We went first thing this morning. Since the price is suppose to go up next week, we decided to go. Just a note to parents who have sole custody: Make sure you have an official divorce decree with a seal. I didn't have to have my ex-husband with me because I had the papers and I have sole custody. Thank goodness because I know he would have given me a hard time.

I went on Monday to turn my paperwork in! :cool1: I'm so glad too because DCL sent me a letter stating that they highly recommend that we get our passports for the West Coast cruise. They included the form for the passport too!

I have the paperwork all filled out and am stopping on my way home today to get mine. :cool1: I can't wait to get it back and go.

really thinking about getting ours, but I don't know where to go, or if I would get them back in time!

Does anyone have the new cost?
Sue Ellen

I believe for those over age 16 the price is: $30 for the processing agent (ie the post office for most of us), $55 for the passport to the feds and now an addtional $12 homeland security fee. Probably the $55 and the $12 get added together for a single $62 fee. Remember that the processing fee is seperate from the passport fee. You need two checks (at least).

Thank you very much.

WOW! They had an increase last year too. That is a lot to pay for a passport (yes, I know they are good for a long time--but still!)

That's what I'm thinking...especially when there are five of us! Just curious, does your family use them?

We went for our today, too!
It was $30 to the post office, and $55 to the feds. Multiply that by the 4 of us, and that's whu I decided to get those passports now and save some money!
Thank you to the poster who brought this to our attention!
There was a line at the passport window, and it took almost a half hour to get to the window. I guess all those people had the same idea I did, to avoid that price increase.
Oh, and the photos cost $8 each.

Must be something in the air! Took DD in to get her's today. Mailed mine in for renewal a week ago.

Did you get the photos at the post office?

We got our pictures done today. We went to a local copy shop. It took about 5 min from start to finish. We still have to go submit the application on monday at the county clerk-recorders office. Does anyone know if all post offices accept applications? And would it be only monday-friday?

It depends on the post office. We have one that accepts passports applications nearby that's open 7 days a week. The post office nearest to us takes applications M-F only in the mornings. If you go to the State Department website, you can find the places that accept passports.

We got our photo's at Costco for $5 (for 2 photos). That's the cheapest place that I have found for passport photos. :goodvibes

Got ours Mon Feb. 28. This is the only thing left to do for our East Bound Repo Cruise. :wizard: pirate:

We completed our applications and had an appt this morning for 8am at our local post office. On the web site where you download your forms there is a link where you input your zip code and it tells you where your application can be processed.

Do NOT sign the form until you are in front of the clerk!

Another thing done, I feel relieved!

We booked through AAA and got the photos for free. You may want to ask about getting the photos through your TA for free.
