Actually we got back a few days ago - but it's taken us this long to get round to sorting out our list of highs and lows etc. I will do a full set of trip reports but here are some brief details in the meantime:

Highs

First Choice - star class premier excellent again (and their customer service proved to be very good as well, with Tropical Storm Fay making an appearance at the end of the holiday!)

DVC - our first trip home since we bought DVC last year. We're all still totally in awe of how great DVC was. Our expectations were totally exceeded. No regrets at all.

Staying in different resorts/hotels - a grand total of 7 different places we stayed between leaving home on 6th August and getting back home on 23rd. (Although one of those wasn't planned!)

Vero Beach - brilliant place - we loved this mid holiday restful break at the beach.

Our girls being more independant - Now they are 15 and 13 they were more independant this trip than ever before. They were more than happy to take one of the cheap mobile phones we bought from Walmart and disappear off around the theme parks giving us a bit of time out. And I have to say that having our own bedroom was bliss - no more complaints from the girls about my snoring!

Managed to get 999,999 on Buzz!

Lows

Alamo - disappointing. They tried to palm us off with a lower grade SUV, but we insisted on what we'd booked. Ended up with a Jeep Commander - nil luggage room! Won't be booking with Alamo again!

Tropical Storm Fay - last few days were a bit on the wet side. Didn't make too much difference to us really....except for the delay to our homebound flight - by 19 hours!

Raglan Road - didn't live up to our expectations.

That's just a brief flavour - all the details to come in the trip reports!

I'll look forward to reading the trip report

Welcome home....looking forward to reading your trippie!

Welcome back, we were REALLY impressed with First Choice too! :thumbsup2

Sounds like the Highs outweigh the Lows Shaun, glad you had a good time.

I'm sure Deb and Kev will be relieved that you're happy with DVC after all of their pressure last year:lmao:

Know what you mean about Raglan Rd, we've been a few times and our first few trips I was somewhat underwhelmed by it - thought it was expensive for food. However, the last couple of times we've been there we've sat at the bar and enjoyed some appetizers and enjoyed it much more - so, I think for us a better experience as a bar than a restaurant.

Hi Matt,

DVC turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made, really suits us down to a tee. Managed to stay in Beach Club Villa's, Vero beach and Wilderness Lodge Villa's on this trip - more info and thoughts in the Trip Reports when I get round to starting later.

I found Raglan Road a bit confusing to be honest. Not been Ireland so can't comment on the authenticity of the decor or ambiance. As you say, it needs to decide whether it wants to be a bar with entertainment or a restuarant, both together doesn't really work.

The food was good but not exceptional and the presentation somewhat pretentious. I would have thought more "staple" bar food would have been better.

Saying that, Alexandra thought the Chicken and mushroom pie was truely wonderful!

We also tried Hooters thanks to Laura later in the trip!

Well, you couldn't possibly have thought that me and the Debster would guide you wrong, could you Shaun? :thumbsup2

DVC and Hooters in one trip! Let's face it, you're a lucky man.

Kev
