We're going, so excited! But wondering what's special about the 24 hr MK Event? Are you going?

So, we are going to the 24 hr event at MK on May 22-23, woo hoo! :woohoo: Pretty exciting to be having a very last min trip here, and not having to wait til our Dec trip to get back! My DD24 was texting me, and the first text I see on my phone says, 'I hope you don't think I'm joking, I'm not!', so I was like what the heck and quick opened the phone to see what she was talking about, lol! And now we've booked a room at Pop, getting airfare and tickets set, it's all rather crazy, lol!

But, I'm wondering what is so great or special about the 24 hr event at MK? I'm just happy to be going back, but I'm wondering why this 24 hr event is such a big thing? I mean it does seem really cool, but is there anything special throughout the day that happens that's different than other days? Other than the open and close time, and the special ceremonies around those things, what else goes on during this event? I know this is Frozen themed obviously, which we like(no little kids so we don't get too much Frozen, and we still love it, lol!), but are there are special things going on, like they do with the MVMCP parties for example. And, how crowded does it get? I assume they will have early buses, how early should we get to the bus stop at Pop to be sure we get on in a timely manner so we can make the opening ceremonies? And, why do some people dress up for this event? Also, I imagine they have special items to purchase just for this event. Anyone remember what kind of things they had last year?

It's going to be a crazy long day, but I'm absolutely a night owl, so staying up very late til early morning doesn't bother me at all. It's the getting started so early in the morning, lol! I was thinking maybe we should take a break in mid afternoon for awhile back at the room, not something we ever would do otherwise, but we never go out till early afternoon usually. Can also recharge the ecv for awhile then, too. Will we miss important things if we take a several hour break then?

Sorry to be so long, but I'd sure appreciate if anyone can share more about the past 24 hr events and what I can expect! TIA!! :goodvibes

I went to the one in May 2013 with my mum and it was amazing! We only went from 7pm - 7am but that was the bit we were interested in doing. My mum is in her late 50s and it had been years since she had toured a park so she didn't want to end up being tired by 10pm if we tried doing the entire 24 hours. Plus, she is known for falling asleep everywhere in our family! We were both really excited to do it - how often can you be wandering around MK at 4am? The only things I remember in terms of that event in terms of activities was the dance parties and the merchandise but we were there purely for the ambiance and the novelty of it all. You can't beat watching the sunrise at MK. I would love to do it again and try and do the entire 24 hours.

I'm assuming since this is Frozen themed then it will be more crowded than the one I went to but as it gets to the middle of the night it should be less crowded than a normal day at the parks. People start dropping like flies and you'll find lots of people napping everywhere. Though you never know with the power of Frozen! I don't see a problem with popping back to your resort in the afternoon but that again depends on how crowded it is. We didn't have a problem entering first time at 7pm.

I would go purely for the fact that it's overnight - there's something magical about how the park transforms in the dark. The closest you can get to that is being in MK at midnight at the end of MNSSHP and thats a whole different feeling.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, I can't give any advice on resorts as we were offsite but I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. Enjoy! :)

Other than some extra parties and trinkets..........its really all about the park being open for the 24 hours. We also did the 2013 party, for us being there at 6:30am was great..........we were able to ride Space Mountain 2X, Splash 3X.........all back to back to back. (remember this was before 7DMT). By 11am we had done all our "must do" rides. There's also special parades, foods, etc. We left the park around 2pm with all intention to return for the fireworks around 7.......which we did but we got trapped on Main St because of the crowds. That wasn't fun. When, if, we do it again we'll again arrive early for RD.........stay to early afternoon but this time we'll go back around 11pm and enjoy the late night.

Is it worth it...............I thought so..........so much so that we definitely want to do it again.

Even if there were absolutely NO extras, the opportunity to experience MK all night would be MAGIC for me. Everything is different at night with the different kind of lighting effects the various attractions have, and being on anything high and seeing a lot of the park lit up makes it almost a whole new park!! :)

Thanks to those who shared! We need one of those all about 24 hr MK Event type threads, lol! I did find that the Festival of Fantasy parade will have an additional running, so one at noon and the regular one at 3 p.m. I also saw that MSEP was a 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The 1 a.m. one would be cool! I hope they share more details on the Frozen part of this event, lol. I know it's a kick off for the Coolest Summer Ever, but looking for more details how this event will kick things off in a Frozen way. I hope they add an Olaf M&G, that would be awesome!

And, I agree with the comments that MK is even more magical at night and with the beautiful lights, and all. We are definitely night owls, so evenings at MK are already our favorite time to go.

I figure we can do rides during the morning when it's less crowded, then later get a good spot for the evening shows and just wait, maybe grabe some CS to eat while waiting, then doing rides again later as crowds start to clear out again. Sunrise at MK should be pretty awesome, I'd like to hit the TTA at that time! And, after DD24 found come youtube videos of the opening and closing ceremonies

And, I'm gonna ask again, lol, why do people dress us for this event? I know people do for the MNSSHP, but why for this? That wouldn't even occur to me, but saw a post about dressing up, so wondering what's up with that?

Anybody else plan on going, and making a special trip just for the event, like we suddenly are doing?

We have never done a 24 hour event, but we did stay until 3 a.m. on July 3rd a couple of years ago for extra magic hours. That was a lot of fun. We took a nap in the afternoon and went in around dinner time. This year we are going again over the 4th of July and plan to stay as late as we can on the 3rd again. I hope to be there for the "kiss good night" that I have heard about, but never seen. Lots of time for rides and to enjoy a less crowded park. We enjoyed a waffle next to the castle at about 2:45. My kids were 12 & 14 at the time and they thought it was so cool. I think it is just fun to do something so out of the ordinary. Enjoy. I would love to try all night someday!!!

Thanks, I think it'll be awesome! Hmm, waffles would be great, lol! We went there last dec but were still too full from dinner so we said next time! I'm curious how many QS places will be open very late/early into the morning! A few snacks will help us keep going!

Does anyone know when the buses will start running for this very early event? Wanting to figure out what time we need to be at the Pop bus stop to get to MK by like 5:45 or even sooner maybe if that's necessary. There will be buses, right? Thx!
