Hello and welcome to my attempt at a trip report I say attempt because i'm not good at finishing But I promise I WILL not be a quitter this time!
*Who*
Me, your trip report narrator, 35 year old stay at home. I'm the 'Disney' person of the family. Heck, i'm the Disney person of the entire family and all my 'real life' friends. I don't know what i'd do without all my online Disney peeps. You guys 'get' me. I say that all the time. I'm thankful for the people who get me and my love for Disney. My first trip to Disney was in May of 2005. Yes, as an adult. How sad, right? As a child we traveled to the lake and Washington, DC...both of those over and over. Don't get me wrong, they were great vacations, but gosh I couldn't imagine my kids not experiencing Disney as a child. Thank goodness we discovered Disney! We have been to Disney 4 times and then once on a Disney cruise with a couple of days at Disney thrown in.
DH, Kenny, 38. He would be the 'Grumpy' referred to in the title of this trip report. He will not be joining us on this trip. Instead he will stay home and work. His choice. He is a foreman for a concrete company. During the winter you work unless you're laid off. So he's working. That also means he gets to take over my responsibilities...scary. We have 6 cats, yes you read that right, 6. And 1 inredibley insane dog She is non stop crazy! She's a year old and still will chew up anything she can get ahold of UGH Gotta keep your eye on that one! I'm honestly worried at his ability to take care of the furbabies lol Hopefully his mom will help him
BTW...the Grumpy name just sort of came to the kids on our first trip. I honestly can't even remember exactly what it was. But he's been referred to as 'Grumpy' ever since.
DS Tristan, 14 years old...ahh my teenage son. He is a wonderful boy. He is quiet but so funny, prefers to spend his time playing first person shooter games on Xbox live with his buds. I foresee withdrawals about 4 days into our trip This is his first year of high school. So far it's going well. He plans on growing up and living with mom and dad forever while working at Best Buy.
DD Madison, 12 years old...or more like 12 going on 20. Madi is my wild child. She's very stubborn and very shy. She is like me and 'gets' Disney. She is my artist, she loves drawing. I love looking through her work. When she grows up she's never having babies (TOTALLY hates them lol) and plans on being a photographer.
*When/Where*
Our dates are Friday December 9th to Monday December 19th. We are staying at Pop Century and have the free quick service plan. We had upgraded but changed our minds. We all decided that we wanted to see what the quick service plan was all about. And well, Grumpy would never do the quick service plan, he likes to eat, a lot.
*Why*
Initially this trip came about because of the 2011 DisApalooza meet. I decided we just *had to go. Then free dining was announced. So it was a no brainer. Our weekend trip was turning into a week and a half.
*Plans*
I have had such a hard time planning. I've actually resorted to more of a laid back, no touring plans made trip. Heres the tentative always subject to a hundred changes plan
Friday Dec 9- kids will go to school. They get out at 2:30 but i'll probably pick them up at 2. We'll drive to the airport and park in long term parking. Grumpy can't drive us as that day is his companies Christmas party. Our flight leaves KC at 5:20pm. We are flying non stop and arrive at 9pm. We will pick up our rental car at Alamo and head to Pop Century. I've booked a room only for this night since free dining doesn't start until the next day.
Saturday Dec 10- Was planning on MK but have recently made some changes (see, I told you). So we'll get up, check in for our package, still at Pop. We will spend the day at Epcot. Tonight is the Dis party at Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It starts at 9pm and goes til 11:30 or midnight, I can't remember!
Sunday Dec 11- We will be attending a live recording of the DisUnplugged from 9am-noon, approximately. Next it's lunch at TRex. We'll head back to Pop and relax afterwards. Tonight we are planning on attending MVMCP! We'll head to the party between 4-5pm.
Monday Dec 12- Magic Kingdom today. It's an EMH evening. I honestly have no idea when we'll arrive. I guess it depends on how tired we are after the party. We normally wouldn't do an EMH but with MVMCP being nearly every night of our trip, we don't have many options. We *have to see MSEP. So MK it is!
Tuesday Dec 13- Hollywood Studios. We will just stay here all day. Maybe a break in the afternoon for lunch at Downtown Disney. We plan on seeing Fantasmic! and the Osborne Lights.
Wednesday Dec 14- MK rope drop! Not sure how long we'll stay. I guess we'll just play it by ear. Tonight we have booked the holiday sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness campground!! Can't wait!
Thursday Dec 15- Epcot rope drop! I think we'll be here alllllll day and alllllll night.
Friday Dec 16- Hollywood Studios...rope drop of course!
Saturday Dec 17- MK, rope drop, break, then back for MSEP and Wishes.
Sunday Dec 18- Animal Kingdom, maybe? Still unsure, we can't decide.
Monday Dec 19- MK or Epcot, then we have a plane to catch at 3:25pm.
