We're back! 6 days of rain and extended family 8/17-8/23! updated 9/29, day three!!

WHAT??????

Ray came home from his last softball game of the season last night LIMPING!!! :scared1:

Before I could even say anything he said, "Don't worry....I will be fine." I asked what happened and he said he thinks he sprained his knee.

I almost started crying. I asked him how in the heck he was going to walk 4 parks in 5 days LIMPING??!! He said he would do it. He is not someone to complain so I believed him....he literally will do Disney, in pain, and I will not hear about it once. :lovestruc

How fair is that?? I told him to go to the ER and at least get some pain meds. So he did. It IS a sprain. They gave him Ibuprofen. Whoopee. We have had great luck with our Disney trips...we have never been sick or hurt.

Until now.............I joked and said we didn't have money to rent him an ECV. He said that was fine..I could just push his 250lbs. in a regular wheelchair. :rotfl:

So first we were worried about my dad's gf's back b/c she had surgery this spring. But she's fine. Then we worried about Stefan not going. He is. Then the whole drama with my sister. And now a hurt DH. Last night I was pretty upset about it all and he reminded me that we will be back in Dec. so IF he had to miss anything we will catch it then. That didn't help my mood. I have to say I was surprised he didn't bust out with something like, "Well too bad..guess we can't go to EPCOT."
;)

20 more hours until we leave for the airport!!!

OMG.....how horrible! poor ray! sounds like something that would happen to us. well, hopefully the pain meds will help a little bit. if not just remember that you guys will be back in december! and if he needs to sit some stuff out at least he can watch ty while you guys do whatever he's sitting out. i don't know if he got a note from the doc but if he did add some crutches to that and you *might* be able to skip the lines. my sister had knee surgery about a month before we went to six flags one time and that was such a plus!

I asked why he didn't get crutches for that exact reason! :rotfl: He is actually getting around better today so I guess I would feel bad if we skipped the lines. He doesn't have to do much but sit on the couch for the next.............

16.5 hours!!!

My last post!!

I have a headache and as soon as Ty goes to bed I hope to be there myself. DH will probably stay up way too late!

I will let you guys know when I get back....keep your fingers cross that "Tropical Storm Fay" doesn't amount to anything!!!

9 more hours!!!

Darn... I missed you! I have been out all day and am just catching up. So sorry to hear about Ray.....give him some Bute and wrap his leg! ;)

I know you will all have a wonderful time anyways. With your dad, other people and a baby going, its not like you were going to go commando anyways so perhaps it won't be so bad.
And you know what they say.....a bad day in Disney beats a good day at work anytime! :mickeyjum

Hope you are gettting some nice rest now and can't wait to hear all about your trip!!! :woohoo:

have happy, magical, disney dreams!!! and i hope you guys have a WONDERFUL trip!!!!!! i hope ty's first trip to disney is all you hope it will be! :goodvibes

Hope you are having a great time!! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

I hope you guys are having a WONDERFUL time despite all the rain :sad2:

Can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back!!!

i hope you guys brought plenty of ponchos!!! i feel so bad for you every time i see the weather. hope it's not putting too much of a damper on the trip.

Oh... your weather. I hope that you all were able to have some great times despite the weather!

I'm back! A quick synopsis...the rain was horrible!!! It rained half of Monday, all day Tues-Thurs, half of Friday and was nice for our last half day. My feet were wet the whole trip...I hate to say it but it really put a damper on things. Crushed our spirits?? I know Disney is great no matter the weather but this was just never-ending! Ty was great though....no napping in the stroller unfortunately so I spent about 2-3 hours a day in the Baby Care Centers. No complaints except that I missed Everest (pouring when I came out of center...didn't have the energy to go on it) and I also missed Spaceship Earth and Soaring. I have to admit that it was tougher then I thought it would be..I had really counted on him napping in the stroller. But he was a trooper..especially for missing 25% of his normal nap time every day. Having family in tow was also tough. Problems with my dad's stomach (IBS) led me to scramble around and find new ADRs.

I have to warn you that I did not take that many pics. Maybe 25???????? My dad took a lot though and I will get his. Photopass was a tough with all the rain. No Epcot ones at all and just 2 at MK. Today, our last day, was sunny so we got some decent ones, I hope, at DHS and yesterday at AK. So you will have to bear with me when I don't have a lot of pics. I'm truly sorry. It's funny how things take a backseat with Ty in tow now. I think it also helped knowing I have a ton of pics from my last 3 trips so I didn't feel too bad about it.

All in all it was fun but tiring and at times it tried my patience to the extreme. Ray and I had a few spats but nothing we didn't fix right away. The rain really invaded our happy place! Anyway..I will try to get day 1 up ASAP. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about the downers of the trip. I am sure it was extra hard traveling with an infant in all that rain.

so sorry to hear about the rain! i was afraid of that. well, at least hurricane season will be over when you go back in december!

i hate that you don't get lots of photopass options in bad weather. seems like they'd have the photographs set up inside at various places instead? ESPECIALLY since they offer the pre-paid photopass! i feel bad that you didn't get that many pics!

I didn't see any photopass guys out when it was raining. I thought that maybe they would have extra ones inside somewhere but I didn't notice them. I don't mind though...with the share I still think I will have gotten my money's worth. I would have been super disappointed if I had paid full price! ;) I really wanted the Captain Hook one but never saw that guy out. I know we got one with Stitch coming out of the street and in AK we are going to be holding some sort of baby so at least we will have some cute ones! :thumbsup2

I just found your PTR - so sorry about all the rain you had last week. :sad2: Looking foward to your report though! :goodvibes

Welcome Home!!!!!!! I have been so worried about your trip all week. I knew it was such crumby weather and rain and wind and just awful....I am surprised you went anywhere at all....and it really is doubly hard with a baby in tow!!!! Well I can't wait to hear all about your adventures and I am so glad you at least have a Dec trip to look forward to!

I am working on day one today and hope to have it up later tonight. Ty is still adjusting to getting back on his pre-Disney schedule. He didn't sleep that well in the room's playpen. He normally sleeps 11 hours straight each night but last week it was about 8 and then another 3. How are your girls doing? :goodvibes

Day one! :wizard:

So my alarm went off at 3:15am! :scared1: I had tried to go to bed around 9 the night before but I think it was more like 10. Either way I jumped out of bed..it's easy to get up when you are going to Disney!!!

I showered and then got DH up. We had to be to my dad's around 4:15 and he is about 2 miles away. While DH was showering I woke up Ty, gave him a bottle and got him dressed. He was actually wide awake and in a good mood. That was fine with me b/c I wanted him to sleep on the plane.

My dad, Christine and Stefan were ready to go but unfortunately I had to sit in cargo area of my Escape with all the luggage since there wasn't enough seats and I am the smallest. It was only a 10 minute ride to the airport so I didn't mind but it definitely wasn't comfortable!!

Our flight was on time..6:19am. Ty was great for the first leg to Atlanta. I gave him a bottle on take-off and landing so his ears would pop..otherwise he slept the whole way. We had a 45m. layover in Atlanta. I went into the bathrooms to change his diaper and NO CHANGING TABLE!! What?? :headache: I was so mad..I ended up changing him on the floor near our gate. I even checked out the family restroom. Nada. I couldn't believe it.

The next leg of our flight was delayed once we were already on! Ty was starting to get fussy. I wanted to save his bottle for take-off but he was really upset so I had no choice. Luckily I was left with enough for take off and the stewardess re-filled it for me for landing. He slept for that leg too! :thumbsup2

We arrived in Orlando about 30 minutes late. We headed down to ME where there was a HUGE line....it was all the way onto the walkway. It moved fast and we were the only ones in line for SSR! We were sharing the bus with Old Key West so we were the 2nd stop. We arrived around noon.

Check-in was pretty slow...we got a guy that was "earning his ears." I felt bad for him but he was soooo slow. I had my confirmation with me from DVC but somehow the DDP was removed from my reservation. Luckily it was on the confirmation so they were able to put it back on. It just took about 15 minutes. (Sound familiar Dawn??;) ) My dad's room ended up being right above ours on the 3rd floor and it was already ready. Ours was not. Grr. :headache: I figured mousekeeping worked their way down and figured we would be ready anytime. I know check-in isn't until 4pm but I had hoped for some pixie dust! My dad and co. went to their rooms and then met us down my the boat service to take it to D.Disney for lunch.

We were headed to Earl of Sandwich and luckily it was located pretty close to the boat dock. At this point it was still really nice out...I still had hopes Hurricane Faye would "disappear!" When we got there the line was pretty long so it gave me a chance to explain the DDP to my dad. I was a little disappointed with EofS because you don't get a side item like chips or fries. Just the sandwich, drink and dessert. We were all starving so it tasted great anyway. The bread was just a little too crispy/toasted for me but the sandwich itself was delicious!

This is the only food porn of the trip...I just forgot as time went on. I'm sorry. Mine is the turkey club, minus the bacon, and DH had the original sandwich...roast beef I think!

I remember he was getting pretty sleepy by the time lunch was over so instead of shopping we decided to head back to SSR. It was almost 2pm now so I figured our room would be ready. On the way back via the boats I snapped this pic of the new TRex Cafe. We can't wait to go there in Dec although I heard they are only taking walk-ups until Jan. :confused3

Stay tuned for more of Day One! :goodvibes

Ok...so far so good...only a few setbacks. The crying thing on the plane stresses me out personally. I know people in a small confined area do NOT want to hear my kids cry! So I really get myself worked up by it. I can't imagine being stuck on the tarmack! :scared: Glad you made it there fine and Ty slept...bless his heart! Can't wait to hear more!!

leave it to atlanta to not have a changing table in their restrooms! i swear, that city is so backwards to have one of the biggest airports in america.

what is with the DVC not adding the DDP for you?????? that's just annoying!
