:cool1: I went to a crop today at my local library. They have it every month. Its free and very nice. They have free paper stickers, tools ect... It is really nice. Today the food was unbelievable. Anyway I have been wanting to try a few things. I got that chance to use a Sizzix. I have to say I was not impressed. Now mind you this was the old machine using the converter on a sizzlet alphabet. So I don't know if that made a difference. But it was hard. I pumped and pumped that thing and the letters did not want to cut well. I gave up and tried the rubber stamp letters which I did like! I would definately do that again. I however, want be running out and buying a sizzix! It just wasn't for me. I think I will wait and try a couple of more tools before I buy anything like that. I only got 2 pages done though because I was busy trying things and scamming the free stuff! I hope everyone else had a great day  .

It's too bad that the Sizzix machine was old. I have a new one and it works really good. If you get another chance to use a new one, go for it. I think you will be surprised how good they are.

They must have need a shim or new pad for the sizzix - because it really is NOT that difficult!
(all a shim is - is a piece of paper beneath the pad)
and if you had one that worked right (or even a Quik-kutz) you would grow to love the ablility to make your own letters to match your layout!

I agree with PattyT and Minnie. I have a Sizzix and it sounds like it needed a shim. I haven't had any trouble cutting with mine.
I did read somewhere that for the big dies you can cut multiple layers but not with the Sizzlets. Some people were having trouble because they were cutting too many layers. They suggest only one layer at a time with the Sizzlets.

I did read on another board that using the sizzlets with the old machines is not as good as using it with the sidekick. Maybe I will get a chance to try the side kick sometime. I have not seen the quickutz even sold around here. In a couple of weeks I am making a trip to Archivers and they are supposed to have machines they can use. So I will try all I can :flower:
