Hi all, just wanted to say we're back (actually got back on Wednesday) and give a run down of my trip with my niece for her sweet 16.
The first day was great! We both landed early, took a cab to our hotel, and were at Disneyland by 9:30am (12 minutes after I was supposed to land!) The super 8 on Katella isn't a bad hotel, although the walk gets old real quick.
It was Saturday March 12 and believe it or not, we rode 22 rides that day and watched F! We closed the park and walked back to the Super 8.
Day 2 was nice, too. We meant to hit the MM on Sunday, but my phone didn't reset to daylight savings for some reason, so we only made regular rope drop. We took a 3 hour break in the afternoon and still managed to ride 25 rides and watched Aladin and WOC-from the blue section! Some rides were repeats, though. I also upgraded to an AP for the first time, which I'm really excited about!
Day 3 and 4 were not so much fun. The spring break crowd had hit and my niece was getting, shall we say, cranky
It was like pulling teeth to get her on anything that wasn't a thrill ride for those 2 days. I'm so used to going with pre-schoolers, that this was a real shock to my system. Couldn't even get her on Soarin, GRR or Piarates on these days. Let me tell you, as much as I love TOT, Screamin, BTMRR, SM, and Indy, they get really old after 28 hours! I'm also not much of a shopper, so the 6 hours we spent shopping was pretty exhausting, too. That just isn't really disneyland for me. I actually couldn't wait to go home
I missed riding Dumbo, Tea Cups, PP, all of bugs land, TSMM, and BLAB. I also missed the character interaction. Thankfully we had a character meal on Tuesday morning, or I wouldn't have seen a single character the whole time we were there!
I'm chalking this up to experience and am currently planning a trip with my family (DH, DMIL, DS5, DS2) for late Aug or early Sept (right after labor day). I'm also going to try to sneak in a trip with just my DS5 and I in late May. I need to go back, as I feel like that wasn't really a Disneyland vacation. I am glad we went and we did make some memories for a life time.

Teenagers are so hard to plan for, I hope she remembers the good parts and wants to go again. Had she been to DLR recently? Such a different experience from when you are a kid (and a kid at heart adult), maybe now she knows what to expect for next time.
