'll be back" then didn't see her again for quite a while, when we did we had to remind her about the milkshakes. We also asked for more cornbread which never came. I really want to like this place and i would like to try it again sometime...maybe during lunch we might have better luck?

Oh before i go I have a few questions for all you disers. What are your fav CS meals at each of the parks and why? Also what snack credit items are your "must haves"? I know i want to visit the karmel kucha ( i know i butchered that) in epcot, and i hear dole floats are great...but not sure what else to spend our 70 snack credits on lol.

Schoolbread in Norway is a fav snack credit for us! I have been making a list of snacks to try this trip when I read other Disers reports! I do love Dole Whips, too. Pastries in France are another fav treat for us.

As for CS meals -

MK: Columbia Harbor House is really the only one we eat at. Love the Lighthouse Sandwich

AK: Pizzafari has a good italian type sandwich. The breadsticks used to be a snack credit but I don't think they are any more. To me they are alot like Pizza Huts. A good quick snack when they were a credit.

DHS: Really don't have any ... ooh, except Starring Rolls for cupcakes but that is a Snack! :thumbsup2

EPCOT: We always take a day to 'snack' around the world. Love Tangierine Cafe, a bratwurst in Germany, Fish & Chips in England. I want to try the updated Cantina in Mexico as well. We really haven't had a bad CS meal in EPCOT. We didn't really care for the Yakitori House in Japan but it wasn't actually bad ... just other places are better for us.

I have to say that GoofySon'sMom and I could so go and eat at WDW together!! :goodvibes I second "almost" everything she said!

Love, love, love Schoolbread and the bakery in France :thumbsup2 for snack and for QS we try some place different each time and havent been disappointed yet!

We also like to snack at The Writers Stop in DHS so laid back, out of the way and the Carrot Cake Cookies...mmmm so good! As far as QS here...well we never find any good ones here so we do Sci-Fi or Mama's for Lunch or dinner and the other meal somewhere else.

Mickey's Ears & Popcorn seem to be our biggest snack in Magic Kingdom. Also Love Columbia Harbor House, my son's new favorite is Casey's

Anything cold in AK ice cream, frozen bananas...and we always seem to go with The Flame Tree BBQ my family loves ribs!

Thank you! :goodvibes We haven't tried Writers Stop yet. The Carrot Cake Cookie is on the top of my 'try this trip' snack list!

I completely agree about the CS in DHS. We have always found it to be just 'blech'. We have a 4:15 'linner' at Brown Derby so I am sure we will need a snack. Thinking of trying the sandwiches at Starring Rolls. They look like the best CS options in DHS in my opinion.

Love your eating itinerary!

Raglan Road-I would go there just for Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding. But then as long as I'm there I have to have the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder.

Last year was the first time we did QSDP and not going to RR was one of only a few regrets I had.

Favorite CS...

Kringla-Epcot
I had a really good CS meal here last Sept. I got so much food. I got my meal at Kringla and took it to La Cantina de San Angel where I met up with my DD11 and DM. It was a really nice place to eat, out in the new pavillon. While we were eating we watched a turtle below us in the water. Pretty cool! From Kringla I got a (huge) sandwich, soda, sweet pretzel (dessert) and I think I got a side of fresh fruit as well. (Have to check my photos). It was all very good and plenty for my DM and I to share. DD11 got Tacos de Pollo, which she said were good and a huge serving.

Cosmic Rays-MK
Chicken and rib combo-again DM and I share this.

Flametree BBQ-AK
BBQ chicken, BBQ chicken Salad, and the fruit plate are all good there. We got the BBQ chicken and the fresh fruit and between the 2-1/2 of us, we couldn't finish.

Starring Rolls-DHS
We only got desserts there last time (using SC) but the sandwiches looked really good. I would like to try a sandwich or sushi here next trip.

Cookes of Dublin-DTD
Had the Scallops, Shrimp, and Chicken meals here last trip. All were good, the scallops and chicken were excellent. Only bummer is we could only get fresh fruit cup for dessert. It was nice and fresh but we would have liked to get one cookie.

Wolfgang Puck Express-2 locations DTD
Very good, especially for SC

Best Snacks...

Here you will find many items to use your SC on. There's more to life than just popcorn, ice cream novelties, fresh fruit, and sodas!

but here are just a few of our favs-
Dole Whip-serve yourself at Poly's Capt. Cooks.
Pretzel in Germany
Sweet Pretzel-Kringla in Norway
Ice Cream Sundae-anywhere it's handscooped-Main St. Ice Cream for one.
Starring Rolls-DHS-Delicious stuff here. Loved the Banana Split (not a real banana split, so much better!)

sooo 22 days out and i'm still making adjustments. I'm pretty sure we are cutting out cp on the first day. As of now we plan on doing EMH at Mk on Sunday so i think 8:00am ressies at H&V was a bit unrealistic, so i've changed breakfast on day 2 to boma and then we'll have lunch at H&V. We've had lunch at H&V once before and even tho it has a bit of a bad reputation on here we really enjoyed it. I've also been able to change my dinner ressi for hbd from 6:30 to 7:00..i'm hoping that i can snag something a little later as we plan on heading back to AKV after lunch for a nap that way we will have the energy after dinner for some more EMH's.
