We're Dreaming of a WL Christmas! DEC 2010 INTERACTIVE PTR NEW: 12/9 BYE-BYE!

I am so excited to finally post about our Disney on Ice experience! My daughter’s 7th birthday was on May 2nd and it just so happened that Disney on Ice:Let’s Celebrate was going to be in town that day! So, I booked 3 weeks earlier than the public with a pre-book code that I got off of Mousesavers. Because of this, we had front row seats! I decided not to buy rink side because I felt that we could see the show better from bleacher seats. We were 1st row seats 1-4

When we arrived, we let the kids pick out two light up toys and cotton candy. The cotton candy had a cute sorcerer’s hat that was included. My son really loved his! I also bought a program that had beautiful pictures from the show inside. At this point, I also picked up my free disposable camera I got with the pre-sale tickets.

We took our seats and waited for the show to begin. I was so thrilled with our view!

AbbyBday20101092.jpg

The kids had fun with their hats and light toys! I think we will bring the light up toys to Disney in December. I found the quality much better than the ones in the parks!

After about 10 minutes, the show started!!

AbbyBday20101101.jpg

The first song was “Be Our Guest” and was a scene filled with so many Disney characters to mention!

The show’s theme was focused around all of the holidays of the year. These are pictures from the “Very Un Birthday” scene!

Next, Mickey finds his sorcerer’s hat and the brooms come out in glow in the dark outfits. This was the start of the “Halloween” portion.

Next was the Halloween scene. It was SOOO cool and creepy! Notice the spider webs hanging in the back. Jack Skeleton was the main character and was joined by all of the Disney villains!! Cool!

After the fab 5 scared away the villains, the Fairy Godmother came out to being the Valentines portion of the show. Minnie was searching for her Valentine (Mickey, of course!) and the princesses joined in the fun of the Valentines Love Ball!

Tiana was ADORABLE! Everyone cheered very loud because we were watching the show in New Orleans, Louisiana so we were all very excited to see her!! Of course, Price Charming Mickey comes to get his Princess Minnie for the ball in the end!

AbbyBday20101201.jpg

There was a short intermission. My DH went to get snowballs for the kids and I took a few pics. Abby had gotten a Belle dress for her American Doll from us that morning, so I let her bring the doll to the show! She was also wearing her Gymboree “It’s my birthday” shirt! She got lots of “Happy Birthdays!”

AbbyBday20101205-1.jpg

I had also picked out a fabric that matched Abby’s birthday shirt well and got a Mickey iron on made for Aiden. I think it came out cute!

When intermission was over, Summer had begun! It was an adorable Hawaiian skit complete with Stitch and the gang! It reminded me a lot of the Poly!

Mardi Gras was next!!! Such a fun scene…you know the New Orleans crowd loved it!!

AbbyBday20101229.jpg

AbbyBday20101232.jpg

Last, but not least, was Christmas!! The toy story gang was included as the toys from Santa. It was really neat!

There was an amazing finale complete with fireworks!! The kids were jumping up and down…it was really fun to watch!

AbbyBday20101249.jpg

The show was amazing!!! We all loved it so much. I was super impressed with the quality of the performance!

After the show, we paid for a picture in front of Cinderella. You got a cute Disney on Ice frame with it.

AbbyBday20101253-1.jpg

What a fun filled 7th birthday! One we will never forget!

If you followed my last TR, you know that we scored FREE Imagination Movers concert tickets! They are filming a Disney Channel special this weekend that is free to residents, but it was very hard to get tickets! I can’t wait to post about it! I got custom shirts made for the kids---hope they come in the mail on time

Question of the Day

“Have you ever been to Disney on Ice or Disney Live? If so, what was your experience like?”

Wow, that show looks awesome! Great pictures! Don't you love how even at DOI it's like a big Disney souvenir stand?!

Yes, we have been to DOI before. We went a few times when we were younger (I remember seeing a Beauty and the Beast show and all I really cared about was getting this little light up rose :rotfl: which I never did by the way). Then last year my sister and I went...it was the 100 Years of Magic show. We both really enjoyed it. There were so many different characters!

Awww I WISH they would bring back a Beauty and the Beast DOI show! A light up rose sounds so great to me :thumbsup2 I have a soft spot for B&TB!

I also heard that the 100 Years of Magic show was really neat. I think DOI is a great value!

YES! Disney manages to put out gift spots on every corner of everything Disney!! haha. I am saving the kids' light up toys for when we go to Disney in December. I found the quality to be better than the ones in the parks.

Great pictures from DOI Katie! It sounds like you guys had so much fun. I love Abby's birthday shirt too, very cute :thumbsup2

I've been to a couple of DOI shows, Toy Story once and Nemo once. I love them, and kids had a fabulous time. Unfortunately they now believe they are too old for them and won't go, and I'd feel pretty silly going alone.........

What a great show Katie! great seats :yay: that was certaintly a very special way to celebrate Abby's birthday.

We were so close to getting tickets to IM; when they did the second release I was not home so unable to try, so I had gotten my dad to try...he had 8 tickets and lost them due to his dailup connection (the three minutes you have to confirm--he computer did not compute fast enough--ugh!) so I cannot wait to hear all about the show!

Thanks for sharing! BTW I just received an invite to prepurchase tickets for the Disney Live in Dec, did you get yours? although you guys will be just getting back from the real Disney :mickeyjum
:wave2: Connie

Oh! we did Disney Live last year...the kids (we brought the little girl I watch with us)...they loved it!

looks like you had a great time at Disney on Ice! :goodvibes

I went for my birthday in 1999 (my 15th!!) - it was three short versions of Disney classics: Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmations & Jungle Book.
It was excellent!

Thank you!! We did have a wonderful time. Toy Story and Nemo both sound like shows my son would really love!! I hope that they bring them all back again. Aww I do not think you will be silly going alone! ;)

Awww bummer!! So sorry about your connection! When did they do the second seating release?? We are excited...I just hope that it is not a stop and go type thing because they are taping it :confused3

I got that invite too!! I got all excited but yes, I am afraid that it is too close to our vacation. Also, we like to lay around the day after Christmas and let the kids play with their toys. Being so close to Disney, I don't think my husband can be talked into that one :lmao: Are you going?? I hope so!! I would love to read a review from you :goodvibes
The story line seems like a lot of fun!

So excited. I'm not from NO but would hace cheered for Princess Tiana! :)

And does Malificient look a bit....hummm...male-ish to you?

Oh wow!! Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmations and Jungle Book sound awesome!! I wish they did another Disney classics one very soon. I would def. buy tickets to that one!! We had a great time at the show, thanks for commenting!!

Thanks!! I know, Princess Tiana seems to be a real crowd pleaser no matter where you live. We were a little upset that they took "New Orleans" out of the music and replaced it with "when you believe" :confused3

:lmao::lmao: I did not notice that about Malificent!!!! Thanks for pointing that out...too funny!!

I know! I get scared when I see the ADR ticker ticking down :rotfl: They have the December hours out right now on the Travel Agent sites. Also, if you use touringplans, they have the crowd levels out for Dec and the reccommended parks. I have a loose schedule at this point and I am just trying to decide on the ADRs now. We wanted to do the CP package at LeCellier, but I hear it is chaning to a signiture restaurant and I do not know if it will be included!! :confused3
Ok. You tipped the scales in favor of touringplans. I had been debating getting a subscription, so I joined this morning. I'm glad I did, since it confirmed my plans and will help me make some decisions on the days I have concerns about.

YAY for DVC! We are going to do a tour at the WL when we are there in December. We are checking in on the 11th. Are you happy with DVC so far??
This will be our first DVC stay. I'm happy so far, though! LOL! I think it's like everything else; you have some things you love, love, love, and you have some things you wish you could change. But overall, we're thrilled with the purchase, and we can't wait to start vacationing as DVC members!
I think my favorite TS was Garden Grill! The menu was new and the food was incredible!!
I think that might be the first truly positive review I've heard about Garden Grill!
OHANA is AMAZING :cloud9: We dream of the smells in there!
Do you love O'Hana's breakfast or lunch/dinner?
OH I LIVE FOR WHITE CHOCOLATE! How will I choose between the peanut butter and that?!
Why choose? It's vacation! Have both!
We were not thrilled with CP. I know, I know everyone loves it! We didn't hate it but it was nothing special IMHO.
That's how I feel about Chef Mickey's. The character interaction is nice, but the food is barely average for me. I've only been for dinner, though. Maybe their breakfast is better.

Well, if you have never been before--I would go with Ohana!! It is an amazing dining experience IMO.
We have booked O'Hana's breakfast, but I'm wondering if that's when everyone is having the great experience I keep reading about. I like that the characters are there for breakfast, but I don't think anyone's heart is set on Lilo or Stitch. I just feel like you get more bang for the buck when there are characters there! :goodvibes

Awe?? They took that out?? What a shame.

Maybe it's because a lot of people were mad about her being african-american and living in New Orleans? Like we can't look past a cliché.

LOVE the DOI pics! Your seats were INCREDIBLE!!! I sooo wish that show would come to Memphis!

I've been to 2 DOI shows: 1 when I was little and 1 last September--we took Ally and Claire and it was now amazing!! (but you know all about that already) ;)

So far, I am really liking touringplans!! They just recently changed to 1-10 scale and I like it that way much better. Glad you joined!!

I am sooo jealous!!! Dying to be DVC one day! Taking a tour in December!

I think that might be the first truly positive review I've heard about Garden Grill!

Me too! I have never thought to eat there. Maybe I should go research it...

Do you love O'Hana's breakfast or lunch/dinner?

Personally, I have only eaten dinner there. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm at night time and the entertainment keeps the kids busy. Saying that, I do want to try the breakfast one day. Waiting to hear Becky's report on it..might add it for our check out day.

Why choose? It's vacation! Have both!

HAHA~!!! You are SOO right!

I do hear that CM breakfast is much better food quailty. That is one we have never tried before.

I see what you mean, but the entertainment for the kids (like hula dancing and coconut pushing with brooms) keeps them busy so the adults can have some alone time! It is great! I do think the breakfast food looks really yummy and the characters are so cute in their tropical gear!

Awe?? They took that out?? What a shame.

Maybe it's because a lot of people were mad about her being african-american and living in New Orleans? Like we can't look past a cliché.

Ohhh we just love Tiana anyway ;)
We were thinking maybe it was a copyright issue?

Thanks for all of your comments!!! SOOO fun writing you back!

I know!!!! We got very lucky with the mousesavers pre-book! I am curious to which one you saw when you were little...I did not know they had them back then?? I would have loved to go see DOI!!

Yes, I remember your DOI experience :goodvibes Still wish they would have let you take your camera in...that is just wrong! Paying good money for tickets like that!

Awe?? They took that out?? What a shame.

Maybe it's because a lot of people were mad about her being african-american and living in New Orleans? Like we can't look past a cliché.

HAHA I have no idea! We were thinking copyright or something like that :confused3 It's ok...the whole crowd screamed "Neeewww OOOOOrRRRllleeeaannsss!" ;)

The show looks amazing!!! I love how they tie into the theme at Disney world! And how appropriate to be celebrating a birthday :goodvibes

I've been to many Disney on Ice shows! We used to go all the time when I was younger. My grandfather would get free tickets because of his job and we would normally get seats in the box suites! :thumbsup2 Very nice. (He was also able to get a lot of free tickets to Disney world, which is how I went so many times when I was younger!) :cloud9: I always loved the DOI shows, they are a great memory for me! I would love to see one again sometime!

Loved your pics from DOI. We have never been. Would love to go sometime....

We spent the weekend at the pool.:banana: Now I am ready to get serious about our ADR's.

What a great view you had! Your seats were amazing. Too funny about the manly Malificent... I noticed that too! :lmao:

We went to Disney on Ice - Princess Classics in March of this year and loved it. Can't wait to see others. I wish the Imagination Movers would come around here.... we love them too!
