"We're armed with forks!" 11/21-29...8 days of food & a cake too...UPD 11/9!

You and I are kinderd spirits down to even planning what snacks we are going to indulge in it. I love it! I hope you have a wonderful trip and looking forward to hearing all about it.

Sounds like you have a great trip planned! It seems the communication with the cake people is going well so far, I hope they manage to make it exactly how you want it.

Looking forward to the reviews! :)

So far so good, yes! I am calling the bakery tomorrow since my voice is at least understandable now. I will post the update after I speak with them.

Thanks for joining in!

So...I am going to take the leap into the WDW custom cake waters for the first time.:rolleyes1 Alice's birthday is Christmas Eve. We've always celebrated it that day with cake and presents at home, then I'd have the big party for her and her friends in February so the parents would have time to recooperate from the holidays. Well, since she's become a teenager, she feels she gets shafted by the hub bub of Christmastime mixing with "her birthday":sad2: Ah...teenage girls and their drama, wait that's DRAMA!

Hi just wanted to say enjoying your report. My son's birthday is Dec 30, and I was worried about his birthday being lost in the Christmas mix. A friend of mine who's son was born Dec 23 gave me a really cute idea that has worked for us. Each year we get a small tree just for him, and decorate it with birthday streamers, party favors, and a party hat topper, and put his b-day presents and nothing else under it. This way he feels like he isn't being over looked and the other kids actually wish that they could have their own b-day tree. Anyway thought it was a great idea to pass along.

That IS a great idea!:lovestruc I may just surprise her with one of those this year at Xmas time;)

Thanks for joining in!

I love the birthday tree idea! So cute and fun.

And OP-- I saw your post in the Cake chatter thread yesterday (Monday? where do the days go?) anywho-- looking forward to your pre/post TR... we will arrive at WL on the 29th, I am hoping you will find some new goodies for us to try. :thumbsup2

(oddly we are getting a cake at CR too, for 2nd birthday. I have very high hopes, but no expectations, it will just BE.)

It really is a small world! Walt was right! I'll definitely try to get in some updates while I'm in the world!

Thanks for joining in!

Welcome and thank you! When you love food like my family does and you put as much research into the food you're going to eat at WDW as you do when you buy a house....that's BIG business!:lmao:

Well, with my voice almost back to normal today, I made the call to the CR Bakery. I explained to the woman that answered the phone about my email communication with Brian and how he told me to call and place the order. She asked me my name, and sure enough she found my email that Brian had printed out!:woohoo: I ended up ordering the cake chocolate as they only do marble in 10" cakes. She took down my ADR number for the wave along with my CC number. We went over the cake and the specifics 3 times and I was assured that Brian would create a masterpiece for my daughter! So painless and simple! I cannot wait to see what this cake is going to look like!!!!:yay: I asked her if I should call back a few days prior and she said that was no problem.

So far so good on the cake saga....:thumbsup2

My favorite Disney movie is Alice in Wonderland:love: So what better to use than Alice icons for my rating system;) Here they are....

I look forward to reading more of your reviews when your trip begins....a couple of questions though...

How do you arrange the chocolate cinderella slipper?

Also who do you contact about the cake. I will celebrating a bday when there in march and would like to drop some hints to dh!

Thanks for your help!
Kristie

Your trip sounds fun! We are going November 21-30 so I may be there! I say may, as I it is still up to the OB whether or not my lil pumpkin boy inside of me is going to let me go! ;)

Our family is doing WCC for Thanksgiving. We have heard its very good and we are traditional turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie people, so it sounded like a good fit for us!

I can do a countdown with you...we have less than a month!!! :yay:

Slippers...You can only get them through the GF Bakery or thru CRT. You just call them up and place the order.

Cakes...you call the WDW cake line and they will direct you where you need to go. Check out the "OFFICIAL CAKE CHATTER THREAD" on the restaurant boards for LOTS of great tips!

:woohoo:another fellow November DISer! Seems to be an awful lot of us going! We may just have to do a mini DIS meet! Hopefully you're little man will let you go;):goodvibes

My mom wants to stick with WCC for Thanksgiving, so that is where we will be too...at 8:55pm for dinner:eek: We're night owls tho, so we'll make it!

And....we're under 30 days!!!!:cheer2:

Stitch is allergic to shellfish!:scared1: Went to a restaurant over the weekend and had her try a spec, I mean SPECK, of crab from the claw and she immediately started complaining of her lip hurting. Then it started swelling, then she got hives on her chin, above her lip, forehead, neck, and back:scared1: THANK GOODNESS there was a Walgreens next door I could run to! I ran over and grabbed some Benadryl and gave her a dose of it. Within 10 minutes, everything was subsiding. She never complained of her throat hurting or started coughing, and being a nurse, I knew this was good!;) I called her doctor first thing in the AM and explained what had happened and am now the proud owner of 2 Epi Pens. All I know is that if a speck of crab did this, I would HATE to see what a bite would've done!!! Thank goodness she is finicky and would only try the speck!!!!

So...I had to rearrange our Cape May Clambake, obviously. I have replaced it with Chefs de France:woohoo: So lucky to have snagged this so late in the game:thumbsup2 I've wanted to go and I think we'll enjoy it. I like that they have the Prix Fixe menu so we can all have an app, entree, and dessert;)

Only 23 more days until pure gluttony begins!:dance3: I feel my waistline expanding already....or is that my butt....oh wait, it's my thighs....oh crap....I'm just screwed:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I too have a shellfish allergy. here is another helpful hint: even non-shellfish seafood could be trouble. Always ask if it has been cooked in shellfish stock first before orderng. You would be surprised how often my mahi mahi has been soaking up all the shellfish goodness before being served.

Our youngest son was/is allergic to fish (and wouldn't you know it...it is one food he REALLY likes). I don't know if you can outgrow an allergy and he has not tried fish since he was about 12 years old.

Hey! I'm on board. You're going to eat at some great places. The Wave is awesome, I'm sure you will love it!

Yay for only 23 more days!

That stinks about the food allergy discovery! :(

My allergies are with spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove), so I know how it is to tread lightly with certain dishes. I've always found the restaurants in Disney to be great as far as answering any questions you may have.

My best advice is it never hurts to ask when you're unsure about a dish. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I would not have thought of that:eek: And as severe as her allergy seems to be, that would definitely be something to check out. Thanks again!

Docs say you can outgrow an allergy, just as you can grow into one. I don't know if I'd ever want to find out tho! Once I get her set up with an allergist, they'll run her blood for food allergies on a regular basis. Maybe someday they'll come back with good news. Bad part for my little Stitch is that she likes shrimp, but can live without it!

Alice picked out the Wave, and this is where she'll get her birthday cake too. It always looks fabulous in the reviews I've read too. Alice took one look at the menu and was hooked (insert drooling smilie here).

Funny writing and about food? Count me in!!!:cool1:

I did send an email to special requests. They sent me a form to fill out and email back to them. They will alert the managers and chefs at all the places we have our ADR's (which I had to put them all on the paperwork). It's nice too that I was able to note Nana as a diabetic too:thumbsup2 They also sent restaurant info and a few other files to read about how they handle food allergies in their restaurants. I think it's great Disney takes such precautions to ensure no accidents happen and that your vacation doesn't revolve around the allergy since they are prepared and know you're coming;)

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Can't wait to see how it goes :)

Also, you definitely can outgrow a food allergy, as I have done it, but I was never as allergic as your daughter appears to be. I was first diagnosed with an egg allergy when I was 10 (although I had had it for longer - just didn't realize having a stuffed nose/throat a lot of the time was due to this) and around the age of 20 I realized that eating a little bit of egg didn't bother me anymore. Tried a bit of an actual egg, no reaction, and now I can totally eat them again no problem :) So there's hope, but you definitely want to do without it until she's a lot older!

I'm enjoying your report. I can't wait to see the cake! I'm looking forward to reading more!:thumbsup2
