We're Doing Disney Again Someday...Plus One! ~ Come Read my Trip Report!!!

I must have been posting at the same time as you!

Please! No pictures of the gorgeous Tonga Toast! :sad2: I was not able to eat any on this past trip, which makes me sad. It's so stinking delicious!
Mmmmm, Tonga Toast! I'm sorry you didn't get any this past trip! It is so good. And that's coming from someone who doesn't particularly like french toast.

I love all the pictures of Dug Baby! Her and Calvins shirts both look the same...very drooly :lmao:
:rotfl2: Yeah, she is a drooling machine! Quite impressive. I'm glad she's not the only one!

Love the picture of her in her Bumbo. I should post a picture of Calvin in his. He looks WAY to fat for it or something! She fits perfect in hers.
You should post a pic! How big is Calvin these days? She's still only about 13 pounds and fits pretty well.

What kind of bottle are you using for her? I currently have Dr. Browns bottles but hate them because they leak, and the other ones i'm using are the Playtex Vente Aire. Are the ones you using good for gas?
We're using Tommee Tippee bottles (not the colic ones, just regular). She's done well with them, so we've never tried any others. No leaking problems. We got them because, with the slow-flow nipple, they are supposed to be very similar to breastfeeding for the baby. Dug Baby recently has started holding her own bottle, even lifting it up when she gets to the bottom. Crazy! Also, I got the adapters so that I can pump straight into them from the Medela pump, which saves some bottle washing for me. FYI: I noticed that Target has them as part of the baby sale going on now...online they are buy one get one 50% off.

Okay, late at night and I'm back with more pictures! Had a fun night tonight. Some of the moms I met in the new parent group organized a moms-only dinner. The 5 of us were there for 4.5 hours! Nice to have some other new mommies to meet up with locally.

Dug Baby seems to think any form of bottle or can that I drink out of is very exciting. On this occasion, her eyes lit up when she saw this (empty) can, so I let her hold it:

j1pepper.jpg

Just what the doctor ordered! :lmao:

Awhile back, the new parents I mentioned earlier had a little meet-up at a coffee shop. Dug and Dug Baby came too and we had a nice time. This was from that outing:

Here's a random picture:

Dug's parents gave Dug Baby a GIANT teddy bear for Christmas:

j4bear.jpg

Here she is enjoying her play mat:

j5playmat.jpg

Trying to play with all the toys at once!

We also got her an exersaucer for Christmas, since she loves to stand so much and is becoming interested in toys. She loves it:

j6exersaucer.jpg

She also has taken great interest in the mobile on her crib:

j7mobile.jpg

Random happy baby picture:

I put her on the bed for tummy time one day and Bailey decided to join in:

A couple weeks ago, we decided to try her in her crib for the night. She'd been sleeping in our room in a Rock 'n' Play up until then. She did great in the crib:

crib.jpg

The next day, we took her on her first outing to the Minnesota Zoo. Getting ready to head out with our little cub:

j9cub.jpg

Important Disney training/practice took place:

j10monorail.jpg

1.) We're on a monorail! Dug Baby enjoyed looking out the windows with us.
2.) I tried her in the Ergo carrier for the first time. I used the Moby Wrap up until now, but I figure we will still be using the Ergo by the time we go to WDW. Seemed to work pretty well.

She enjoyed looking in the fish tanks. We spotted Dory (or similar):

j11dori.jpg

Good practice for the Nemo attraction at Epcot. We also got good practice for the bird show at Animal Kingdom. There was a very similar show and Dug Baby seemed to enjoy the birds flying over her head. I know she's looking the wrong way in this picture, but she was mostly paying attention:

j12birdshow.jpg

We got up close and personal with a friendly penguin:

j13penguin.jpg

And she took a nap for awhile too:

python.jpg

Also, for Disney practice, we walked through the gift shop:

giftshop.jpg

Last weekend, we spent some time at an indoor park. Waterfall made me think of the Poly:

Dug Baby fed herself a bottle:

She turned 4 months old on the 20th, so we did our monthly photo shoot. Here's an outtake I like because of the mischievous look on her face:

Amazing how fast she's growing up! Hope you've enjoyed catching up with the star of this PTR!

She is so adorable! Thanks for sharing all the pictures. Can't believe she is 4 months already, time flies. My little guy just turned 6 months. Loving all the Disney talk. The poly will be so great for her first trip!

What adorable pictures!

I love the pictures of Dug Baby and Bailey. :dog:

Baby Dug looks like she fits in her Exersaucer very well. How tall is she? We've been trying to find one for DS because he loves to stand as well but they are all to tall for him.

Where do I start? Cuteness overload. Dug Baby is so adorable and she is getting so big. I love all of her clothes, especially the Death Star onesie. My husband said he wants a shirt like that. LOL.

Very cute!!

Oh man! Sophie was a hit in our house. Probably starting about 4.5 or 5 months. Then Sophie went with us more often than the paci. He LOVES her. He still will start giggling and grinning when I hand her to him!

We also love the ergo! It's been fabulous!

She is just getting cuter and cuter as the months go on! Just adorable! When my son was little we joined a mother/baby group and it was a great decision. So nice to make friends with a kiddo the same age. Even though we've moved several times since then we still keep in touch with some of the families we met at our mother/baby group.

Wow your photos of Dug Baby are all so AWESOME... she really is adorable... I had a big laugh at your New Year's mini ball drop...:rotfl: & I love that she and Bailey are quite the chums...

The Poly... I know I can always come here to get some Poly love... so close to the transportation... & Kona... pressed pots and Macadamian nut butter...(should be illegal) you know thinking about it ... it smells relaxing in there... hmmm.... must be all the running water...

Calvin just went to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month shots and he's 14 pounds 11 ounces :scared1: She asked me how much he's eating and I said between 40-44 ounces a day and she told me he should only be eating 30-32 ounces at his age:eek: He's a big boy I guess! Have you started her on solids yet? She told me to start feeding him some homemade brown rice cereal to cut down on eating so much breastmilk, but i'm not sure if I want to do it just yet. Perhaps i'll just wait until month 5 and give it a try.

I love that you do her monthly pictures with her Minnie mouse and on that chair! It really shows how much bigger she's getting!

How is that monitor working for you? As of now, Calvin is still in our room because he's waking up every couple hours to eat and his nursery is waaaay on the other side of the house, so no crib yet. But looking for a good video monitor for when he does sleep in his room one day (which I feel won't be for a while)

Hope you don't mind me asking all about the products you use. :goodvibes

I love watching her grow!

Not to butt in, but my DD was small at her 4 mo appt and the Dr. also suggested brown rice cereal. We have decided to wait until 6 mo- it's what everything else I've read says to do! She also is still in the Rock N Play in our room. Can't wait til all these babies go on their first Disney trip!

Thanks! Yes, time really flies by! I can't believe your little guy is 6 months already. I can't wait to take her to the Poly. And WDW, of course.

What adorable pictures!

I love the pictures of Dug Baby and Bailey. :dog:
Thanks! She has taken such an interest in Bailey recently. She just wants to pet her and laugh at her. I think Bailey will be more interested once Dug Baby learns how to throw a ball so they can play fetch :rotfl:

Baby Dug looks like she fits in her Exersaucer very well. How tall is she? We've been trying to find one for DS because he loves to stand as well but they are all to tall for him.
We just had a pediatrician appointment today, so I can tell you she is 25 inches (80th %). We have the exersaucer on the shortest setting. When we first tried her in it, she had trouble reaching the bottom. I had read reviews from people who had put things on the bottom (a textbook, a folded up blanket, etc.), so I tried that, but it didn't really work that great. Although, my lap desk (hard top, cushy bottom) worked okay. What helped us most was realizing that she was not too stable and instead stuffing the back of her seat with the Moby Wrap I had laying around (a blanket would work too). Keeps her standing up straight and her feet touch the actual bottom that way.

Where do I start? Cuteness overload. Dug Baby is so adorable and she is getting so big. I love all of her clothes, especially the Death Star onesie. My husband said he wants a shirt like that. LOL.
Dug said he found it on Cafe Press. Not sure if they make husband shirts, though! :rotfl: Yeah, she has quite the wardrobe right now. A lot of the stuff we got as gifts fits her at this size (she can wear 0-3 mo, 3 mo, and 3-6 mo, depending on the item).

Very cute!!

That's awesome that Sophie was such a hit. Dug Baby is not convinced yet. She is still a big fan of her paci, though. I'm sure Sophie will get more interesting in the next month or so. I'm glad to hear that you like the Ergo. I've heard good things about it, but it's still a little foreign to me. I got used to the Moby during my leave, but this is so different. I think I just need to use it more and get used to getting it on and off, adjusting it, etc. I think it would be handy to have at WDW (along with the stroller).

What a cutie! Thanks for sharing - you put a smile on my face!
Thanks! :goodvibes Hope your little one is doing well too! (I've fallen behind on your PTR...)

OMG!!! Such a cute baby! :D
Thank you! :goodvibes

Thanks. Wow, that's awesome that you're still in touch with some other families from that group! It's really neat to have some moms to talk to that have babies so close in age. Hopefully the babies can become friends too. I'm glad I stumbled across this group.

Thank you. Yeah, the ball drop was fun. She loved watching the tennis ball slowly drop. Bailey liked it too. :rotfl:

Ah, the Poly... :cloud9: Wish I were there right now!

Wow, Calvin's a big guy! We just had our 4 month appt. this morning. She weighed in at 13 lb. 9 oz. (50th %), 25 in. long (80th %) and 16.5 in. head (75th %). Sounds like Calvin is eating a lot! Dug Baby usually takes in 12-16 oz. while I'm gone during the day and nurses the rest of the time, so I don't know exactly what she's getting. But she gained around 10 oz. in the last week, which is pretty crazy! I have heard that breastfed babies should eat 19-30 oz./day and typically eat 1-1.5 oz. for each hour that you are away from them (kellymom.com is a good resource for this info). We have not started solids yet. Our pediatrician said today that anytime from 4-6 months is fine and some rice cereal is fine, but not to do that exclusively and to use oatmeal and fruit/veggie purees too. I'm planning to wait until closer to 6 months, as I've heard that their digestive systems are better developed at that point. I'm also just starting to read a book about "baby led weaning", which is essentially skipping cereals and purees and going right to self-feeding table foods. Not sure what we'll do yet, but I'm thinking maybe a mix of that and purees starting around 6 months. We'll see. For the first year, their main source of nutrition should be breastmilk or formula and all food is just for "practice" anyway. I wonder if Calvin was going through a growth spurt with all that eating? Also, not sure how he's being fed, but sometimes breastfed babies can overeat from bottles, since they can't control them as well. I know there are good articles online about how to bottle feed a breastfed baby (that kellymom site has good info on that too). Might be something to look at, but, then again, he might just be a big eater. Geez, sorry for such a long response! :rotfl:

I love that you do her monthly pictures with her Minnie mouse and on that chair! It really shows how much bigger she's getting!
Thanks! I've seen other people do similar things and liked it and copied it. I love how she went from being indifferent to Minnie and flopped over on the chair to being playful with Minnie and sitting up in the chair.

But looking for a good video monitor for when he does sleep in his room one day (which I feel won't be for a while)
Love it! We have the Motorola one (3.5 in., I think) and it is great. I'm watching her sleep on it right now, actually! I am such a visual person that an audio-only monitor would have me running up to peek in on her all the time. This is so much easier. Especially when she makes noises where you can't quite tell if she's upset...I can look and easily tell if she's awake and fussing or asleep and about to settle again. We just moved her to her crib/nursery a couple weeks ago. I didn't think she'd do so well, so I thought it would be a gradual transition. But, she did great and has been there ever since. The monitor was also nice before we transitioned because we'd use it if we got up for the day before she did...watch her in our room in her Rock 'n' Play while we went downstairs.

Hope you don't mind me asking all about the products you use. :goodvibes
Not at all! :goodvibes

I love watching her grow!

Sounds like we're in the same boat on waiting until 6 months. I do want to have Dug Baby start sitting in her high chair at the table with us soon, though, because that way we can see when/if she starts becoming interested in food. She generally has not been, but she was trying to grab my sandwich out of my hand when we went out for lunch today. :rotfl: If she seems ready sooner than 6 months, maybe we'll try something, but the plan is to wait until then.

Love that Rock 'n' Play. We're still using it for naps and for extended outings/visits. We just have to make sure to strap her in now, since she's strong enough that I worry she could flip herself out of it (part of why we moved her to the crib).

It's going to be so amazing to take them to Disney! Seeing the magic reflected in her little (giant) eyes will be incredible! pixiedust:

Dugette,
I encourage you to stick with your plan and not start solids until 6 months. Latest research shows that it is better for baby to stay on either breast milk or formula solely until 6 months. One of the reasons to avoid solids until 6 mo is that there is belief now in the medical community that one of the reasons we are seeing so many more food allergies is that we are starting our babies on solid food too soon. Just my 2 cents, nobody knows what is best for Dug Baby better than you do!

Thanks, Mom&RN. So far, she's just on milk. Still sticking to the plan of waiting until 6 months. Just not really decided on what approach I want to take to solids...the "baby-led weaning" idea appeals to me (essentially going straight to finger foods and skipping cereals/purees...baby self-feeds), but I'm not opposed to purees, so maybe we'll do some sort of combo. I have almost a month to figure that out still, I guess.

Just a quick response I'm on my phone but we ended up doing a mix... Mostly baby led weaning. I highly recommend the baby led weaning cookbook book. It explains everything so well! We had to introduce baby oatmeal cereal because the little tiny bits of solids really constipated our little guy. The oatmeal helps. It's a mess though because he wants to feed himself and not be fed with a spoon but it's fun :)

Great, thanks for responding! So, sounds like a mix is feasible. I actually have the Baby Led Weaning Cookbook checked out of the library right now and have been working my way through it here and there. What foods did you start with? Thanks!

Sorry I've been scarce around these parts lately! Between work, baby, baby being sick, and me being sick, it's been hard to get much of anything done. But I've slowly been going through photos and just got them into Photobucket while she was enjoying her exersaucer. Now Dug's going to try to get her down for a nap, so hopefully that will give me some time to get this double-post up! (We're "Soarin'" her to sleep right now!)

Let's start with the last month's pictures, in random order!

She came to visit me at work one day while Dug was still home with her:

workvisit_zps6af388d5.jpg

Still loves the exersaucer:

exersaucing_zpsf7f223dc.jpg

She only turns one direction in it, though. Is that normal? Or should I be worried?

I put her in her highchair with toys to watch me eat one meal, just to try it out:

highchair_zpsbc7223d3.jpg

So tiny!

Bailey continues to "help" with tummy time:

IMG_0144_zps21540d01.jpg

And Dug Baby loves Bailey:

IMG_0138_zps6a939232.jpg

Her little face just lights up when Bailey comes near. And she usually tries to lunge forward to touch her.

Everyone who tells us she looks like a doll might be right:

dollface_zps0da07601.jpg

More tummy time:

IMG_0233_zps7f64599d.jpg

Hey, look, there's Bailey:

IMG_0246_zpse2fc8f1d.jpg

Must touch Bailey:

IMG_0247_zps9e4b6544.jpg

Yeah, we like each other:

IMG_0250_zps4404b398.jpg

At the Mall of America:

IMG_4700_zpsaf540fe0.jpg

First roll-over was during the Superbowl:

IMG_4705_zps76a8a2ca.jpg

She's only rolled a few times, front to back. Never back to front (though she tries). Soon, I'm sure. (Oh, hey, round 3 of Soarin' and she's asleep...yay!!)

Hanging out with her big bear:

IMG_4703_zps18921230.jpg

Dinner out:

IMG_4725_zps248c0015.jpg

Yeah, she wanted some wine. Silly baby!

Important Disney training for us--we consumed a chocolate peanut butter cupcake from a local place:

IMG_4804_zpsc8620fb2.jpg

Not the same as the Starring Rolls one, but good nonetheless!

I think this is from Dug's last day with her before he went back to work:

IMG_4808_zps08a26b76.jpg

And her first day of daycare drop-off:

IMG_4828_zpsfe2a76c5.jpg

She seems to be getting more comfortable there and loves the little kids (and they love her). She's been going for two weeks, but got sick after just one. A cold (her second) and a double ear infection (her first). This was from last weekend before we brought her to the doctor:

sickbaby_zps12277a7f.jpg

Poor sick baby! She's doing much better now, but still coughing and runny nose. Meanwhile, I've got some weird mutant cold myself that is comprised of flu-like symptoms. And miserable. But the flu test was negative. I just want to feel better soon!

Anyway, Dug Baby also attended her first Mardi Gras at a local high school:

IMG_4843_zps61c76164.jpg

IMG_4861_zps6a721915.jpg

She gave it a thumbs up on the way out:

thumbsup_zps791662ac.jpg

She experienced her first Valentine's Day:

IMG_4871_zps6fc0849e.jpg

And a little boy at daycare even made her a Valentine! So sweet!

She also tried on a silly prop I got from a work meeting:

IMG_4873_zps6f740c82.jpg

Here she is before her 5-month photo shoot (those will be in the next post):

IMG_0267_zps0a679a3d.jpg

And here she is yesterday, looking like such a little person:

IMG_4881_zps5d41cd14.jpg

Okay, 5-month pics and some info on extra Disney $$ in the next post! (as long as she stays asleep!)
