We're Doing Disney Again Someday...Plus One! ~ Come Read my Trip Report!!!

We had our 22 week midwife appointment yesterday and everything went great. Dug Baby pretty much does this :dancer: anytime someone wants to peek in on her, though. Not only is she always moving in the ultrasounds, but also when they try to listen to her heartbeat with the doppler. Yesterday, she kept moving so the midwife had to keep finding her again to hear the heartbeat for more than a second or two. We even heard her kick (though I didn't feel it). She finally settled into a spot nice and close to the doppler, so we heard her heartbeat quite loudly! Everything was perfect and I (and baby) am measuring spot on for 22 weeks, so that's great!

Since people seem to enjoy them and we're taking them every week anyway, thought I'd post the last two baby bump pictures.

22 Weeks:

IMG_1260.jpg

I'm generally feeling pretty good. I have a really bad case of "pregnancy brain", though. I went grocery shopping tonight. Before I left, I mentally went through whether or not I had everything. Coupons-check! Discount-check! Payment-check! Re-usable bag-check! Good, right? It wasn't until I was at the store with a couple things in my cart that I realized I'd forgotten the entire grocery list! :headache: Long story short, Dug took close-up photos of it and texted them to me and I used my phone (not a smart phone) to shop. Dug Baby's gonna be pretty smart, what with all the brain cells she's taking from me :rotfl:

Along with everyone else, I agree to let your baby come along for the ride pretty much wherever you go. ::yes::

We got the girls' haircuts just to say we did. All you have to do is have a snip or two cut off just to say that her first haircut was in Magic Kingdom - more for the experience than for the haircut, obviously. Some babies have a ton of hair, and some don't, so how yours will be - who knows?

We have taken babies many, many times - Brooklynn started at ten months, and Bella was 3 1/2. Sophi will break the family record being born in September and going to WDW in October. She'll sleep through most of it.

Joining in!! Not long ago I was in your shoes (actually your shirt - the one you have for your 22 week bump photo was one of my favorite maternity shirts :rotfl:)

I also started a PTR while preggo, maybe about 25 weeks along? IDK. I had a pretty early shower at 28 weeks because of the holidays. Will you be having a shower?

Love your ideas & colors for the nursery!! We did up the nursery when I was ah hem 5.5 weeks preggo LOL and just added some purple and pink once we knew it was a girl. LOL. So excited for your Disney Princess! Purple is my favorite color for my LO, too.

Anyway, as far as the first haircut, it can REALLY depend. Supposedly my LO has a lot of hair (at least, that's what ppl keep saying) and IDK how long it will really be by the time we are there in October. But we'll still be doing her 1st haircut (and actually, she'll probably need it for her eyes by then!). I'd think by 15 months, whether or not your baby is born with hair, you'd be able to get a haircut by then.

My LO is just 3 months right now, but she already loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Doesn't seem to care for disney movies yet, but those things are the only TV we let her watch (though, we do have the TV on quite a bit and she looooves trying to see what's on...:rolleyes1).

As far as ADR's go - we have a ton of TS restaurants planned! I really, really hope she likes the characters LOL. At least, doesn't get totally freaked out by them. Guess we'll find out on day 1 (Crystal Palace bfast for my birthday) and deal with the other ADR's depending on how she does there. Speaking of that, I need to introduce her to some Pooh characters! :goodvibes

We also try to just bring baby along with us instead of plan around her, though being so little that's easier said than done. I think by the time she's older (and certainly by a year +) that won't be an issue at all. Currently she's just NOW starting to nap well, eat more efficiently, etc, though we still are trying to stay away from restaurants - cranky evening baby sometimes. :scared1:

Hmm I think that's all from what I remember you asking! I'm by no means an expert, just wading into the baby territory, but enjoying planning our trip for a couple months from now!! Can't wait to hear more plans for you guys!

Hi Dugette! I've been lurking so I thought I would join in. Love the bump pics! Disney planning was one of my favorite things to think about when I was pregnant with DS.

He was also quite the mover, the Dr always had a hard time finding him on the doppler, more often than not, I would have to go have the ultrasound done so they could find him.

We took DS at 4 months. We ate at Le Cellier, 50s PTC, Mama Melrose, WCC, Olivia's, and Rose & Crown. He did great at all of them except Le Cellier, I don't know what it was, but he didn't want to eat, he had a clean diaper, he just wanted Mommy to walk him around a dark, crowded restaurant.

His next trip to WDW, he'll be 15 months so he'll be getting his first haircut (he's been blessed with a head full of hair:goodvibes) and we'll be doing a few character meals also; Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, and Akershus.

Hello Dugette! I have been following your trip reports for a while. They are always entertaining! I just wanted to say congratulations on your little miracle! We also started with furbabies, who I love dearly and we found out we were pregnant this past September and I immediately began a first Disney trip journal. We are also expecting a princess, due in 10 days!
I find it both exciting and terrifying. Anyhow, my hubby says no Disney trip until she is old enough to remember which I often reply my first was at age 4 and I have memories. I want her to still have that sense of wonder. So exciting. Praying for your little family and following along for lots of great ideas!

Thanks for sharing your experiences, MeMom! :goodvibes I really like the idea of having her first haircut there and getting the "first haircut" Mickey ears, so that's good to know that it can just be a snip or two, if need be.

That's awesome that Sophie will go within a month or so! I bet that'll make for some cute pictures!

Yay! I like seeing bump photos! :)
Thanks! It's fun for me to actually start seeing some differences in them week-to-week now. We started at 5 weeks and it wasn't too interesting for awhile.

Joining in!!

Hi Dugette! I've been lurking so I thought I would join in.

:welcome: to both of you! I have to admit, that I've actually been lurking on BOTH of your PTRs for awhile! :guilty: I found you both while looking for baby planning help. I can't seem to keep up with anything on the DIS these days (including my own TRs!), but I will try to de-lurk and say hi when I get caught up on each of yours!

Not long ago I was in your shoes (actually your shirt - the one you have for your 22 week bump photo was one of my favorite maternity shirts :rotfl:)
That's awesome! I love that shirt! I have another almost exactly like it, except the gray stripes are lighter. The fitting is nice too, as it actually makes me look pregnant, rather than frumpy.

I also started a PTR while preggo, maybe about 25 weeks along? IDK. I had a pretty early shower at 28 weeks because of the holidays. Will you be having a shower?
We think that both of our workplaces will have showers for us, as they always do for others. No one has said anything about it yet, but it's still on the early side. As far as a non-work one, nobody has volunteered to throw anything, but Dug mentioned to his mom that it would be fun to do a co-ed summer BBQ baby shower-ish thing, so maybe his mom and/or sister will step up to do that. I feel super uncomfortable asking anyone to host, so we'll just see what happens. We did just start setting up registries, and we already have some of the big stuff from good sales (crib, car seat, stoller, play yard, high chair), so we'll be ready no matter what, I guess.

Love your ideas & colors for the nursery!! We did up the nursery when I was ah hem 5.5 weeks preggo LOL and just added some purple and pink once we knew it was a girl. LOL. So excited for your Disney Princess! Purple is my favorite color for my LO, too.
Thanks! I'm so excited to get going on the nursery. It's still a guest room, as one of Dug's college friends is staying here over Memorial Day Weekend, but once that's over, we can get things set up. :woohoo:

Anyway, as far as the first haircut, it can REALLY depend. Supposedly my LO has a lot of hair (at least, that's what ppl keep saying) and IDK how long it will really be by the time we are there in October. But we'll still be doing her 1st haircut (and actually, she'll probably need it for her eyes by then!). Thanks, I think we'll just plan to do it no matter what. I think that I had quite a bit of hair when I was born, so maybe Dug Baby will too.

This is great info! I'm guessing our household is going to be a lot like what you just described!

I'm anxious to see how she does! Sounds like you guys have a lot of great meals planned!

:scared1:
I've heard those first 3 months are very different than the rest of babyhood. I agree that by a year it will (hopefully) be much less of an issue.

Hmm I think that's all from what I remember you asking! I'm by no means an expert, just wading into the baby territory, but enjoying planning our trip for a couple months from now!! Can't wait to hear more plans for you guys!
Thank you, I really appreciate all your advice! :goodvibes

Thank you! Disney planning is definitely one of my favorite things to think about these days. I have to keep reminding myself of all the other fun things to look forward to besides Disney!

We've had that same experience with her moving too much to find the heartbeat. Even this last appointment, it took quite awhile to get it and it almost immediately went away, as she moved. The only time that a doppler turned into an ultrasound for us was at 10 weeks, when they couldn't find the heartbeat at all. That was a terrifying wait, but all worthwhile when we saw her on the ultrasound waving both her arms and legs around!

Those sound like great dining choices too. I've found myself daydreaming of Le Cellier recently...mmmmm, pretzel bread! We'll see what I'm craving as we get closer to travel time, I guess! I bet your next trip will be a blast!

:welcome: and thanks for popping in to say hello! I always feel a little better knowing I'm not just rambling to myself! :rotfl: Congratulations on your little miracle princess too! princess: Wow, only 10 more days for you...that would be both exciting and terrifying! I can't believe that we're under 4 months now...time flies! I hope you get to take your daughter on a Disney trip soon. That's a big thing I've heard from people who brought their kids young...the wonder and magic is very real to them and it's a different experience than bringing them when they're older. I read a thread once on the Theme Park boards (I think) where people were talking about this same topic and some people had very young children that remembered and regularly talked about their WDW trips. Anyway, I'll be thinking of your family in the coming days and I hope that everything goes well for you all. So exciting that you'll be meeting your little princess so soon!

Today is 23 weeks. Here's the current bump:

IMG_1270.jpg

I was thinking today about things in WDW that will be new by the time we go back. Here are the ones that crossed my mind:

*The new Fantasyland, obviously. We are so excited to experience all the new attractions/dining! :cool1:

*Test Track will have been re-themed. I love Test Track and have been a little worried about what they're doing, but I think it'll be okay. All the reports I've seen indicate that the ride track itself will stay the same, so I'm happy.

*The Art of Animation Resort will be open. If we could manage it logistically, I would love to go wander through and explore everything over there!

*The Safari will no longer have the poacher storyline and will include zebras. Should be nice for re-ride-ability.

*The bakery in France will have expanded. Yum! :thumbsup2

*The wine bar in Italy will be open. Sounds awesome.

*The XPass system will possibly be up and running. I don't even know what to make of this. Should be interesting.

Anything else I'm forgetting about?

Another precious bump shot! I'm so excited to take DS into the new Fantasyland, hopefully that will be open when we go.:hyper:

Don't forget about Starbucks coming too. I wonder if that will have Fastpass distribution?:rolleyes1

Love the bump pic! Are you in maternity clothes yet? I resisted the maternity pants for a while but when I finally gave in...heaven! I am back in normal shirts already but I just can't give up the comfy pants yet! I'm using my c section as an excuse to wear them still. Lol. I wouldn't want normal pants to irritate the incision now would I?

Your baby bump is getting bigger!! Very adorable. My next trip is planned for June 2013 and it will have been two years since my previous trip when we go. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the changes!!

Awww! You just get cuter & cuter!

So many things I've meant to comment on so far.. but I'm slacking on the DIS stuff. I didn't even know about some of the changes you've mentioned! It's going to be a different world when you make it back with Dug Baby!

Glad to hear you and baby are still doing well. She sounds like a wild one already, with all the dancing when you try to hear/see her! :rotfl: Happy Mother's Day!

I don’t even know how to properly respond to your very neat break up of my post so I’ll just not quote it! But I have also lurked on your TR’s in the past so no worries about lurking on my PTR! I’ve recently come out of lurkdom on PTR/TR’s that I read.

Yeah that maternity shirt always fit so nicely – I loved how the preggo belly looked in it. I haven’t worn it since having Aria, so I wonder if I would still look preggo in it despite being back at my pre-pregnancy weight LOL. I wore a maternity shirt over the weekend just bc I liked the shirt, and some guy totally thought I was pregnant. Despite having my 3 MONTH OLD with me and that sort of being near impossible to be showing AGAIN after giving birth 3 months ago. Yeah, thanks dude.

I *hope* we can have the type of baby that is good in all sorts of places – fancy restaurants to neighborhood burger joints. IDK what to do about making that happen aside from simply going about what we’d normally do and try to get her to behave LOL. So, we do have a ton of ADR’s booked and I figure that at the very least, I have the mindset that anything can change if need be (ie she hates the characters or is horrible at sitting longer than 20 minutes…). Hopefully neither of those things will be an issue though.

Cute 23-week baby bump! Love it!

I CAN’T WAIT for the wine bar in Italy!! Not too many reviews yet, but it looks fantastic nonetheless. We actually went to the Banfi winery when we visited Italy in 2010 – so the Italy pavilion has even more meaning for us now.

IDK what to make of the xpass system either. I’m sort of trying not to think about it, but wonder if it’ll be up for our October trip.

I can't wait to see the new Fantasyland. It's funny to think that our little ones will only know the new version as Fantasyland.

I didn't know about the Starbucks thing! I'm not a coffee drinker, but I told Dug and he was happy about it, as Disney coffee is generally awful. That would be hilarious (but probably useful) if they did have FP for Starbucks! :rotfl:

I actually started maternity pants pretty early, since I lurk some pregnancy forums and saw so many people saying "OMG why did I wait so long? Maternity pants are heaven!" I got a good deal on a pair of jeans at Kohl's, I think around 8 weeks or so, and started wearing them on weekends. I got by with my Be Band and regular pants at work for a few more weeks, then got a great pair of khakis and black maternity pants (plus a second pair of jeans) and have been wearing them since. The shirts, I can still wear some of my regular stuff, but most are not summer-weather-friendly, so I've been trying to build up a stash of longer/maternity shirts. In that last picture, the jeans are maternity and the shirt is normal. However, I actually didn't wear that all day. I had gotten home from work and immediately put on comfy pajamas (super comfy maternity pants and a regular comfy shirt), then realized that we still had to take the pic, so I just threw those on so I wouldn't be wearing jammies! :rotfl:

Your baby bump is getting bigger!! Very adorable. My next trip is planned for June 2013 and it will have been two years since my previous trip when we go. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the changes!!
Thanks! Sounds like you're in the same boat as us, then. Going from 2011 to 2013...lots of good changes coming up!

Awww! You just get cuter & cuter!
:flower3: Awww, thank you!

So many things I've meant to comment on so far.. but I'm slacking on the DIS stuff. I didn't even know about some of the changes you've mentioned! It's going to be a different world when you make it back with Dug Baby!
You know, I was really out of the loop on some of the changes too until I started lurking the Theme Park board over lunch at work (our work internet loads pictures so slowly it makes TR reading almost impossible, so I have to explore other non-picture-heavy DIS boards).

Glad to hear you and baby are still doing well. She sounds like a wild one already, with all the dancing when you try to hear/see her! :rotfl: Happy Mother's Day!
She is a wild one! I'll write more about that in my next post.

Good to know you've been lurking around. :) I will get caught up on yours soon!

I remember reading a review online of some maternity shirt (with the ruching on the sides like that) where the person said that she bought one for her pregnant daughter and liked it so much that she got one for herself. I remember wondering what she was thinking...wouldn't it make everyone wonder if she was pregnant? I can't imagine how that fit would be flattering otherwise. Of course, I've always had a slight bit of a pregnant-looking belly, so I guess I'm used to not showing it off if it isn't what it looks like. It's fun now, though! That guy you ran into sure didn't put two-and-two together!

I *hope* we can have the type of baby that is good in all sorts of places – fancy restaurants to neighborhood burger joints. IDK what to do about making that happen aside from simply going about what we’d normally do and try to get her to behave LOL. Hopefully neither of those things will be an issue though.
I'm really excited to see how she does on your trip! Have you been bringing her to local places to see how she does? I've been mentally taking note, when we go out around here, about what kind of places I see a lot of infants in...I figure those might be good places to start with for us.

Cute 23-week baby bump! Love it!
Thank you! :goodvibes

I CAN’T WAIT for the wine bar in Italy!! Not too many reviews yet, but it looks fantastic nonetheless. We actually went to the Banfi winery when we visited Italy in 2010 – so the Italy pavilion has even more meaning for us now.
That is really cool that you went to a winery in Italy. (We went to Italy on our honeymoon in 2005, but no wineries). The only review I've seen so far for the WDW wine bar was from the disneyfoodblog. She went to a special pre-opening event and sampled lots of things. Looked awesome!

IDK what to make of the xpass system either. I’m sort of trying not to think about it, but wonder if it’ll be up for our October trip.
Yeah, that's one thing I haven't been hearing about...the time frame for implementation. I know they've been testing things and they started enforcing Fast Pass times due to it, but I don't know when they actually plan to roll it out. We'll see, I guess.

I'll start with the bump picture (we actually took a day early since Dug had to go out of town for a conference):

24.jpg

So, first off, Friday marked 24 weeks, also known as Viability Day. Obviously, we hope the princess will wait a few months, but if she were born early, she'd have a decent chance of survival. Feels good to get past that milestone. I'm starting to think this might actually be real and we'll have a daughter :rotfl:

I'm still feeling pretty good. We went out to Wisconsin to visit my Grandma last weekend and brought my mom along. Good way to spend Mother's Day...if you include baby, it was four generations of girls there. :)

We also stopped by to visit with some friends of ours who live in that area. They have two little ones and took them to WDW when the younger one was about 18 months. They said it was a great time (age) to go and that the baby swap worked awesome for them. It was nice to chat with some people in person that were enthusiastic about taking little ones to WDW.

Everyone (mom, grandma, these friends) commented on how "small" I am. It's funny, because I have a co-worker who seems to think I'm a blimp (I walked by once and she just stared at my belly and said, "Wow...."), so it's interesting that people can see the same thing and have such different opinions. I don't mind being called small, though. I will say that I've been eating fairly healthy and exercising, so I don't think anything's expanded except my belly. But, according to our midwife, I'm exactly average/textbook...belly measurements and weight gain, so all the opinions don't really phase me, knowing that.

While we visited my Grandma, she gave me a large baby doll that was my mom's as a baby. I also played with it as a little one...one of my favorite pictures is me, when I was the same size as the doll, poking it's eye out. :rotfl: I'll have to try to scan that pic in and post it...so funny. We brought the doll home, thinking we would use it to train the pets what a baby would be like. They were pretty disinterested, so I guess that's good. Bailey gave her a good sniff-down, but that's about it. We'll see if the animals get jealous if I carry her around and sit her on my lap more (as I have Bailey on my lap right now, and she thinks she owns it). Whenever we get our car seat and stroller out of the box, I think I'll test them with the doll too. Should be fun. Even though it's not Disney, I'm sure the doll will eventually end up in our little girl's nursery (hmmmmm...I just now realized that we could dress the doll in a cute Disney outfit so she'd fit in...). It's neat that our princess will have some toys that her grandma and grandpa used to play with (you may remember we got some classic Disney toys/books from my dad that were his as a kid).

Speaking of the nursery, it's still a guest room. One of Dug's college friends will be in town next weekend and will be staying there, so we didn't want to move the furniture out until after that. However, since we'll be moving our "guest room" into our "office" and combining it into a guest room/small office, we did get some work done recently. We had 3 desks and a table in the office. Yes, we are packrats. None of the stuff got used, except to pile things on, so there was no need for so much furniture. We wanted to get rid of it, but weren't sure of the best way, as none was worth selling (old). Luckily, our church was participating in a city-wide garage sale weekend and they offered to pick things up! We took them up on that and got rid of a bunch of excess furniture. Now we'll be able to fit the bed into the office...yay! Feels good to have that much done. (On a side note, we stopped by the garage sale to see if our stuff made it there okay and I came across some maternity clothes...got 4 shirts for $2.50 total! :cool1:)

The most exciting thing recently is that the princess is really starting to make herself known. I didn't start feeling her at all until around 20 weeks, which is a bit on the late side (but normal). Went on just feeling her minimally for the next few weeks. Last weekend, in WI, I thought I could feel her a bit from the outside, so I had Dug try, and he thought he might have felt her, but hard to tell. Then, a couple nights ago, I was feeling her making some pretty strong movements, so I checked and I could definitely feel it from the outside. So, I figured, since it was quite strong, I wonder if I could SEE it from the outside. Sure enough, my belly was doing some crazy twitches! So bizarre, but awesome! I've seen it a couple other times this weekend too. Dug's coming back from his conference this afternoon, so I'm sure he'll be excited to see the princess greet him! So, yeah, I would say she's still pretty active. Fun stuff! I can't believe we only have 16 weeks left!

Sorry, not much Disney stuff in this update. However, I think we are pretty strongly leaning towards WDW and staying at the Poly. Not sure exactly when yet, but sometime between Fall 2013 and Spring 2014, I think. Can't wait to introduce the little princess to the Magic! :wizard:

Congratulations on your little miracle!!! Ours is due in just 10 short weeks, yikes! Time is flying. I cannot believe you have the patience to wait until late 2013/Early 2014 to take baby to Disney for the first time :) Yes, I have the patience to wait to see if baby is a boy or girl (doesn't bother me!) but I don't know that I could wait that long for our next Disney trip!!! Also Congratulations on making it to viability day. That was such a sigh of relief for me. This baby is a "rainbow baby" for us that was a long time coming (over 3 years) and every day I get to be pregnant with a healthy baby is a miracle all over for me. So glad we're not the only crazy Disney parents to be. My DH and I joke that our children are going to hate Disney so we have to drag them to Disney as often as possible while they are still little and we can make them go :rotfl:

Congrats on feeling and SEEING the movement regularly now. I just LOVED that part. It made my days at work so much better when I could just feel her moving around the whole time. She always was very active during my long car rides to and from work! :confused3

Yes we bring her all sorts of places!! This past weekend we went to the aquarium and she loved it! Friday I brought her to a little zoo by myself and she loved that too. She loves watching other kids. Restaurants are still a bit tricky, mainly bc she can't sit up in a high chair yet and does NOT want to be in her car seat, so we are constantly switching holding her. And frankly we must not be that interesting LOL. She would do better IMO at Rainforest or something right now, with stuff to see the whole time. I hope that once she can sit in a high chair & can interact a bit more, she'll be better at them. Also I don't feel comfortable nursing there, so I did it in the car beforehand, which helped.

Anyway I'm rambling. Your newest baby bump is even cuter than the last!

And congrats on making it to week 24/viability week!! :goodvibes We were also counting down to that week, and then from there you could have a nice breath of relief as each week goes by. I think by week 27 or 28 survivability rate is at like 98%? Something high like that. Ahh the joys of trying for a baby - makes you really appreciate every little bit of the pregnancy! But it's all so scary, too. :goodvibes

Aww, your bump pic is so cute! I don't think you look exceptionally small, you look like you are right where you should be! :thumbsup2 I don't think you get really big until the last few months! Glad to hear everything is going well and you are enjoying being pregnant! It will be fun to bring your little Princess to Disney for the first time! :wizard:

Dugette,
Just in case you are worried about your pets accepting/loving your baby let me reassure you. When I was pregnant with our son we were REALLY worried, we had adopted a dog from the pound who (we discovered after bringing her home) really didn't like kids and would actually snap at them. It wasn't an issue for us at the time as we didn't have any kiddos and had been told we couldn't have any (my son is a miracle baby). We just made sure our friends with kids knew our dog was off limits to the kiddos. Flash forward several years later and surprise I get pregnant out of the blue. Our vet kept telling us not to worry that our dog would know that our child was part of her "pack" and she wouldn't be aggressive to him. Low and behold the vet was right. I have a great picture of my son sitting next to my dog when he is about 18 months old eating dog food out of her bowl. Sharing food is the hardest thing to ask a dog to do so I knew they would be ok forever. Yes, I know, I'm a bad mom for taking a picture before telling my son not to eat the dog food but it was sooo cute :rotfl: (and I knew it wouldn't hurt him).

I love your updates! It makes me so happy for you, each time I hear you how are feeling and doing. I will never forget the first time I felt Dylan moving around in my stomach. I also remember laying in bed, reading, with a cup of water balanced on my stomach (I was too lazy to put it on the night stand), and he kicked so hard it almost spilled the cup!

It's good you are doing a little at a time for her room. We didn't get Dylan's room done until 3 months after he was born. We were remodeling the house and his room was the storage room. I was not happy about that, but in actuality he slept in our room for the first few months in his bassinet.

Can't wait for your next update!
