Try Costco. They had some great deals when I was there yesterday. They had Copper River Salmon for $8.99 per pound. It is $25+ everywhere else. They also had USDA Prime NY Strips for $14.99 per pound. Again they are $25+ everywhere else in town if you can even find them. They don't even have USDA Prime Beef at Whole Foods.
When was the last time you went there?
I shop at Sam's every week. I've noticed fluctuating prices, but many have actually gone down (butter, milk, bacon).
I've been to my local Sam's every month (sometimes more than once a month) for the last year and a half. During that time, some meat prices (like chicken and beef) have increased about 10 cents a pound and other meats (like pork) have decreased. I don't know about fish prices.
I just went on Friday and noticed the ground beef had gone up by about 10 cents a pound (still cheaper than the local grocery stores). Other than that, most things were about the same or, as others have said, gone down (pork loin). I am sorry if yours is being outrageous.
Did you compare price per pound? Or just the cost of the packages in general at Sams? Meat prices are almost always lower per pound at Sams/Costco. So wonder what you were comparing it to.
Was just there on Saturday and didn't notice any huge increase in anything I normally buy there. We did buy some meat and it was actually cheaper than our other grocery stores.
Are you talking fresh or frozen items?
I go to Sams at least once a week (sometimes more) and I've noticed some meat prices going down (pork, chicken, ground beef). Other cuts of meat have been fluctuating but not by much. The price of beef has gone up everywhere in the past year.
