"We're going wild - Disney style" - A Oct 15-25th Pre-TR (10/12...for the ladies!)

WOW! You are so close, can't wait until your fam finds out where they are staying! They will be so excited, you have to get a photo of there faces when they see it.

Well, DD is bugging me incessantly. I have told her if she is well behaved at school up until we go that I will tell her when we get to the airport. (She had a behavior problem right before the trip in December, and we don't want a repeat of that again - she's been told she won't get to visit Mickey @ Epcot Character Spot - one of her "must-dos" each trip - if she gets a note sent home.) She has been promising she will keep it a secret from DW...but she is such a blabbermouth I'm sure she will tell at that point.

The reason I don't mind telling then is there is no way to wait until the "see" where we're staying, only because we are using ME. Therefore, the latest possible moment is when we get in line at the ME terminal. That's assuming I can prevent them from seeing the ME luggage tags at the airport - which have "Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House" printed in big bold letters. So I'm still trying to figure out the best way for the reveal...it seems a small sign in a queue line at MCO is *not* the way to go.

I DID the on-line check-in yesterday. Woo-hoo! Seven days!

Pete, your getting so close! Hope you get the same small crowds that we did, especially at the Halloween party. The only crowds there were right at the parade and the fireworks. Lots of people staying all night though. Definitely more than I'd seen stay at other parties.

Low crowds would be awesome. We'll handle it either way. It's an advantage having a daughter that doesn't want to do 50 % of the E-Ticket rides!

We didn't do many rides this party at all. We each had one "must" me - Pirates and my friend HM. We did a few things in Fantasyland/Tomorrowland if we were passing by and there was no line. Most of the time we spent waiting to see characters, trick or treating and watching the parades/fireworks.

Worst line was for the 7 dwarves, so I'd recomend getting there as early as possible, and having one person wait while the other took in a few rides with your DD if possible. We hit it right away, but it was looking pretty bad later on. The other longer one was for Tink (which we didn't do).

Oddly there was a huge line waiting to get into Minnie's house, but there was no one at Mickey's and that's were the big cheese was. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for Mickey and Minnie as well as for Alice and the Mad Hatter. Sadly I missed Donald and Daisy. They had a bit of a line since they were right out in front of the Toontown sign. I have no clue why there was such a crazy line to get into Minnie's house.

OK - no it's not me with my shirt off - or a picture of Johnny Depp...but it seems like all the women love seeing clothes...so as I was packing for the trip (IN 3 DAYS!!) I realized exactly how many Disney shirts I now own. And I thought I would show them off.

First, the classics:

The "I survived Summit Plummet" was a shirt I picked up in 1997. I think it's still cool, but it looks like we again might go to Typhoon Lagoon - so I don't know when I'll wear it. The AK shirt is from 2000 as I shows right on the front. My DW has a 25th anniversary mickey shirt, which she seems to frequently get comments on - nobody looks at what us guys are wearing. ;)

next up - the years - picked up "year" shirts in 2006 and 2007 - that was enough, but then last December I picked up a 2010 shirt because (A) it was 2009 and we coming twice in 2010, so I'd get lots of use out of it (B) our AP gave us 20 % off (C) the 2010 is on the back of the shirt with a small pocket version and (D) they FINALLY took Stich off the damn shirt and through on Buzz and Nemo instead :thumbsup2:

Picked this one up back when we had a Disney store - they were having a blow-out sale - for $3.99 - kinda don't care for how many guys shirts have Grumpy on them, but of the Tiki line it was the one I liked the best. (Plus it has Dopey and Doc too!)

My favorite recent shirt, just bought in 2009. I love that it looks old, has the quote from Walt, the four parks, and the old fashion "DISNEY". Tres cool.

The last two I also picked up this last trip (The 20 % off got me to open my wallet a bit). The one on the left is a athletic T-shirt. great for golf or tennis, really breathable - that Underarmor fabric I forget - and it's subtle Disney - I don't really like having everything we own Disney - I keep my Disney-love kinda quiet.

The Nightmare Before Christmas baseball jersey has a story. I first saw this on the rack in October 2006 - I loved it. Been a fan of NBC since I saw it in it's original theatrical run (with about 20 other people) and I love how punny the shirt is. The sleeves have "bats" on them - not just baseball bats but the flying kind as well. And the number on the back is a ZERO - with also a picture of Jack's Zero flying through it. (I should've snapped a picture of that.) I didn't buy it back in 2006 because it was $48 and I couldn't think of when the hell I'd ever wear it. Well, I kept looking at it for the next 3 years, and when I got a bunch of gift cards for my birthday PLUS 20 % - oh I bought it!

DD and DW have lots of Disneywear too - I just didn't have a chance to photograph it....so sorry your stuck with me.

Again, though 3 MORE DAYS! HOLY COW I CAN"T BELIEVE IT!!!

DH got that same shirt, but in blue. It's a great shirt! He usually doesn't like their men's selection, but we both love those vintage looking shirts.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: SO JEALOUS!!! :dance3:

LOVE the vintage shirt. It's exactly the kind my DH would wear. He says he doesn't wear WDW clothes but has come up with quite the collection.

LOVE your update!

LOVE the fact that you leave in 3 days!!

SOOO CLOSE! Wish I could switch places and be getting ready to leave!:thumbsup2

Make that 2 DAYS! I'm so close I'm hardly upset that my ticker stopped working. (Not my actual ticker, the bottom-of-the-page kind.) Thanks for all the well-wishes!

I can't think of anything else to update.

Skier Pete - Love your collection of visit Tshirts from the Parks! Thanks for sharing.

It's about 11 am on the 14th October in Oz. And given the timezone differences, I wasn't sure if I would catch you tomorrow....so I wish you a very safe trip and I look forward to reading your TR, including a detailed update on how DW reacted when she finds out that you booked AKL!

Bon Voyage!

ps. Don't forget to come on down to the Other Lands section if/when you are starting to plan for you trip DownUnder!

Woohoo! It is getting close. You definitely have quite a collection of shirts. I had to laugh about you being excited for the 2010 shirt because they had replaced Stitch with Buzz. I never really understood Stitch, guess I never realized he was popular. My kids do watch the tv show from time to time, but Stitch definitely is no Buzz Lightyear!

Won't be long and I will be on the look-out for you and your family in Garden Grill.

Ugh...I know...what is it with Stich...we have a 2006 towel too - Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Stich? It's like one of those "which one of these does not belong" pictures!:rotfl: Actually, we have some awesome character shirts for my DD...too bad I haven't had time to take pictures.

We'll definitely try and catch you at the GG! I might even try and show up a few minutes early to make sure we overlap. I will definitely have my LGMH on my camelback, too!

I love the collection of shirts. For as much as I'm a Disney fan, I think I only have one or two Mickey shirts.

Have a wonderful time on your trip! I can't wait to hear how much your DW and DD love your surpise. :)

I wish I could update at Disney - but since I don't Tweet or Facebook or whatever other verb would be used for remote uploading to the world information superhighway - I'm just out of luck.

I just wanted to wish you a good journey! I hope it is everything you hope for!

True, true! But I'm ready for baby to get here, so we can start planning his first trip! Actually, I am already kind of doing that, even though he is still 2-4 weeks away. :rotfl: I more need to know his official birthdate before I book anything so we can be in WDW on his first birthday! :wizard:
