We're going home!!!

Well, we had a reservation for VB in May. A family event came up and we had to cancel. Our family event was just cancelled so we are going to Vero in May.

Staying in Panama City Beach for 3 nights so DH can do the Gulf Coast Triathlon and then heading to VB on Mother's Day-hopefully we will get ther in time for brunch. Does anyone know if they extend brunch hours on Mother's Day like they do on Easter?

I think I'm spoiled. I've been checking out hotels in PCB and there is nothing there that even comes close to DVC standards.
Anyone stay over there at a fairly nice place that might compare to VB? I think we are going to stay at the Marriott. They have new Marriott villas there but they don't have any place to get food. I figure my 4 and 6 yr olds will want to eat so we are not staying there-won't have a car for 2 days-DH is staying at a Howard Johnson's the night before the race. I don't want to stay there-like I said, I guess I've been spoiled by DVC.

Anyway, just happy to be going back to Vero.

We're going to swim a lot and play on the beach and I can't wait to go to Casey's Place in town for my blt and then get a tangerine Rita's Italian Ice for dessert.

Yes the Marriott is more for golfers.

Any chance your family could stay in Destin? they have some nicer places.

Can't stay in Destin. We have to be in PCB so I can get to the beach area and take pictures of my DH racing. He is going to stay on the beach one night and I guess I wouldn't want to be way over in Destin.

I can't believe there aren't more major chain hotels in PCB. It's full of condos and time shares.

How far is Destin? I can look it up on a map but if you know..

Yes - also Fort Walton, PCB and Pensacola - I own a timeshare in PCB - Landmark -but it is not even close to DVC standard. Great view of the gulf though and it was very reasonable.

I think Destin is about 45 minutes away. Not at spring break time -then the traffic is horrible - college crowds not to mention high school kids - some away from home for the first time. Everyone out to party until they drop.

the beaches are beautiful!!! I think the beaches are prettier than VB by far - the sand is white not brown and since PCB rebuilt the beach - more beach!

The beaches are beautiful where you are going. Fine white sand like powdered sugar. Soft, soft, soft.

We really like Fort Walton, Destin, and the Panama City area beaches. The sand was nicer than Hawaii's in my honest opinion (not the water, though). But, the water was pretty clear in Destin the last time we were there. Just no tropical fish like in Hawaii
