We're going to be in a DVC Sales Campaign (I think, I hope???)

Hi all,
Just had to share. About 5 weeks ago we were contacted about a picture I had sent of our son on Castaway Cay. This picture was taken 4 years ago. Well imagine my surprise when someone from DVC calls and asks would we consider being on a new sales campaign. I said sure why not. Now after 5 conversations with
the Producer and Director we are scheduled for a shoot on 3/17 at 9am. They will be at our house for about 2-3 hours. I can't believe this it's amazing...I guess I should also say I'll believe it when I see them come up the driveway!

How cool is that Cora!!! A fellow Massachusetts DVC'r doing something cool like that. Hoping that you'll post when you get back from Williamsburg. This is something we are thinking about doing too. Hope it all works out for you guys!!

Hi Cora....This sounds like a lot of fun.

My family was contacted by DVC in July. They used us on the cover of the DVC quarterly magazine "Vacation Magic."

They shot pictures of us on a back lot at Disney and then used computers to add animals. When you see the magazine, the fall 2003 issue, it looks like we are on the Safari Ride at Animal Kingdom. (They had us in a real Safari vehicle they drove out to the site.)

This magazine has special meaning to me because my mom & dad are in the picture as well. My dad passed away a few months later.

It was great fun and I hope you have just as much fun as we did!

Question...everyone has asked us and nothing has been said and I haven't asked...did you receive anything for your time? Not that it would matter...I'm just curious.

From a fellow Ma. Diser, this is so exciting!! You have to give us all the details. I am also interested in any compensation for your time? Free passes perhaps? I would think they would give you something. Thats terrific!

Doug -- You know I had to pull out the VM! What a wonderful picture and a memory of your Dad to treasure.
He looks like he's having a blast. (Maybe he and my Dad are sharing WDW stories in heaven right now.)

Cora, someone on the AOL board is also participating in this sales campaign. They have a family with many adopted children and have appeared in DVC literature before. Sounds like a big new campaign is being started.

Pam... I hope they are enjoying heaven together as well!

Cora.... We did not get paid, no. In fact, they will have you sign a release allowing them to use your image in any manner they wish to promote DVC.

However, they did shower us with gifts. Since we stayed at OKW when they did this, we got a fruit basket, with stuffed Mickey & Minnie Mouse toys. They also gave us a large DVC duffel bag with DVC hats, umbrella's, key rings and a few other goodies.

They then sent us a pair of 8x10 photo's; a Mickey Mouse frame; and about a dozen copies of the magazine.

I think they went out of their way to be nice to us. It was a great experience!

They must be starting a major new campain because while we were on a crusie a few weeks ago, DVC was filming footage of all of the DVC members on the crusie for a "new campaign". We all had to sign releases to allow them to take our picture.

Well, they'll have a bigger advertising budget to bring more folks in at higher prices. Of course, even at $95 a point, it's still a good deal. Hey, maybe we'll get new guidebooks sometime too.
